  • A fun fact: Arthur's hat was actually a keepsake of his father (even though they didn't have a good relationship). "Arthur Morgan was born circa 1863 to Beatrice and Lyle Morgan. His mother died when he was very young, and his father was a petty criminal and outlaw, who was arrested for larceny in 1874 when Arthur was 11 years old. At some point, Lyle was killed and Arthur witnessed it, donning his hat afterward." That's probably the reason why that very worn leather hat is Arthur's favorite and he wears it despite the weight and weather.

    @namtruong9476@namtruong94764 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah. But it's not practical to wear it in all weather. The 19th century folks on the frontier were practical. I agree he would have kept it, though.

  • One thing of note on the guns: The relative difference in damage inflicted by the firearms is off. For example, the Schofield is depicted as being more powerful than the Rancher, despite the latter being based on a gun that was capable of firing a more powerful cartridge due to the break-top Schofield having limitations on cartridge pressure. Also, the Volcanic pistol is depicted as being exceptionally powerful, when the real life version was so anemic that even something like a few layers of clothing could prevent the rounds from penetrating deep enough to cause significant damage.

In the early 80s when I was around 4 or 5, our family would go to his house every Sunday after church to visit and have dinner. I hated the fact that the only thing we were allowed to watch was westerns...lol. However I didn’t realize until playing this game that the Wild West still existed during his lifetime. He was in his late 90s in roughly 1983 and would have been a child during the timeline of this game, a bit older than I was when I watched them with him. • Which is precisely why I'd like Rockstar to go back and do RDR completely anew, graphics-wise, and keep the bulk of the game identical to how it was previously, so that you could play the two games back-to-back and get the same level of graphical detail. It's one of the few games that is truly worthy of that treatment.

    • I generally find that when something is deliberately released as a prequel to an existing story, it's best to experience the original first. RDR2 assumes that the player has already played 1. Likewise, much of the interest in the first game is unraveling the story and relationships between John and his surviving gang members, an aspect that's lost on players if they've already played the second.

Fun fact, the rifle still served as the main battle rifle for the royal italian army during the second world war, 50-ish years after its inital introduction

    • as a gamer this game is a grate digital experience it looks grate and has a lot of detail built in it that will have you amazed as you find how just how much detail is in this digital experience but as a game it sucks the controls are clunky and take a long time to get use to them the bounty system is not very well explained in game like the majority of the mechanics its left up to the player to figure out how thy all work and intertwine and the time it takes to do anything is just way to long it is a vary slow game it is literally a chore to play so much so it is not fun to play which is key to being a game a lot of the times animations will lock you up and you cant abort the actions that you can actually die from it you allies in mission are dumb bullet magnets so much so that you will fail more missions because one of them died then you will fail a mission because you died and the ending to this game is more drown out and has more false endings then the third lord of the rings movie that everyone complains about for never ending the last 20 hours of this game drag on needlessly the climax has already happened and because this is a prequel most of what is played out in the last 20 hours was already covered in the first game and took less time to cover it playing threw the ending of this game i was literally singing out loud this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started programming not knowing what it was and thy will keep on programming just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started playing not knowing what it was and thy will keep on playing just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started programming not knowing what it was and thy will keep on programming just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started playing not knowing what it was and thy will keep on playing just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started programming not knowing what it was and thy will keep on programming just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started playing not knowing what it was and thy will keep on playing just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started programming not knowing what it was and thy will keep on programming just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started playing not knowing what it was and thy will keep on playing just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started programming not knowing what it was and thy will keep on programming just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started playing not knowing what it was and thy will keep on playing just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started programming not knowing what it was and thy will keep on programming just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started playing not knowing what it was and thy will keep on playing just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started programming not knowing what it was and thy will keep on programming just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend some people started playing not knowing what it was and thy will keep on playing just because this is the game that never ends it goes on and on my friend game of the year this is not their is just to much wrong with it for it to be game of the year thy dropped fun for realism and gamer's don't play games for realism we play them to we play them to have fun and to escape from reality

      @ArizonaGhostriders@ArizonaGhostriders5 жыл бұрын
    • yes games don't mind realism as long as its still fun once the realism interferes with the fun that's is ware the deal is broken and RDR2 brakes that deal on so many levels its not even fun its just a chore and its not even the loading or cleaning of the gun that is the problem in RDR2 its the cooking mechanics ware you have to cook one piece of meat at a time no batch cooking for Arthur the horse riding ware you hit trees all the time horses will not run in to a tree that's why only videos you can find that shows a horse running into a tree its from a video game even the creators of zelda knew this little fact about horses that why in breath of the wild you cant hit a tree on a house the wanted system is never fully explained and is actually very in depth and needs explanation to fully understand but its never explained how it all works also defending your self gets you in trouble but thy don't get in trouble for attacking you like i was jumped on the road so i killed my attackers another NPC saw this and ran off and reported that i murdered the people who were trying to kill me and i got a bounty or i road up on a NPC looking at a dead body i did not kill but he reported me the person who shows up to the crime scene after he found the body's i did not kill but because he saw my face i got a bounty for people i did not even kill that's how bad the bounty system is and no i could not have killed them and forgot about it because it was the first time i was ever in that area and somehow he know my face and my name to report me for a crime i did not commit like i was wearing a name tag the control scheme is so bad do you press it once tap it repeatedly or hold it thy all do something different and are all contextually based and why is the get on your house button and the grapple someone button the same button so if someone is next to your house and you try and jump on your horse you ether start choking a random NPC or you straight up tackle them to the ground getting you a bounty ( side not im dyslexic and use google to try and make sure i spell things right like control scheme and the first thing that popes up as a suggestion was control scheme red dead 2 that's how bad it is ) its the fact you cant abort actions mid way threw the action once you hit that button you must let the animation play out its the fact that their is 6 different visible stat bars you must keep an eye on and one invisible one each with their own restore item 1 health bar 2 health core 3 stamina bar 4 stamina core 5 dead eye bar 6 dead eye core and the invisible weight meter that's not counting ammo honor gun degradation cleanliness and so on then their is 4 visible stats for your horse and i invisible one each with their own restore item 1 health bar 2 health core 3 stamina bar 4 stamina core and the invisible weight meter that's not counting bonding or cleanliness this game is an exercise in extreme multitasking their is so much to keep track of on a moment by moment basis their is your health stamina dead eye how is your horse health stamina how is your wights are you eating enough how are your weapons are thy clean how is your camp you bringing them food and money you buying them stuff are you tracking down the items thy request because even tho thy can go out and do what you do all thy do is stay at cam asking you to do for them so realistic its the fact that your gang members will step out of cover when their is still people shooting and get shoot and die which fails you the mission the hunting only perfect hides are worth anything finding them is a chore on its own then their is having to know the exact weapon and ammunition to use to get the perfect hide and if you accidentally hit the dead body with your horse or kick it because you pressed the wrong button by mistake it lowers the quality of the hide the legendary animals consist of the same thing find 3 hints that are realy close together then kill the animal and as long as you don't use explosives or shotguns to kill them the hide is always good making it easier to take down a legendary then it is to fined and skin a perfect hide thus making legendary animals more underwhelming then thy should be their is just so much wrong with this game for it to be fun and the longer you play it the more you see its flaws i have completed the main story once with a 84% total completion then i started a new game ware im currently just starting chapter 3 with a 45% total completion so i have more then enough experience with the game to know what it is im talking about what is sad is im having more fun playing threw spyro reignited then i did with RDR2 and its not because its an easier game but because when i fail in spyro i feel like it is my fault because i messed up as ware when i fail in RDR2 all i can blame is the game and how it control's because instead of letting me open my satchel and use an item its grayed out because Arthur is currently in a animation and by time i back out to let him finish the animation so i can go back in and use the item he has died because i could not use the item i needed when i needed to use it or one my other gang members in their wisdom decides walking into gun fire is a good idea also picking what guns i want in my load out on the way to a mission just to find out once i hop off my horse my load out did not equip so i have to walk up to my horse just to get the weapons i already put in the slots i wanted them in before i got off my hose back into the slots i had them in is frustrating or you on you horse using a bow shooting deer and you need to hop of your horse somehow the bow you were just using got left on the horse as you hoped off or you were just using a rifle and you skin an animal and another one you want walks up you thing if i pull up my gun it should be the last gun i was using that's ware you would be wrong because rock star knows deep down inside that you realy wanted to draw was your handgun not your rifle and you shoot a perfect deer with a handgun instead of a rifle and their goes that perfect hide or lets say your mid skinning animation and a bear or wolf attacks and what you realy want is your rifle that you were just previously use but instead of your rifle you first get mauled because you cant exit an animation and the animation of you carrying a pelt make the animation of you drawing your weapon slower but you also default to your hand gun which is not vary effective against bears and wolfs if i don't stop now i could keep going forever my point is this game has to many probables to be fun all relating to them trying to make it to realistic

The hat thing you mentioned? Well the gang didn't plan on going to the snow they were forced up there so he didnt get time to prep for clothes he just had what was on the caravan. Some of the little critiques are actually related to the way story unfolds in the same way as the hat. But a fun watch this was.

  • I was always a fan of Western stuff. Not a hardcore fan but I enjoyed it. Gunslingers and wanderers were always an interesting topic for me, so if I may, i would like to ask you a question Are gunslingers an actual group of people? Meaning; when gunslingers walked around towns, they were called gunslingers? Or they were just folk with jobs like lawman that were real good at shooting? And if they job was to be gunslingers, they got paid? Lawman just let them pass? Another quick question: would you consider Rdr2 a game that could be use to learn a little bit from Western USA? If I say to my friends stuff like “The double barrel shotgun was common on that time” would I be correct? Cuz I aint an expert on USA since i am not from there Sorry for the long comment, good video, i really enjoyed it!!!

    @diegodevars4618@diegodevars46185 жыл бұрын
    • Yes on the double barrel shotgun. Gunslingers were called shootist, gun-toters, gunmen, pistoleers...a whole lot of titles. Many were vets from the Civil War that had skills with guns and made a living out of using them. Lawmen, outlaws, hired guns (range wars, private detectives, bounty men, etc)

    @Fl4m3tu5@Fl4m3tu55 жыл бұрын
    • Definitely is plausible, but I haven't seen many period photos in the Western US depicting folks wearing them. Since photos and documentation is provenance from the period, it's hard for me to say they were common. But....I keep looking!

    • Arizona Ghostriders that is a good point! And i loved the video btw! Could you perhaps do a part 2 to this video since all this western stuff is really intriguing and i would love to know what else rockstar games got right and what they got wrong? I mean from clothing to way they speak..whatever! Ever since i played the original Red Dead Redemption i've been really interested in the 19th century america from the weapons to how they got their food! And you seem to know your stuff so i'd be interested in more. Greetings from Finland!

  • Gotta admit I prefer spaghetti westerns for the most part, but Red Dead 2 is just an absolute masterpiece overall. Genuinely epic. I just wish there was a way for non gamers to enjoy the whole story, they could watch videos but then they'd miss on all the details and choices that make the player bond with Arthur so much which gives the story so much impact
