Agrees. Since the deadline, my eyes tell me that this Mavs team is scoring at the rim in the halfcourt offense better than any Mavs team since the late '80s. Jones, PJ, Lively, Gafford all using their length and toughness as a disruptive force on defense. Makes the perimeter defenders much more able to do switches, rotations, etc. And yes, there's also LuKAI. Scary high ceiling.

Not a lot of great offensive teams in that 10 game stretch. Heat, Pistons, Bulls, Warriors (no Curry), Thunder, Nuggets, Spurs, Jazz x2, and Kings. Mavs loss to Thunder, Needed a game ending shot to beat Nuggets, beating a Warriors team without Curry is not impressive. Kings are the only team left that has a great offense. Mavs defense shut them down.

I get the finals experience narrative but then again, it's Luka. He's been winning since before he even hit full puberty on a professional level. And just like Jokic last year, these European guys are built different. there's nothing too big in the game to rattle them. The Mavs have the momentum. They are finally healthy. Kyrie and Luka's synergy on the court has never been better. Luka don't have to go nuclear anymore to barely win a game. Luka may have an off night, but you still have Kyrie. They may both have a rough night shooting but the Mavs still have Luka's playmaking and with the addition of Gafford and Washington, they have a reliable defense with their size and physicality.

I would honestly choose the Mavs over the Suns as well, and the main reason is depth. Suns are one injury away to any of their starters from losing in the first round because they literally are playing with a 7 man rotation Mavs outside of Kyrie and Luka are way deeper.
If Luka goes down, the Macs have no chance. So Mavs are one injury away as well.

I'm a suns fan to the fullest but I agree the mavs are way better than us.
Its crazy watching football guys talk basketball. Not a single mention of the changes the Mavs made with Gafford, PJ Washington, DLive, etc. The Suns have zero defense, the Mavs are one of the best defensive teams in basketball since the trade deadline. These guys are literally still thinking of the Mavs in terms of a small ball 3 point shooting offensive team with no defense, but in reality they are now paint monsters and are a BIG team, no longer locked down by small ball.
Mavs in prime position to take off next season. Keep pj and gafford, lively is a great as a back up. They got all the guard scoring with kyrie, luka, and Tim. Just need a Ace perimeter defender and another 3&D. If they can somehow get Mikal bridges when his stock is low would be perfect. Just need another guy at that small forward position, Josh green is not the answer let him be a bench piece.

So Suns beat the Nuggets while their 2nd best player was out. Mavs beat the Nuggets at full strength. You have to have size to match up with the Nuggets - which the Mavs have. You can’t pray you will hit 50% of your shots in a 7 game series against the Nuggets, which the Suns will bank on.

When the pressure is on … who do you trust? Lebron and KD didn’t win when they lost Kyrie to injury. Lebron even chose to give the final shot to Kyrie. Luka is a pretty clutch player as well. Games like these you need players who can perform at the utmost pressure especially when the game is on the line. Lebron tried to recruit Kyrie to the Lakers because he knows he needs someone with proven nerves of steel.
Mavs are more in depth than the suns. Don't forget our defense has improved with Gafford and PJ and Jones Jr in the starting lineup to help kyrie and luka. Mavs are going to be scary in the playoffs
