my guess is mom didn't want to spend the money on flooring. New carpet or even vinyl planks or tiles would cost hundreds and every low end option for flooring is ugly

Go for a dark gray. She might not like the room being black but you can add black appliances to the room and itll def. compliment the gray while also giving you a taste of black

I’m a middle aged a woman and did my room in black with essence of gold and mahogany furniture that we bought as antiques before my husband passed away. This is now by far my favourite room in my r house. So nice to see the family come together and many hugs and hours of enjoyment to you !!! May i ask you a question!? Have you put on some rgb led light strips!? Do they reflect same as they reflect on white (or normal colored) walls!? Cuz i wanna paint my room black but I'm afraid that it won't reflect led lights & it'll absorb the colours & my room will look dull !

Here is a video update on Roxy's sister's room. Zoe painted some murals on the black walls and then decided it was time for some calming colors. To all of the parents who don't let their kids paint their walls: Let them paint it! It teaches them hard work and pride in a job well done. It also lets them be ok with mistakes. Things don't need to be perfect all of the time. Just do the best you can and finish what you start. Also, the hot guy in this video is their dad and the love of my life for 20 years now. For me I would have taken a light, cozy approach. Polar Bear white walls by Behr paint and done a light honey tone hardwood flooring. Especially for small bedrooms going with a light color makes the space feel larger

Problem with the color black, is that it doesn't reflect light. Black color absolutely absorbs the light. So if you paint it black, there would be less light in room.

We realized that underneath the carpet was just cement so we ripped it out. Because there was a gap between the floor and the wall if had to be filled in with some sort of insolation and then needed new base boards. After scraping off the carpet glue we painted the floor with a paint for floors. It's a cool affect, but I would suggest a rug on top of the cement because my sister says it is cold in the mornings and at night.

Here is a video update on Roxy's sister's room. Zoe painted some murals on the black walls and then decided it was time for some calming colors. To all of the parents who don't let their kids paint their walls: Let them paint it! It teaches them hard work and pride in a job well done. It also lets them be ok with mistakes. Things don't need to be perfect all of the time. Just do the best you can and finish what you start. Also, the hot guy in this video is their dad and the love of my life for 20 years now. For me I would have taken a light, cozy approach. Polar Bear white walls by Behr paint and done a light honey tone hardwood flooring. Especially for small bedrooms going with a light color makes the space feel larger

Black colour makes the room dim
Problem with the color black, is that it doesn't reflect light. Black color absolutely absorbs the light. So if you paint it black, there would be less light in room.

What did you do to the floor?
We realized that underneath the carpet was just cement so we ripped it out. Because there was a gap between the floor and the wall if had to be filled in with some sort of insolation and then needed new base boards. After scraping off the carpet glue we painted the floor with a paint for floors. It's a cool affect, but I would suggest a rug on top of the cement because my sister says it is cold in the mornings and at night.
