Recently, I've been thinking about what are my values in life. What are the things I try to live by when I wake up? This inspired me to go out and ask people the same questions and share the stories with you all! I hope you enjoy.

  • One of my values is to accept people as they are, and accept life as it comes. Then there is this: Years ago I was studying abroad and felt a bit lost. Then, in a moment of clearness, I thought that the other exchange students probably felt the same. And decided to say something nice to someone every day. This was the best decision of my life. Because I started to find positive things to say when I met someone, but that became second nature after some time. So now when I see someone, I immediately notice little nice things. After some time I became a teacher and took it one step further. At the beginning of a class I checked the presentation list without looking at the class. To find out if I had really see every student, and no one slipped from my attention. So I trained myself to really notice people, because I think it’s important. Needless to say I never felt lost again in my life because I’m to busy to with other people. And the last one is the same as the man enjoying his ice cream. Enjoy life as it is. These values made me a pathological happy person. Edit: I answered your question before watching the video, nice to find people mentioning the same things as I did. Including yourself. A beautiful video.

  • A big one of mine is acceptance for whatever life throws at me. It’s my biggest strength and my biggest weakness though. I stay cool in stressful situations, I can accept a less than ideal situation pretty quick without complaining about it and actually turn it around to make it a postive experience. (Pouring rain on wedding day for example) But I also stay in situations that are dangerous, toxic or just bad for me because I accept whatever situation I’m in. Another big one is faithfulness/loyalty, also a big strength and weakness. If you have my loyalty, you have it forever. I’ll stand by you no matter how you treat me. No matter how you treat me. I’ll never ever walk away from a relationship/friendship/marriage. Even if it’s for the best.

For the longest time it was just because it was so beautiful, and I have a couple family members that live in Amsterdam too! Now though? Coincidentally enough, I happened to stumble across a few great new Dutch friends within the past year or so, and hearing their experiences and wanting to grow closer with them has certainly made me more interested! 😄At the very least, I plan on visiting for a couple weeks next summer to finally get to see the country in person for the first time and visit friends and family, and, if all goes well, I plan on moving there in a few years! :) The people, the inclusivity, the positivity, the greater connection to nature even... it's all really refreshing to see, and hear about from my friends too!

I don't need too many luxuries, but I do want to be happy and healthy, and have a comfortable place to call home. The rest of any luxuries (holidays, festivals, going out, etc.) are all a bonus and usually a pleasant surprise. And I love sharing positive energy/vibes too, especially with loving friends and family, and nothing makes me happier than having them share theirs with me too!

  • Beautiful, Sam! I enjoy that you film all around the Netherlands. Naarden seems like such a peaceful city. Everyone was so thoughtful and sincere and that’s very endearing. And what a wise cat! Best answer ever. 😂 My values are very much in alignment with many of the people you spoke with; like the woman walking her dog said, just "to be able to walk" in peace - aka “freedom to just be.” The value of feeling safe is also priceless. I suppose “safe” and “free” are along the same vein, but those are the two things I value the most. Along with honesty and respect. ✌🏾☮

    • Lol, I think I was a cat in a past life 😼. I'm curious to know, how do you choose where you are going to film? Are these places you have visited before, or do you just randomly pick a spot and go?

      @dashawnbennett7274@dashawnbennett72749 ай бұрын
    • Honestly, it's a mix of random and planned haha. So this video for example, earlier that day I was at an event for my Dutch classes and I asked a fellow student for suggestions on where to shoot a video and she gave me this city! So I went and did it same day haha. But other times, there's a particular event or something in a city I want to cover, so I already have it planned.

  • Same as you already said. I don't know if these things reaaly count as values but I do feel they're important. Therefore I'd like to share them. For me I've got two main values. Of course there are others but these resonate the most with me. The first one is: expectations are the thieves of joy. So I try to not expect to much of myself. The person I was 5 years ago is probably jealous of the position I am in today. The second is: the most fun can be had outside your comfort zone. I always lock myself up in my own home while the world has so much to offer. Sometimes I just need to get over myself and I always find out that I'm having way more fun that way.

  • I came to the Netherlands to live (and hopefully stay for ever) from Argentina on July 11th. I did watch your previous videos and those helped me make my mind that the Netherlands should be my place to go to once I got my Italian citizenship (seeking a better place to live). I do feel a lot of peace in here, everything is so peaceful and "quiet" in a way (maybe not noise, but the ambience feels so pleasant and peaceful). I do like that, but I have to get used to it because, in Buenos Aires City, we have chaos everyday and huge buildings (not like NYC), but also using public transport is a little bit of chaos and here it is so perfectly thought, balanced, and easy to use that looks so perfect (perfection is boring). Still, I do love this place and I hope we cross paths one day and I can say hi to you in person! P.S.: I am looking for a truly good Japanese restaurant serving Ramen and Udon, I was not able to find one good place that also is not extremely expensive, do you happen to have any recommendations (In Amsterdam or any place honestly)

    • Oh wow, that's crazy to hear that these videos helped solidify your decision on moving here! I could definitely imagine that there's a big contrast in terms of peace/organization here compared to Buenos Aires. I lived in Sanitago Chile for 1.5 years so I experienced a bit of the life in South America (which I loved) and I could understand how life here is an adjustment. Feel free to hit me up on instagram or via email if there are any questions you have and it would be dope to cross paths one day! As far as ramen/udon recommendations, I don't eat those foods unfortunately, so I don't have any personal recs, but hopefully this can help: bondeparture.com/best-ramen-spots-in-amsterdam/

  • 1. Stilstand is niet altijd achteruitgang. (it's ok to stop every once in a while to reflect back on the past and reevaluate) 2. Behandel de mensen in jouw level net zoals jij zelf graag behandeld zou willen worden. (treat the people in your life the same way you would like to be treated) 3. Respect is een tweerichtingsweg. (respect is a two way street) 4. Doe normaal, dan ben je al gek genoeg. (act normal, you're already crazy enough)

We saw a lot of Pilot Whale’s. After we saw the third pod, I started to get annoyed that we weren’t looking for other whale species. I kinda was in shock that I was thinking that way, because at one point I realized I probable will never see them again! I also took my husband (back then my boyfriend) for granted. It almost ended our relationship. That’s when I vowed to never take anything for granted.

When you get older contacts friends become less due to deaths mostly or those young enough work and family i think its just lifes circle our parents grandparents had much the same type of changes must just go with the flow as much as possible.
