I’m going to take you to Barnard Castle in the north of England to buy some antiques and turn them over to make some money.
I’ll give you an insight into the business and show you some very interesting antiques and vintage items and show you how to to sell them on and make some cash.
If you see anything in the video you think I should have bought, let me know in the comments below...I’ll reply to them all
And if you see something you like as we’re walking around the Mission Hall Antiques Centre, then get in touch with them direct (link below)
Here’s just a few things we take a look at. A Bombay Blackwood table, Lea Stein type brooch, Doulton Queen Victoria jug, plenty of antique silver, glass, mirrors and treasures galore!
Contact the Mission Hall Antiques Centre www.missionhallantiquescentre....
Contact me www.david-harper.uk
Do you have any interesting antiques for me to feature here on my channel? What about interesting antiques or art you want to sell?…let me know and if I can make an informative, entertaining video on the subject, I’d love to get involved…get on touch!

  • Thank you, David, for the wonderful video. I noticed some beads behind the jug that you selected. Could they be amber? How can one tell genuine amber from costume jewelry? Please continue to share your expertise with us. We love your videos here in America.

    • Thank you for watching Ellen. There’s a few ways to tell if amber is real, but seeing if the beads float in salty water is a good one. If they sink, they’re fake, if they float, they’re real. I’ll do a video as and when I buy some amber! David

  • The jug was great buy, David. You hear people in the trade saying 'don't touch Doulton, keep away from royal commemoratives.' What they miss is the sweet spot where the two meet in great design, form and condition. Love the Dewar whisky jugs they produced too.

  • 05:05 That amber necklace might have been worth a gander, right behind your Queen Victoria Doulton jug. (pack the bejeebers out of that - foamy bits and double box it - if shipping it.) The amber is very light weight, easy to ship, with a global audience. Depending on price, naturally. That cabinet right behind Dale looks like it holds all sorts of goodness too. The silver oddments can sell for a lot more than silver weight, and again easy to ship. 11:05 Would I buy him? Heck yes! Dog lovers plus Leah Stein lovers = nab it.

    @OriginalNethead@OriginalNethead2 жыл бұрын
  • Scotty dogs sell well! I would have bought it in a heartbeat for resale. So glad you purchased it! Stein’s foxes proved popular too. The Doulton jug I was surprised was as inexpensive as it was, given the condition and the work that went into it. So loved your story surrounding the coin you wear, and how it connects to your passion for Queen Victoria and that era-touched my heart actually, imagining that wee seven year old, pleading for it…. David, thank you again for your gift of these shows! Question, do you sell your artwork and if so, do you have an online store? Also, a link to your eBay store? Thanks!

Hopefully the gin & tonics are going down well 👍 Watching the current Antiques Road Trip with you and Arusha. Looking a bit wicky for you at the moment Mr H, but all to play for in the last leg tonight. Looks fun to do though. How long does it actually take to film ?

    • Thanks for watching Pale. Each road trip takes exactly what you see on the show - two days buying and one day in an auction, but not one after another. Often a week or two between each trip. Cheers, David

    • @@DavidHarperAntiquesTV Interesting. You and your “Antiques Road Trip/Bargain Hunt/Put your money where your mouth is” colleagues are very much household names these days and have helped to bring the world of antiques to a wider audience. I always found the Antiques Roadshow a little stuffy and high brow for my personal taste. Certainly got my interest going right from the early days of Bargain Hunt with the Golden Wonder himself - Mr Dickinson. It’s great to learn about Antiques but with a little humour and entertainment thrown in. Cheers for that 👍

    • Just about everything in the shop but one thing I would love to have was the German Shepherd Dog figurine. In the quick look I had of it, it looked finely done. And that is one of the things I admire about British pottery, nothing can hold a candle to it or silver either.

  • Not criticising you but you stated you would sell that jug for say £100-110 online. At £65 cost price, then take off your fees, postage, tax, you're not going to make a penny on it? Seems a bit of a waste of time to me purchasing that.

    @Lavici@Lavici3 жыл бұрын
    • Good points, but it’s on my website at £95 plus delivery and of course I didn’t pay £65 for it, so there’s a working margin there. Obviously that needs to be scaled up to make decent money. Higher value items or lots of sales at this level. Thanks for watching. Cheers, David
