Making a Rolling Road Base to Test the RC V8 Car!

2023 ж. 24 Жел.
1 031 494 Рет қаралды

I must make the gearbox work, the car has the power to use the 3rd gear and it continues to accelarate.
The engine can be easily fixed. I just need a piston/rod and we're back!

That guy on here said “it’s just a kit, anybody can build it” talking about the engine kit that you START with… is he blind about ALL the custom components that you design and make? Or the car that the engine goes in? He is obviously jealous of your engineering skills and your ability to build something so freaking awesome!! I’ll bet that dude has trouble building a Tamiya car😳… lol

  • It's insane how skilled you are on crafting such small pieces with this level of precision while making everything work together. I'm looking at the gearbox and wondering if heat can be a thing in the long term and if it's possible to add something to cool it down. Another thing that came to my mind is to try and balance the wheels (maybe craft some yourself with aluminum? Or just add some weight where neede to balance it off) in order to get less vibration, more grip and less mechanical stress on chassis, suspensions and probably the differential too. I know nothing about rc cars and I'm not a mechanic either so I'm just trying to guess possible issues and most likely saying things you already noticed yourself or decided they are no big deals

  • Awe, man! She threw a rod. This is bad news for you, and great news for me. Now I get to see you make replacements. I'm glad to see your transmission is coming along too. If I had to guess why second gear is not engaging, I would say it's maybe the hard edges where the dogs mesh. Or maybe too much friction.

  • Jhonny, Glow Plugs (spark plugs) are heat graded meaning if you use a hotter plug like the ones you replaced, will advance ignition timing, cooler plug will have opposite effect. your Rod failiure could be because you have inadvertantly advanced the ignition timing!

    @Ni9kye@Ni9kye4 ай бұрын
    • Its not a spark plug... the name says it?

      @Wazaarbazaar@Wazaarbazaar4 ай бұрын
    • yes your correct, its a glow plug, johnny reffered to it as a spark plug in his video. In any case Not all glow plugs are the same, they are heat graded also there is a diffrance between 2 stroke and 4 stroke glow plugs. it gets a little complicated, but you can measure a noticable diffrance in performance. Peramiters such as compression, nitro content 2 and 4 stroke and desired rpm all come into play. a glow plug manufacture called Model Techniques made an extensive data sheet, listing cases for a full range of their plugs. Back in the Day i had a hot rodded Spitfire using up to 40% nitro methane. Selecting the correct plug was essential... in any case i more than doubled the power( according to the propeller it could swing) Fun times =) @@Wazaarbazaar

      @Ni9kye@Ni9kye4 ай бұрын
    • Somthing else to consider maybe to add a varible resistor in the glow plug circut, inorder to adjust the voltage going to the glow plugs, this would in theory allow you to dial in when the mixture ignites, like a crude method of advancing/retarding when the mixture ignites inside the combustion chamber, just a thought.

      @russcole5685@russcole56854 ай бұрын
    • yes i wasnt 100% sure, i do know some glow motors used to run a constant current to the plugs to prevent them from going out. in which cast it would be possible to run a very cold plug, and utlise a constant current and use a resistor to ignite the fuel at the desired timing! @@russcole5685

  • Real RC hobbyist right here, making your own parts like we did back in the good old days, not this ready-to-crash all-plastic stuff they’ve got out today. We had RC planes for decades with very few problems, but when RTF drones that use a phone as a controller came out, we got all these new regulations. I’m all for getting more younger folks into the hobbies but enough of them don’t pay their dues first and just get into trouble with stuff.

  • i always am just waiting for JQ90s next video. in the world today surly biggest gripe has got to be the time between vids. but to my personal opinion the just next level build ideas, and then the powerplant choices with the overall functionality and melodic cohesion. is second to none. JQ focuses on perfect harmony must be achieved because nothing else is acceptable. oh i for got to mention that he's gotta be a self taught, at least in the years ive watched JQ i dont remember seening any custom parts ever tossed to machine another. first shot and never wastes material. JQ when machining could more likely run circles around most machinist instructors here on the tube.

  • What gets me about these engines is. They can range anywhere between 1,000 and 6000 each when he gets a new one he opens it up and runs it right out of the box which usually results in terrible performance and something being broken. Then in the next video you see that you need about $100,000 worth of tools and equipment and about a million dollars worth of knowledge to keep them running

  • Ouch, too bad about the engine, but nice work on the transmission. A little tweaking on the brass dogs will probably get it to shift. They're always fairly loose in a MC transmission. Usually the 'pin' side is almost round, rather than elongated, to allow plenty of slack for engagement.😉

  • 0:21 rather than brass, you have two other options (that go two different ways, depending on what you want) that are softer than brass, but stronger than plastic. Tin and aluminium. Tin's going to be heavier and aluminium lighter. I'm not sure what you want of that part, but brass may be too strong and break other bits. Just a thought thrown out there. Merry Holidays! Next year you're going to hit 2 million subscribers for sure! :)
