Please note that there are SPOILERS for 'The Departed' this tribute
What an exceptional director this man is. Often referred to as one of the greatest American filmmakers (which he is), Martin Scorsese is amongst the most passionate and fearless directors working today. Why fearless? He's not afraid to try new things. His genres can range from a violent crime film like Goodfellas or Casino, to family oriented love letter to cinema like 'Hugo.' It's undeniable that Scorsese knows how to make a damn good film no matter what genre or style. With this installment of 'The Works' I tried to focus on the tonal range of Scorsese's feature films along with the recurring themes that surround them.
Who's next? Here's a hint: Toothpick

After Hours is so underrated.
I have watched this very video consistently since I was 16. 1:25 's "Ha!" has always given me the big chill. Your videos were a big part in my recognizing of directors through their work, later even beyond your videos. These 4 years were the time I took educating myself on film and deciding for a filmmaking career. I am now finishing my first screenplay, and onto directing it, very soon.
My top 10 favorites by Scorsese: 10. The Color of Money 9. The Departed 8. Gangs of New York 7. Casino 6. Shutter Island 5. Raging Bull 4. Goodfellas 3. The Wolf of Wall Street 2. Hugo 1. The Aviator
I've watched this video more than 20 times. ledendary director
Pro edit! -- I only wish "Wolf of Wall Street" was in there. Hard editing a career when it isn't over yet.
Chances are that there will be more fucks there.
@@theobuniel9643 more master class works
This video needs an editing with The Wolf of Wall Street, Silence and now The Irishman.
@@ivangomez123 👏👏👏👏👏 yes please
Why wait until a guy retires or dies we should celebrate a artist's career entirely.
Greatest director of all time And one of my inspirations
Please make one for John Carpenter, Ridley Scott, and David Fincher.
the shot of daniel day lewis with the fireworks in the background gives me chills
the aviator and hugo are a joy for my eyes I love you Martin Scorsese and I love you Dante Ferretti
I’ve watched this video about a million times. Thank you!
god looking back on this now it's crazy how you replicated the tone and even the editing styles of Scorsese films
Epic Editing! Masterful and Authentic Analysis of Martin Scorsese's Cinematography.
A great descripition of Scorsese's awsome style. Love your editing! Great use of music and extremly well put together.
I think you deserve a compliment for making the best montage of the series, and not a million suggestions on what to do next. Well done sir, you are great at this and this is your best one yet!

Thanks for the recommendations. I am probably going to see Color of Money, but mostly to see Paul Newman's performance. Thanks for all your help. Btw, did you hear that DiCaprico and Scorsese are going to collaborate again?
Joel Walden you are a genius
Out of the ones I've seen, I'd say: 1) Taxi Driver 2) Raging Bull 3) Goodfellas 4) The Aviator 5) The Departed 6) Gangs of New York

You have an incredible knack for creating these montage/ sizzle reels. I work at a movie trailer company and I think you should seriously consider getting into this business.

Superb!
Oh man, Scorsese probably my fave director, but this reminded me just how great he is.
I saw The Aviator last week. Great movie and DiCaprico's best performance. Rating Marty's movies I'v seen: 6.Shutter Island 5.Departed. 4.Aviator 4.Last Temptation 2.Goodfellas 1.GANGS OF NEW YORK!
Toujours aussi bon ! un admirateur français :P

1.Raging Bull 2. Goodfellas 3. Taxi Driver 4. Casino 5. The Departed 6. Gangs of New York 7. Shutter Island I think his Most underrated film is Bring Out the Dead along with Color of Money, Age of Innocence, King of Comedy, After Hours
Brilliant
Dude how do you get EVERY movie in such GOOD QUALITY!?... I wish my KZhead Videos were this clear..
Kubrick-The Works is up! Check it out--it's really beautifully done. My favorite "The Works".
Here are the five best Scorsese films I have seen so far: 5. "Ragging Bull" (1980) 4. "Age of Innocence" (1993) 3. "Shutter Island" (2010) 2. "The Departed" (2006) 1. "Silence" (2016)
I watch this daily.
the greatest story teller of our time
One more update: 10.Shutter Island 9.Departed 8.Casino 7.Aviator 6.Taxi Driver 5.Hugo 4.Last Temptation of Christ 3.Raging Bull 2.Goodfellas 1.GANGS OF NEW YORK(I always capitalize this movie;can't help it, I love this movie) I think that this is my last update for a while. After watching eight Scorsese films in just the last two months, I need to take a breather. Just didn't know I would love Scorsese films so much.
Awesome
The people who says that "the scorsese golden globes clip" was better....is because they cant accept that THE WORKS- MARTINS SCORSESE is the best montage of all!!!!!!!
Half expected to hear "Gimme Shelter" somewhere, but "Comfortably Numb" is a good one too!
yesssssssss
Good Job, nice video
I agree on Eyes Wide Shut and 2001. And Barry Lyndon is indeed beautiful, it has become one of my favorites. You can't really compare Spartacus to his other films, since he went to direct it at the last second. I find it hard to decide which one is my favorite. But Eyes Wide Shut, Strangelove, The Shining and Barry Lyndon would be contenders.
Stanley Kubrick- The Works? Your compilations are magnificent, keep it up.
great list!!!!!!.....THE KING OF COMEDY IS A MARVELOUS UNDERRATED FILM!.....Scorsese has made so many good and great films that make a TOP 5 is very short......
HUGO was what going to the cinemas is all about: MAGIC
Man i have to say u have some talent............and/or one heck of a computer system to make this work :D
Haven't seen After Hours yet. Probably will watch it this weekend.
Personally I believe lolita is one of Kubrick's underrated films along with The Killing and Barry Lyndon, I say that about lolita because the film was great for pointing out what monsters love makes of us, I have never went from loving the characters to absolutely hating them as they were built up and then torn down into shadows of themselves and the movie made me feel multiple feelings throughout the film, which is pretty common in Kubrick films. He was the master, no doubt about that...
Thanks for the reply. I love The Last Temptation of Christ. Just watched it last weekend. I watched Cape Fear today. I put it in the tenth spot, after Departed, but before Shutter Island. Have you seen Cape Fear? What other films of Scorsese would you recommend?
whenever I watch these "the works" videos, I always pretend that it is the trailer for the greatest movie ever.
Sir, There is a request i would like to make, we would really like to see The Works of Sergio Leone, Francis Ford Coppola & Oliver Stone. I hope we would get to see them soon...
Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Marty! I think I have a tear in my eye :')
After watching Raging Bull last night, I would put it above Last Temptation and below Goodfellas. Great film, and by far, De Niro's best performance.
This needs to be re-edited with Hugo and WOWS
Amlaan Bhattacharjee and silence now
Sir, Really liked the work you did, We know it is too hard to put all the things together in the right sequence. I downloaded 3 videos of the The Works of Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and Stanley Kubrick. But there is a request i would like to make, we would really like to see The Works of Sergio Leone, Francis Ford Coppola & Oliver Stone. I hope we would get to see them soon...
No. I didn't forget it. I am just not as anxious to watch it as those other two I mentioned. Believe me,can't wait to watch Alice. In fact,it is been 4 months since my last Scorsese film.I am due for a new one. Just watched Gangs again. Still love that movie, but it is time for something new. Thanks for your compliment on my Scorsese ranking;much appreciated.
Great vid' !! but what's the music you used ?
Terry Gilliam - The Works That would be awesome.
I think you should do Peter Jackson as he has done films of all sorts of genres: he's done horror, splatter comedies, romance dramas, fantasy epics and even a mockumentary. it would be interesting to see all of his films from diverse genres in one video.
Where is "Who's That Knocking At My Door?" Kidding, I'm not one of "those guys." Great video. A reminder of who my favorite director is and why.
It's a crime that After Hours and King of Comedy don't get the respect and attention they deserve.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Peter Gabriel and Pink Floyd with Martin Scorsese = Awesome!!!
re edit with jumping jack flash, tho this did do justice and i love karen o
and then there are those directors who only do masterpieces, like Stanley Kubrick, but Scorcese is also easily one of the best directors ever, and he queps doing good movies at his age!
Scorsese is a legend
Update: 18.New York, New York 17.Bringing Out the Dead 16.Shutter Island 15.Cape Fear 14.Mean Streets 13.The Age of Innocence 12.The Departed 11.Casino 10.The Aviator 9.The King of Comedy 8.The Color of Money 7.After Hours 6.Taxi Driver 5.Hugo 4.The Last Temptation of Christ 3.Raging Bull 2.Goodfellas 1.GANGS OF NEW YORK Down to the last four Scorsese films I need to see. After that, I will be ready for The Wolf of Wall Street in the fall.
I've gotta say, while both The Works and [the films of] series are good, The Works stands head and shoulders above the other. It's the use of music. You just get how to mold video to a specific song, and it's wonderful. Bravo. ^_^
