Visiting Peterborough Antiques Fair / Meeting The Dealers

Walking around the Peterborough Festival of Antiques and meeting the dealers who are selling there. It was a beautiful sunny day, with crowds of people and amazing antique and vintage stock to buy
I’ll also show you an 18th century coffer, which is the grandfather of all chests of drawers, a collection of starter level antique bottles and a Victorian chair which priced at £80, which is about 5% the price it would cost to buy the equivalent new!
For Antiques Fair dates / locations and information on becoming a dealer at any of the events around the UK…see www.iacf.co.uk
If you have anything interesting for me to feature or sell for you on my channel, do get in touch

  • David I’ve always loved old things. I say “if only you could tell me your tale and journey” my friends don’t get it but I enjoy the quirky things in my home, this includes a two headed elephant that has a head at each end ( my husband is sort of getting used to this one ) love it and love your channel.

  • I dare say David, this was most enjoyable and many thanks to the dealers you interviewed. Fascinating bit on the origin of chests of drawers-had no idea! Love soaking in all of your knowledge-as you say it is life long learning! I started out by going to country auctions as a youngster-first successful bid at ten years old? A box of junk for $3. Among the treasures a Victorian crazy quilt-I was over the moon. I am insanely jealous of you being at that fair right now-don’t really have outdoor antique fairs in Australia or Canada. Oh and kudos to your camera person, first rate filming! Cheers, Shae in Oz

  • My mom's late cousin went "bottle dump" digging here in the USA. American farms would have garbage pits and latrines etc, and things past their usefulness (and on a farm that took a bit) went into the pit. There was no trash removal back then. Even as early as the 1950s, people here went looking for those old garbage pits and went treasure hunting. 10:40 the bone crab icks me out a bit. Not because it's bone, but because it doesn't look cooked. (I like my crab on my plate! ) 14:20 I always want the original, dodgy reupholstery or not.

    • You’re right, people dumped rubbish (bottles etc) in holes and these have been long forgotten. Plenty still out there!
