🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10+ years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
See any factual food errors in my videos? Please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY POV. It is not meant to offend any person or culture. Peace!

Ok👍👍👍
Please come to country Georgia
That’s a Cambodian royalty, Princess Pongsoriya Norodom ❤
Pronounced withOUT the P, Nom Pen
Was going to buy sunny a beer but was a bit shy and not interfere
Im Korean but grew up with Cambodians here in the U.S. Great people and culture! Ke Thieu, Bai Cha, Ya Hon, Cha Kreung, Bok Lahong, Amok, Kaw, Salaw Machu, and so much more. Love the food!!!!
All this food you are already half cambodian 😂😂😂
I say salaw machew is a cambodian national dish. as a kid growing up hanging out with friends every house hold grandma or mom would make salaw machew. no cap.
I'm cambodian and live in the U.S , this makes me want to go back to visit!
Ya hon is the best! They are usually home cook by those who knows. Bravo my friend! You r 99.9% Cambodian lol
Beef lok lak aka Vietnamese Bò lúc lắc(Vietnamese shaking beef)is a Cambodian national dish and its originates from Vietnam. Clap 👏
Omg when the chef said "it's not about loss, it's also creation" dammmmnnn that's absolutely beautiful ❤❤❤
I know right! I got goosebumps when he said it!
This kind of videos from BEFRS is my favorite. To be honest I really dont care about all that shock and scare content, I just love seeing how people live around the world, how they eat, what the locals eat, etc. Loved this episode 10/10.
Great comment. Exactly my gene too.
I agree man. It feels like his videos before the pandemic, especially when it's videos about Vietnam.
Thank you for saying that. There was a long line of videos with carcasses for thumbnails for a while
as a South East Asian, this is not shocking to me. What scares to me is food like steamed potato poured with pork and beans with melted cheese and cilantro.
@@donjiedonjiedonjie ... I'm Asian too. I've eaten some weird things by the standards of the west. What I mean is the raw animal blood and guts or live bugs when I say shock content.
I was in Cambodia two months ago and really enjoyed the people, culture and food. Great episode!
I'm thinking about going. How is it compared to Thailand? Comparable?
I was there 5 months ago. I want to go back.
I was there five months ago. I want to go back.
@krnpowr same weather, obviously. The food was difficult to me. I think they used difficult spices. I enjoyed Thai food more however the seafood in Cambodia is to die for. Culture is similar.
From Canada been living in Cambodia for 9 months its great here
Thank you for loving our cambodia
Cambodian foods are underestimated and unappreciated enough from society. We have so much more to offer! Thank you to you and your team for putting together this heartwarming video. ❤
Such a tragic history in Cambodia. Thanks for showing all the wonderful, inexpensive food
Pol Pot what a prick
Wow I'm Southeast Asian from Singapore but Cambodian cuisine has always been very off the radar and unfamiliar to me. In fact I don't think there are any places in Singapore serving Cambodian cuisine despite how geographically close we are. Interesting to see that the food is actually quite unique, healthy and very very colourful with the use of flowers. This just made me want to visit for the food. Kuy teav / hu tieu is definitely a dish likely created by Teochew Chinese migrants in Cambodia though
Man, I saw you made videos about Cambodia food in the past but I felt that’s not real Cambodia food. Now you come back with this episode, I can confirm that you are hitting a right spot ( real Khmer cuisine ). Congrats 🎉
Even if the Demand is so high given the mass tourism, Cambodia still have cheap but very delicious and traditoonal cuisines. This is what the Philippines to learn from Cambodia.
This is the 'Best Ever Food Review' style I fell in love with years ago! This is raw, talented, amazing editing and storytelling, and most of all, taking risks in conflict areas to tell a food story ... Keep up the amazing work, Sonny! 👏👏👏
He got it all!
I agree man. I was looking for this high for a long time. I love his pre-pandemic videos.
Sonny's the best!
Being from a place where myself and my brother are the only Cambodians around, this video excites me. Seeing other Cambodians is like seeing a rare pokemon.
Cambodia is easily one of the most amazing countries I've ever been. Such a tragic history which wasn't really all that long ago. People were so nice and it was the first place I got to experience Bioluminescent Plankton which i'll never ever forget. Got to try some of the best food I've ever had, but also some of the worst lol. Only complaint would've been the Cicadas, I swear they come with megaphones over there.
I'm a Filipino kid and i love cambodia❤❤❤❤
I'm Cambodian I love Filipino too❤🥰
Thank you so much 🙏🏻❤🇰🇭
The content of this entire video was so much more and better than what that title and thumbnail gave off. Pretty good BEFRS episode that was actually pleasant to watch. Delicious food and wonderful introduction to the culture. I hope more of your future videos are like this instead of gross, shocking, or just controversial stuff all the time.
I use to go to this Cambodian restaurant that was 30 mins away from me in Vancouver, BC, Canada. For some reason, I always felt inclined to go all the way there despite the distance even though my family wanted KBBQ, Dimsum, Sushi, Italian food or a nice BC seafood. miss that place near Victoria and Nanaimo Dr.
This made me want to visit Phnom Penh when I travel in SE Asia next year. Thank you for bringing us all together Sonny!
🤍 Love how Sonny collects the chefs along the way to enjoy the final meal at the end. The quality of this show continues to get better & better 🎉 The food looks delicious!!! Great work BEFRS Team 🙏🏼
SONNY! I love your show! I lived in Cambodia for years. It’s such a beautiful and underrated country imo. Please keep coming back and showing more about khmer food culture and history which is often overlooked!
This is why I always support you, Sonny. Good introduction I like that there is a mix of humor, creating a happy atmosphere. In addition to discussing the food, you conducted interviews with locals to gain insight into and a voice for both the cuisine and the locals themselves. This effectively told the story of the food by bringing viewers into the lives of the chefs, cooks, and locals. Thank you for showing Cambodia to the world, especially Chef Nak and other Cambodians who participated.
Wow, I really love this episode! Thanks, Sonny, for reviewing the food in Cambodia! I grew up in Cambodia where my family ran a wedding food business for over 30 years and I got to eat a great variety of delicious food. Love all the Cambodian cuisine! The Kuy Teav Phnom Penh, Nom Banh Chok, Bok La'hong, Amok, Numpang Bate, Cha Kreung, Somlor Machu and Borbor Kreung etc... So yum yum, now I live in the USA I'm not able to eat some authentic Cambodian food like in Cambodia.
I am in cambodia now and have not try amok yet. Im in kampong Cham now but going to phnom penh in a few day. Will try the amok for sure. Thanks man.
Its amazing how clean their central market is..i cant see any flies on the food and fresh meat or garbage on the floors and on the road..unlike any othee countries that Sunny had visited! Great country👍👍
I love the way he explains about the food and culture of people around the world.
One of my favorite things about Sonny is his ability to make jokes every different people and cultures without ever disrespecting or insulting them.
Great video segment about Cambodia! 🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭
Their food must be super nutritious. I think it contributes to why Asians don't age fast and why they live healthier lives in old age.
My family live healthy bcs they ate veggies abd fruits too,i dont think eating blood cake and chicken feet are healthier than ussual meat
Also asians tend to keep more physically active until later in life, whether it’s actually like a job or just house chores
I strongly believe so. My mom is 60 and my two grandmas are 88 and 90. All of them are healthy and have no illness.
I don't know how many people are aware of this but there currently is a somewhat online culture war going on between Thailand and Cambodia. They keep claiming that one stole some culture from another and I would like to use the opportunity of this video exploring Cambodian food (as a Thai person myself) to spread awareness and to say that I appreciate both Thai and Cambodian culture, each have their own unique food. I do not wish for the two countries to go to war over some cultural claiming.
Yeah, as far as I can see they're different enough already, with all the hundreds years of their own developments after influencing each others for centuries, since the fall of Khmer Empire. even if there are some similarities it can't be helped. CN, KR, JP are somewhat similar as well. if they're saying who copied who then look(far) back at India LOL
Can't beat Indonesia in claiming anything😂
Yeah you are right, me too, make love not War. I'm Cambodia 🇰🇭
Yes, you're right.
I went there last year and missed all of those good foods. The co-host is very good and entertaining.
Not gonna lie, one of your best episodes.
I can't remember the first time I came across Sonny's channel but I've watched every single video and I've learned so much. The content quality is top class.
Pho broth is made from beef base, Phnom Penh noodle is made from pork base.
Finally U did it Sonny, especially Chef Nak who can joint this clip. Thanks everybody.
SE Asian cuisine is a dream 😍 Sadly pretty much none of these ingredients are available where I live
Philippines is the only country that dont have such ingridients. So people just eat Pares and other dishes that even a 5 year old can cook blind folded. Cambodian food is just glorious.
love and respect to my Khmer brothers and sister, our culture was disrupted.
I’d love to travel to this country!!! ❤❤❤
Yayyyy Cambodia, I have been following you for a long time, and I hope to see you visit Cambodia. Thanks for the visit, and showing the food! I commented and liked the video before even watching it.
I really love how they present Cambodian dishes. Welcome to Cambodia
Chef Luu looks a kinda like a Cambodian Jimmy Onishi.
14:38 I wonder if the chef misspoke about the age of the roasted pig. I think he meant to say it was 7 weeks old and not 7 months. At 7 months, a hog would normally be 250+ lbs.
I love this video. I just fell in love with Cambodia because of this. This video also takes me back to your videos before pandemic, when your following was small. Great job Sonny!
I love this guy. He has a very 2000s TV, can-do kinda attitude to his narration that makes me feel like I'm a teenager watching Travel Channel late at night all over again.
Probably best Cambodian episode I’ve seen from any food show. I agree Krueng is probably what makes our food unique.
Thank you for visiting Cambodia and many thanks for sharing our Traditional food!🇰🇭🙏🏼
Your editing staff NAILED this one. Well shot. Great story.
Local ingredients make Cambodian Cuisine look like yummy . I will go to Cambodia in July to Visit Angkor Wat and will try all that foods 🥰💯.
🇰🇭🥰
2.17: "I can't believe how much variety is in here.... different kinds of meat.., There is a random slice of okra, I'm putting that back where I found it" That cracked me up 😂😂😂
Thanks MR for coming Cambodia 🇰🇭 ❤❤❤ , welcome for all you guys ❤
Market looks so organised and clean on top of that amazing food
One of the best videos ❤ loved all the amazing shots of the food, culture and people! Great story telling and edit!
The central market is right next to my house and I usually go out and eating at the market, especially all the food is so captivated and my favorite is kuy teav Phnom Penh and boil pig organ and meatball 🤤😋
Next time someone ask me to describe Cambodian food, imma just send them this video
Wish we could have this kind of breakfast here. Sounds more nourishing than bread and eggs. So much protein and veggies and a savoury broth to warm up. Very curious also about snail porridge, looks outstanding! This kind of videos are very dynamic and fun!
Thank you so much Mr. for sharing the good experience with our best traditional food.🥰💓🙏❤️
Cool to see how far Cambodia has come since the Khmer Rouge massacre...that sht was straight up nightmare fuel and look at them now, amazing
I really love all of your videos and thank for coming back again to Cambodia 🇰🇭
Makes me hungry watching this. And i just ate breakfast

In Siem Rep U can eat even polish food
You hit hard in this video Sonny! Well done! You got most of my fave Cambodian dishes. The only one missing is you need to try Cambodian hot pot. Sending love and support! ❤
Each and every time I watch these pieces, I learn something new. This one was pretty perfect. Thank you for doing this work...it does make a difference. =)
It's great video thanks for coming again in Cambodia 🤗
Absolutely amazing. Cambodia has a place in my heart, and your content deserves more views than it gets... Such a big and wonderful team you have, and so consistent with the quality.

Great Content and PRODUCTION, Always
Thank you Sonny, for bringing us another informative, delicious, hilarious and eye - opening upload🤩!
Good things always come in small packages 😂
7:27 Good Morning Sonny and crew. I love your videos 🎥 on the street food series. Some of the ingredients look so interesting. Interesting. Eat well. Keep up the great work. Healthy Blessings and Happy Adventures from Gilbert Arizona USA 🇺🇸.
I love this channel. It really makes you hate fine dining and its culture with every video. Street food love!
This episode was epic!! From the fresh herbs & spices to the succulent carmelized piglet carefully roasted over a open flame charged my appetite for authentic fresh Cambodian cuisine. Omgoodness!! Each dish reviewed on this culinary adventure looks phenomenal but the milky roasted piglet brought a sensational vibe to my liking. I only can imagine how delightful & satisfying the aroma was experiencing these delicious delicacies. Both of the co-hosts were vibrant heart warming additions to the show but the last chef revealed is a one of a kind skilled craftsmen that will definitely be worth the value of the price for the prized highend cuisines displayed at his restaurant. Sonny always hit a homer out the park on his unique classified culinary escapades however this was astronomical content educating viewers on food & culture from a majestic country of tantalizing history and amazing traditional foods overall provided outstanding documented treasures. 🥥🍈🧅🧄🌿🍀🌺🌸🦐🐽🐌🐟🍲🍱🥘🍛
We are watching this on our local tv in kenya, big up sonny
Sonny kept eating while they were talking.. it shows the food was yummy...
Nice. I'm currently increasing my cardio workout so I can splurge eating there 😊
You are the Best Ever Food Review Show! Not just in name, but this channel has gotten so good at teaching and exploring food and the people who make it, that if anyone I know is going to a place you've been I recommend watching the episode. You guys are the BEST!
Sonny deserves a lot of credit for what he does. He is so respectful with other cultures and really enjoys the culinary experience. Honestly I think he os the only person that I know bringing people together. Honestly amazing 🤩
Love the history lessons!
I want to live there all that amazing fresh foods.
This video was very heartwarming as a Cambodian, Sonny. Thank youuu 😊🙏🏻
