Greatest captain in the history of the league without a doubt. The ways in which he excelled weren't as pleasing to the eye as Scholes' or Lampard's attributes but there is no possible way you could leave him out of an all time Premier League XI. Having four English players on for this was probably a mistake.

He's right though. These days, especially with full-backs, everyone wants them to be brilliant at going forward and it often feels like that becomes more of a priority than their ability to defend well. The best defenders are those who do their primary job brilliantly, and it's a bonus if they happen to be good at going forward as well. It should never be the other way round but these days I think those priorities have become skewed.

Its just that I'm a defender myself and when i played the only time i went past the half-way line would be either for a last minute corner, or if i happened to take the ball there and offload it as quickly as possible to get back.

That's the beauty of football. There's so much variety, you can't really pick the perfect 11. If they build 3 teams with 3 different formation, we'll have much better conclusion. 4-4-2 with Gerrard and Lampard has been tried and tetsted way too many times. It just couldn't work out. The combo would be much better in 4-5-1.

Meanwhile KDB is one of the greatest midfielders of this generation. The thing with hazard was he wouldn’t have good games. He would have a good 10 seconds in a game. But what he would do in them ten seconds would end up winning the game for Chelsea. He wasn’t inconsistent that’s just what he was like. He is without doubt one of the best players in the prem of the last 5-10 years we are so lucky to grace some of these names

I like Henry a lot because he was really gifted but Frank Lampard and Patrick Vieira are my all time favorite PL players. Their understanding of the game was just beautiful.
Yes I’m a Chelsea fan but regardless I’d still say Cech, more consistent than de gea, turned up when the club needed him most (2012 championships league) and was still world class at mid 30s. True gentleman of a player too.

Henry and Shearer are literally no brainers. Until Shearers record is broken he has to be considered the best striker. Henry is the best player to play in the league
Missed a trick there- Viera and Scholes. Both hard, both proper footballers, both intelligent, both tracked back and joined attacks.

Scholes was a good player for most of his career and a great one in his last few years after he was moved to a deeper position cause of all the fuss around tiki-taka. History has made him out to be better than he ever was.

Scholes was that good, The greatest manager alive had to beg him to come out of retirement. If an England manager played him in his right position I think there is a chance we might have won a tournament. Doesn’t that just show how some of the amazing talents that’s played in the league that some of the biggest names still don’t even get a mention. There are countless players that deserve a mention but didn’t, the premier league 11 is probably the hardest 11 to pick, you could pick anyone of the players mentioned and plenty who weren’t and still come up with a world class 11.

Didn’t even mention Yaya! After what he did at city, completely revolutionised city, could do it all, absolute beast in the air and one of the most difficult to tackle players I’ve ever seen and has an incredible goal tally with an array of absolute worldies.
