  • She's one of the most hard working players out there. She's playing singles and doubles every week and excelling at both. Whoever called her a random after winning the French Open is looking dumb now

  • On match point, just as she go into service motion, Ostapenko kinda squint with left eye, like she drawing back and aiming an arrow to shoot. One of the best serves I ever seen, male or female, on a key point. I think she happy with how she play. I don't know how people, who do well against Ostapenko start the match, but pobably not the best idea to put so much into first game, unless you feel you can overpower her. From what I seen, girl with build like Collins, stronger and taller and fearless, they not gonna roll over for Jelena.

  • Penko's game is getting better, she's dropping the pounds which has increased her movement and given the power back in her shots. If she can keep the crazy in check I'd say she'll start to rack up some tournament wins! 😎

  • I love alona ostapenko. Slowly but surely,she’s going stronger and stronger. She’s barely injured and work hard . Maybe not on her fitness but the game is going forward. She just have to cut down the UE and the rushing. All she needs is a good draw at the slams.

  • The visible sweat stain on the back of Anastasia's skirt could tell you the story. Ostapenko was wearing that behind out. She had Anastasia chasing volleys all match and you can tell Anastasia was gassed and losing some confidence. Ostapenko is like a Heavyweight boxer she hits strong and won't pull punches.

  • When Osty is "en fuego," you can fuggedaboutit! Fact is, Nastia Pav has stepped up her game of late, looks fitter than ever, and has the kind of firepower to compete with her, yet Osty STILL blew her off the court. You have to catch Osty when she goes through periods of making errors. Steal a set here or there and then hope you get lucky in the decider. If she plays like this in the final, can't imagine anyone beating her. She is WTA's premier slammer talent.

  • Ostapenko played brilliantly. She completely outplayed and overpowered Pavlyuchenkova in every aspect of the game. Ostapenko was fast, powerful and uncharacteristically for herself consistent. If she will be able to continue to play like this in her tomorrow's final against Alexandrova, she will most likely win in straight sets easily.

    • @@jeffreykaufmann2867 She already in Adelaide Semi-final defeated her easily in straight sets, plus after yesterday Alexandrova will be very fatigued and the conditions suit Ostapenko's hyper aggressive play style far better, plus against Vekic, Alexandrova played very poorly. Made so many unforced errors and barely scraped past Vekic. Ostapenko won very easily her Semi-final match against Pavlyuchenkova firing 34 aces and 13 unforced errors. If Ostapenko will keep this up, she will win easily this match.

    • @@alexlackner1945 It 100% is distracting. If you watch closely, it's less to do with preparation and more of a tactic to throw the server off. Find me another player that does something similar. This is not a split step.

    • I mean you hear the squeaking all the time during rallyes, do you not find it distracting there? Even if it was a tactic, i don't think it would bother me. PS: i just looked at her French Open final in 2017 and she does the exact same thing on clay, only nothing's squeaking there.

    • @@alexlackner1945 During rallies, yes, in the normal flow of a point and changing directions. You can be called for a hindrance when someone is hitting an overhead and you repeatedly tap your racquet on the ground. I've seen it called in pro matches. This seems like something similar.
