Another time lapse I filmed at work. This time a delivery mileage R8 who had a little friend living inside sometime in the last 5 years! Someone had a decent stab at fixing it, but the fuel pump wiring had been chewed to bits. To get to this wiring, the fuel tanks needed to come out. To get those out, the engine has to be removed! The following was filmed over roughly 40 hours during the last couple of months (awaiting authority to repair and for back ordered fuel tank link pipes that had been chewed)
On a side note, when the car is run up on the ramp, it had already been warmed up and checked over to make sure there were no major issues.
Nice to see a really good mechanic at work.
Wow! This guy knows his way round and R8!! Great video thanks for uploading!
what an amazing sound, brilliant technician
This mechanic is worth gold. Not all mechanics at Audi are allowed to work on the R8! This mechanic is a professionally trained R8 mechanic who has completed additional training at Quattro GmbH !!
Great work on the R8 mate. a real beauty
Some AUDI factory rep will watching this and go: "I don't see what the fuss is about, this job should bill no more than 6 hours. Look how fast this guy is working."
Robert Mintun: LOL And meantime they are updating ELSA's workunits for codes 1001... and 9709.... :-)
Its a big job, we have just had the engine and box out of a 2010 model that had an engine oil leak.
Excellent job man....A man with magic hand... You should start your own garage. Well done.
Awesome job for both clip and car, well done boys, your great techs
Amazing skill remembering how to put it back together.
that darn spark plug... took him a whole 10 minutes, what a fast worker. Seriously though, great work!
You and arthur tussik on youtube are my favorites so far. Good job
"Going for a Cuppa!!" at 10:04 - well deserved
This is too much for a regular mechanic, may be or it may not be, but this man did an excellent work on this advanced car technology. Congrats!
U have rats at the end of your Congrats! .............................mmmmh
good one, well done....lol
Better you than me!! I just had two pull both cylinder heads off of a twin turbo a8l and replace one cylinder head.. 30hrs warranty and took me at least 60, the first time I worked on it
You have my dream job. Nice work! I sometimes wish I went the car maintenance route vs my current career path. Had no idea experienced audi techs could push 6 figures until recently. I’m ashamed to admit how much $$$$$ I’ve thrown away if I could’ve done my own work the past couple decades vs paying others..
Well done,Doctor.
Top End Skills Buddy 👍🏼
love the cars on lifts dancing in the background.
Good job guys!!! And what sound!!!!😲
Somebody give that man a raise!!
Eugene Cooper Jr Why? He is just doing his Job the way it must to be done.
Epic work guys!
What a great knowledge is needed to perform that job!!
Job well done. Love workshop banter :-)
I once spent 6 hours looking for a chewed air line on my touareg's air suspension. Bloody critters can cause such small but major havoc.
Love the new wires colour code, all yellow, this might help a tech down the road.
randell gribben that is Audi’s standard for wiring repairs so they are easily detectable.
How bout butt connectors ?
graet work mate, keep up the good work !! :)
Great work mate 👌
10:04 thumbs up for that work and the deserved cuppa! :D
Aposto que esse trabalho nao saiu por menos de 70 mil, parabéns para o profissional da área !!!
This car will never be same.
Gotta love Porsches, tank in a 911 would take no more than 1 hour to remove, and engine out is less than 7. Great video
what a great vid and a good job done
great video , looks like a lot of work .
I remember when I had my ws6 I pulled up next to one on a long stretch of hwy just me and him. It was a Japanese businessman which is very rare where I am lol. I was in 3rd and I was ready to go but he wanted none of it he wouldn't even turn his head. I said ah whatever and hit the throttle went up to about 180kph. I was pretty far away from him and he decided to floor it and man did it come up on my asd quick lol. Really good looking car always liked them. Also this is a awesome video love it.
wow that man did a great job!
Meanwhile the tech in the back is still finishing up an oil change :)
Just say I’m a auto electrician for Mercades Benz..jobs like this are bloody tricky Well done sir
That's soo funny how everyone in the office came out to listen to it run haha
Mann , i want to see morr job like this !!!
What was said at 8:10 by all the Techs (started by a remark at 8:07)?
Love these videos .... What a job...
Thanks! I will try and get some more up, just depends on what work I get!
good mechanic
Ohh i would hate to see the bill for that little exercise man! great job by the way
The more I see things like this the more I think about letting the cat hunt in the garage.
Great Tech!!!
wow they have quarter panel covers accustomed to the R8?
Hey it seems like nice lift, I tried to pause to see it better but I haven't found a clear shot... do you have a better picture of it?
wow.... good job ! merci pour la video ..
Nice video mate. What Audi dealership is this
Great video when can we see some more :-)
Guessing from the back ground, you guys work on a lot of toyotas right?
Hey Guys, i have a Audi A3 2.0T (2007) sportback. When the car gets a bit warmer, on idle i can hear the idle clearly and it sounds a bit like a diesel on idle. I've heard its apparently the way the cars fuel system uses the injectors, but have also heard it could be something like a timing chain, or something to that effect? would you by any chance be able to provide your thoughts?
How long do you think it would take to self teach this disassembly? only for this specific car model only.
awesome work have any bolts left over hehe
liked the video and the music.(Who did the music?(3:53)
honstly.. if i was a rat i might have choicen an R8 as living place too...
Did you solder those wire or use heat shrink crimp connectors?
that work is fantastic but i have only one wuestion there........ why that service did not have an original cables colorings?
It's so the wiring is immediately identifiable as a repaired section of loom in case of future issues (there won't be but it's what audi insist we use)
+smokeygsi Good video what time did Audi allocate you for this repair
During the swap no covers over the rear fenders. At the test run covers. if you have the covers then use them.
lol 10:04 he flashes a sign up GOING FOR A CUPPA !! LMAO
Seems to involve roughly the same amounts of steps as changing the clutch in a front wheel drive car...
wow , no room for guess work i guess . these guys know whats cracking sure
Can you remove the transmission on its own? Or is it with the engine ?
was the tea good nice job btw :)
carbon nut thanks dude, the tea is always good!! lol
Outstanding! Can you imagine the bill on this... I think the Rat should pay!
What a mission! How much was the customer quoted and how many bolts/fixings did you have left over? :D
Didn't actually have enough fixings! some one had been at it before in an attempt to repair the damage! Price wise i have no idea, but its around a 35 hour book figure time at £156 an hour! I am pretty certain some sort of deal was made however
To be honest, I can't remember how much the bill was, didn't have enough bolts on this one, someone had been there before me
+smokeygsi ..Excellent Work Commander!!😊😊
good jog👍
good job
daaamn...how many hours was the customer billed for? how did a delivery mileage car sit for 5 years?
Good job guys, i will never this problem with Audi R8... ´cause i don´t have one
good job!
Rat to R8 - I'll be back!
Top service ....
😎👍Good job
lol look at all those Audi's. All that reliability!!
Taz1451 its a service centre. not all of the Audi's are there because they all have rats in them. lol
respect
Amazing
Good mechanic
I guess this wasn’t a warranty job 😬 did the owner’s car insurance cover it?
Should sue the rat for damages.
The owner did so, and the rat was sentenced to feline execution.
@@kdmq LMFAO! BTW, ty for reminding me of this old video.
Good job...
good job
Dude I hope you did some engine work done.
Damn, that looks fun but at the same time pain in the ass cause of that harness
Audi, backordered parts? Still a problem 15 years later? Hope this was customer-pay too! 😎
are you sure this isn't a Chop Shop LOL
Are you sure......... Moron, idiot, imbecile, Everything was done right! Fucken idiot! Get a life!!!!
@@ARKANOVAC25 I know it was done right... It was a joke because of how fast it was done...
I would assume that they did not put the newbe on this job !
That was really cool 😎😎😎😎
Vou resumir em um palavra "parabéns"
What kind of lift is that I would like to buy one.
Did you give the owner the video? :)
How many hours did it take?
That rodent had good taste! Sadly... it'll be right back at it.
Hopefully not in this one!!
+DowellForPASenate nope, we are in the UK
honda rodent tape part number 4019-2317 Or chili powder, tabasco Should help next time.
Haha hopefully not?? But the best advice given in the vid was the owner to get a cat!
haha I agree rodent cars sorta suck! but man the worst ticket I can remember is "Kitty In The Drive Belt" LoL
holy shit.....that's a A LOT OF WORK
Rick Su Holy Beautiful
Steve...you remember the oil??
All was done nicely and professionaly, apart from revving that cold engine to high revs.
How much was the Bill for the repair😕
Great job fellas but just a little neater please.
hi smokeygsi, i wonder if you can help me. we are fixing a r8 but 3 conectors are lost, we dont know where they go and where are conected to. can you pls help us? thx. i can show you some pictures.
From one technician to another....beautiful job on the wiring repair AND doing what was, no doubt, a fucking bitch of a powertrain R&R !!
Do they only allow senior Audi mechanics to work on these R8s?
Derek GB You have to be Master Guild and R8 certified from what I understood when I worked there. I wasn’t even allowed to do an oil change on it with my mentor standing right there next to me. They put me on another job while he did it.
