When I first heard the American Idiot album, it totally changed my perception of music and I became obssesed with Green Day. When the stage show came out on Broadway 6 years later, I was fortunate to see it on Broadway three times and though people thought the plot was terrible, the show took me through all the emotions, it allowed me to see these iconic songs in a whole new light, and even showed me a side of our modern society that I never realized before. Watching this video not only took me back, but it nearly had me in tears reexperiecning this epic and tragically painful rock-opera. I'm auditioning for a local production of the show in three days, and I am hoping more than anything to be in the prodcution. Rage and love forever!

The book is practically non-existent in this musical, but in the rare moments it appears it's often moving in an extremely blunt way.

Nah sorry okay green day used to be one of my special interests/hyperfixations when i was younger and now that I'm a bit older and actually understand what's going on, i can confidently say that this still slaps years later, and these actors and actresses have some fucking PIPES like jesus christ

This sucked harder than a vacuum. As a self-proclaimed (honestly somewhat a poser) punk throughout high school, I’d never dress this way. And their voices? Their tones and expressions? Ew. This isn’t Shakespeare. Entirely off-point. The music video for Jesus of Suburbia was so good, it was the embodiment of punk rock. What is punk rock about this sorry excuse for a musical? This is embarrassing. If I could double dislike, I would. I’m so disappointed.

This play probably would've been more relevant if it had been released today. Obama's era was when everything was starting to turn around and we were a nation that still had some hope for our future. Didn't ring with suppressed rage at society. It would've worked so much better in this post-Trump era Also, it could've used some better writing between songs

Disagree. The album came out in 2004… 9/11, Bush, wars. The play started in 09… recession, more war. Occupy wallstreet was just months after the broadway run in 2011. Yeah we had hope in the Obama years but were still very much in the thick of it in 09. Right tone for the era IMO. Need a whole different concept album for the Trump era.

I hated that production so much, it was a noisy piece of crap! I’ve been to literally hundreds of concerts and plays and some we’re not that good! Never walked out. This thing I could only handle five minutes then I walked out! The sound in this video is very representative of what the whole experience with Like. A bunch incoherent racket with no story. The bunch of actors I use that lightly jumping around and moaning and yelling and saying stupid things. To this day over half a decade later I still feel ripped off by that POS band and that POS production of what they thought was a play! Funny part is, i use to love green day! 😆
