I loved how this show adapted villains like Magneto, Mr Sinister, Mojo, Sabretooth, Omega Red, Apocalypse, The Dark Phoenix Saga etc... I cannot wait, the animation looks incredible!

They made cyclops so goddamn cool wow. I pretty much forgot how prominent his presence was as a character in the franchise, given how passive he has been in all these adaptations these past two decades.
They are finally giving us the real Cyclops. It's because of terrible adaptations of his character that people couldn't figure out why he was the leader.

I watched this show so much growing up, and Cyclops was my favorite. I hate the Xmen movies for turning him into some kind of whiny frat boy type, instead of being essentially the backup leader of the Avengers if Cap isnt around because his leadership abilities are very close to his.
X-Men: Evo Cyke excluded of course. Why is it that the earlier cartoons (not WatX) got Cyke’s character immediately?
@@davidmacy411I think the trouble is that any adaptation can’t capture Cyclops’ internal monologue and so you don’t see the interiority of a man who always needs to be in control simply because his power is so uncontrollable and while thought balloons are out of vogue, the Clairemont and Simonson X-Factor runs show us how he thinks and what he thinks and also his own inner conflicts

Janky animation ironic Batman came out animation series early and that show has way smoother animation

Everything except the last two seasons were pretty awesome.

And the good thing about Disney+ is that the producers are in full control of the runtime. It can be as long or as short as needed for artistic quality, so they won't need to sacrifice any runtime for the premiere episode to give us a long recap haha
If X-Men '97 becomes a success, I can see Spider-Man TAS becoming revived

I've been watching the entire original Animated Series in preparation for 97, and I gotta say it's been awesome! I'm so excited to delve into the Revival series. X-Men 97 sounds amazing and like everything I wanted it to be!

Me too and agree. I also think it's a testament to the storylines of the comics and strength of the overall source material, seeing as the animation was such a faithful adaptation.

I've rewatched TAS atleast 4 times over. I never thought I'd watch it again so soon.
The fact that I'm getting chills every time I see a trailer is crazy... I always thought I was the only kid addicted to Saturday Morning FOX KIDS.... insane how the X-Men & Spidey were at the Forefront of the MCU with Cameos & Crossovers while every other franchise were D-List compared to them

You miss the memories of being a kid not the actual vhs itself. In 20 years time kids from today will be saying they miss tik tok. We do it every generation and it’s called nostalgia. It’s the same reason you don’t throw away your old pokemon cards because they remind you of the past and if it wasn’t pokemon cards it would be digimon or yugi-whatever-o. The point is it’s not the cards you feel nostalgic about, it’s the childhood memories those held on possessions or tv shows reminded you of.

Such an iconic series and such a perfect look for ALL THE CHARACTERS that it, along with Spider-Man from the same era, remains the image most people think of when picturing the characters.
Now we need Spider Man 98
Will love to finally see Peter get his happy ending instead of that cliffhanger they left us on.

Correct. Wolverine's actual mutations are bone claws, which got bonded in adamantiun, then stripped of adamantium, then got rebonded again. Then there's also the accelerated healing factor, super strength, and heightened senses. Like Sabretooth.

This won’t reference the MCU but the MCU has referenced this material for Xavier in Dr. Strange, Beast in The Marvels, and Wolverine in Deadpool movies. It’s a one way street. Hopefully now X-Men can cameo the Avengers properly and have them depicted with accurate colors - which was an animation licensing rights issue in the past I imagine.

I’m excited for the reemergence of x-men, my favorite characters back in the day were Jean grey and jubilee since they were voiced by Catherine disher and Alyson court (before voicing Jill and Claire respectively in the resident evil series), I wish they come back to reprise their roles
Alyson kinda does it, her character in this revival, Abcissa is normally an alternate timeline Jubilee that Mojo kidnapped and made her into his slave assassin.
Cool thing about this is that you can watch these episodes listed and be caught up.
Ill never forget from being really into Marvel that the X Men Comic Books will always be some of the holiest of Comic Books
the animation team did a great job capturing the feel of the original while greatly improving the quality. the colors and effects are perfect.

if they do a spiderman 98 series, it would have be after the your friendly neighborhood spiderman series is over since they have plans for at least 2 seasons of that show plus marvel still has to get sony's permission since they also control a portion of the spiderman tv rights.

The theme song is so impactful. It’s like The Simpsons, a theme that is so iconic you can casually think of it. I always do Greenday’s version of “The Simpsons” but for the X-Men if anyone understands. Sorry for the long winded, exposition, of an explanation.. I am just so excited!!

I can't wait to see how they adapt newer comic storylines. Could you imagine if they adapted Avengers vs X-Men with the Phoenix Force coming back and having guest star cameos from all the other 90s Marvel shows? It would be like the Spider-Man TAS Secret Wars episodes but even cooler to see everyone interact after so much time has passed. A House of M arc would be amazing. Or maybe have Bishop try to return to his future at some point only to find it replaced by 2099. There's so many possibilities.

Anyone who grew up with Toon Disney, Jetix, or ABC Family is far too aware of what happened Previously on X-Men in regards to the Phoenix Saga. It was a good arc. But...reruns of it galore.

I didn't grow up with The X-Men Animated Series, But I do Love The X-Men Movies and just The X-Men in General So I'm Excited For This!!! It Looks Awesome!
I’m 41 and feel like a kid again with unbridled enthusiasm. The first two episodes of the new series were great. They build upon what we saw in the 90s show and improve upon both the animation and writing quality. This seems slightly more grownup in tone too, which I dig.

Before streaming, we used to watch movies and tv shows on VHS and DVD (even though they still make dvds)
We still got Blu-ray and 4K, even though we got streaming service.
Pretty sure CD came first before DVDs.

I remember every Saturday: X-Men followed by Power Rangers!
My parents used to not want me and my sis watching either. Which is weird since they were okay with us watching Star Trek The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine - both which routinely had far more scary, violent, and sometimes demonic scenes.

@@geekboy2335 yeah it's funny. Star Trek TNG has a scene where a guy's face gets blowd to pieces and some of his chest cooked off. That's ok. Scene where a woman dies screaming in agony while a hole is burned in her midsection? That's fine. Watched both before I was ten. But watching X-Men - which has none of that - at eleven or twelve? Nope! Too violent and satanic, apparently. Swallow camel, strain at gnats. Parents need to grow some brain cells.

Winderbaum discussed said conditions in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, recalling, "Following the success of What If…?, when we were able to make more animated shows, [X-Men '97] was my first idea out of the box. And Kevin [Feige] was like, 'Alright, if we can get the [original] cast and we can get the song, let's do it.' And fortunately, we were able to do that."
They gave it to a Korean Anime studio to remake this series. It's great to see the influence of anime on Western animation in these years, (Spiderverse, Arcane, Puss in Boots, What if, etc.)
*-remake- revive *X-Men '97* is a revival meant to be a continuation of *X-Men: The Animated Series* (1992-1997), hence the '97 in the title. That said, X-Men '97 (S1) is basically X-Men: TAS (S6).
Love that they did the "previously on X-Men" although I wish they used the iconic "Jean!!!" Scream from cyclops.

Love the nostalgic charm of the OG but boy im so excited to see it in modern day animation. Thats the best thing ever. Japanese Anime has really set the standards for visuals & details.
