How LUXURY Watches are Made? (Mega Factories Video)
Patek Philippe manufactures its own watch components. Like other Swiss manufacturers, the company produces mostly mechanical movements with automatic or manual winding mechanism, but has also been producing quartz watches. In fact, Patek Philippe was one of the twenty Swiss watch companies that founded the Centre Electronique Horloger and collaboratively developed the first Swiss quartz movements, such as the Beta 21 movement (1969) which was used by several manufacturers in their watches. In 1950s, the company even produced a prototype for a mechanical digital wristwatch, Ref. 3414.
Patek Philippe popularized complications such as perpetual calendar, split-seconds hand, chronograph, and minute repeater in mechanical watches. In 2009, the company announced that all of its future mechanical timepieces would be imprinted with the Patek Philippe Seal which requires a precision of -3/+2 seconds per day for diameters no less than 20 mm and -5/+4 seconds per day for diameters less than 20 mm, surpassing the highest industry standard of watch manufacturing and thus abandoning the Geneva Seal.
In 2014, Patek Philippe introduced the Grandmaster Chime Ref. 5175, the most complicated wristwatch ever built by the manufacturer (with 20 complications, but no tourbillon), to celebrate its 175th anniversary. Only seven pieces of Ref. 5175 were created, with one permanently residing in the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva. The sale price for each of the other six pieces was 2.5 million CHF (2.6 million US dollars).

What if the watchmaker accidentally sneezes while assembling the watch ! 😆
Yikes !
Just gotta clean it
Oh man, or twitches/gets a chill...
Usually they are sent to prison where they starve to death
Hahahahahahahaha....@@walterlol
this is why they’re expensive. the preciseness and effort to make this masterpiece, people dont complain why luxury watches are expensive 😂
Thank you for your feedback! Which manufacturing process do you like the most?
That last percentage that was shared was almost as impressive as the watch makers assembly, and attention to detail, they say beauty I'd in the eye of the beholder, but just the assembly process and the attention to detail inside the whole process was a thing of beauty and art, true Master craftsmanship, thank you for sharing, I see more towards the true appreciation of such a piece and that's just as good for me as seeing it in person almost.
What a fine art.
It really is !
God Bless these architects, engineers, and artisans
All of them white men, funnily enough.
I love everything about it!! Very Mastery
Realy I like this factory
It needs super mega atomic patience Wow
Insanely large amount of work for just a timepiece.
Among hobbyists, great store is placed on the use of finger cotts to prevent finger prints marring the finish on parts and casing. These were not used in the assembly of this watch? Gloves were only used at the end?
Accuracy will be way off if he uses gloves. As per mentioned, they're made with very low tolerance, so, high accuracy is the key here
@Sulungu-sulunguu the assembly should be done with the gloves worn, the assembly would be carried out without affecting the system if the machining were done with high precision, b/c the parts would land in place without improvising the position of the parts with manual controll, that's why they are machined with high precision and efficient design the prints and electrolytes would definitely impede the materials to corrode cannot understand that a 30million dollar piece was built with set of bare hands of whom he calls professional
Yes,I would be honored to own one.
Attention to details 👌
Fantastic, such skills! However compared to building a house this is a luxury reserved for the few.
Awesome! So beautiful!👏👏
Fantastic piece of Engineering by highly skilled craftsman. ludicrously expensive, rarely will it be ever understood the talent that's gone into the making it by its future owners. Those with the knowledge to understand the complexity of such an item will not necessarily be those that can afford to own it.
Well, now I understand why it's expensive
3.8 M 😀Hard Work 👋👋
Is this process any different ( better/similar ) than handwork from the likes of A Lange & Sohne, Arnold & Son, FP Journe, DeBethune, Urban Jurgenson? I've heard that Patek annual watch volumes are considerably larger than some of the ones I mentioned... Would that make Patek similar as being the Rolex within the group of ultra limited- exclusive timepieces?
Amazing
Makes me want to buy one of these watches just to show my appreciation for these wonderfully skilled people!......my bank account tells me I might have to wait a while though :(
I love it,very mastery
The jigsaw puzzles which we all solved right from our childhood days are manufactured with some great engineering behind them. Watch this exciting and informative video to learn more! Watch here: kzhead.info/sun/od2lddCreWuDnn0/bejne.html
Wow!
And this a modern clockwork watch! Imagine the pocket watches of pre-industrial revolution area!
GOOD WATCH.
Great song choice.
I want to see a watch being fully made by hand....like a patek Philippe from the 1850s being made purely by hand
I saw an interview with Philippe Dufour and he explains the process of hand making a watch there might be footage of him actually making one.
Look up Greubel Forsey Handmade 1 there’s a few videos on them making the watch ENTIRELY by hand
It's sad that the trade of watchmaking is declining. I guess that's true for a lot of the old school trades.
Yes, traditional trades like watchmaking are facing challenges in the modern world. Which manufacturing process did you like the most?
Must be hard on the eyes to be looking through a magnifying glass for long periods. I wonder how long a watchmaker can do the job before the eye sight is affected.
masterpieces create by human beinh
0:02 which sharpener is that ?
Wonderfully intricate work, stunning attention to detail, but ugly watch.
But a patek. Id still take it if offered and then sell it to buy me a house.
…but my $40 Timex tells as good of time as this watch....I don't get it. And if someone wants to steal my $40 watch then they can have it and I won't be heart broken.
wow super
Thank you! Cheers!
Labor of love.
why is this so complicated?
No words
Thank you for your feedback! Which manufacturing process do you like the most?
Great video. But I'd say that more work went into all of those beautification parts than into the movement itself. And I guess most of us don't even want to know how much it costs to service a piece like that.
I will buy my wife a LUXURY, no need to think anymore
Yes i like have any one pattik fillipe Swiss. Iraqi.
For a watch to be that expensive and use IIII and not IV is wrong. I don't see VIIII instead of IX so someone knows roman numerals.
I think it is done on purpose, like a unique detail which you won't find on any watch. And I would guess if this "bug" will make its name, some watches in a future will have it as well. Similar like casio F-91w LED backlight. Some people whants to have this watch not for being perfect, but for its history.
@@goodwill7643 It's a technique taken from the 1800s to let people, who don't know Roman Numerals, read the time. It divides 12 into 3 sections of I, V, and X's.
I agree, everything about the watch is perfect……except that. Very annoying
The llll balances the face of the clock better as the 4 is mirroring the Vlll/8....simply its just more aesthetically pleasing
@@danielsanchez1271 that is right
OR,. U COULD JUST TELL TIME,. BY PUTING A STICK ON GROUND.... AND LOOK AT THE SHADE OF THAT STICK.. IT WILL TELL U THE TIME..
I have one of them.
we just saw 2.6 million dollars being made.
They keep making things complicated, so the have a good reason to set price to the moon
The hard work, skills and technology is respectable, but still incredibly overpriced for what it is. Just like any other luxury items in the world.
Very true indeed. What part of the manufacturing process you liked the most?
No doubt
They sell prestiges
No way. These aren’t Timexes. These are masterpieces of engineering and art, taking months of labor from the best craftsmen in the world to make. The cost is determined by what people are willing to pay. Supply and demand. If no one is willing to pay $3.8 million for one, the price will come down. The market sets the price.
Whether it’s overpriced or not, there’s no doubt that these masterpieces still walk over any average watch and look like art on your wrists
Wow
what is the point of making so beautiful inside and cover it witch the usual date dial??
I want one
Great watch making and all. Id still prefer a Rolex.
The best video and watch :)
Glad you liked it ! :)
"It all begins with a design." WOW OH WOW! Here is this week's winner of the "CHAMPION OF THE OBVIOUS" award
Manual assembling only for limited edition I don't believe if it is for ordinary product

drop test?
Mega factory?
I am completely worn out after watching that. I need a nap.
It can be overwhelming to watch how a watch is made ! ;)
My head hurts now.
Idk why it is that these youtube channels feel the need to destroy their videos by putting atrocious music in there.
I'll buy one if I win the lotto
You will win amen 🙏 remember me when you do 😢
And in the time it took to make the watch 10 million children worldwide goes to bed hungry 😩🙄
Wait is this running on perpetual motion? Where’s the battery? Did I miss something?
It's a hand wind, because the watch has a minute repeater you won't get enough wind from an automatic rotor.
😳
Not for me thanks. Be too frightened of losing it to wear it.
oh my God that music is horrible
Amazing, but ugly and too big. 38mm is the perfect size for men to me.

What a terrible watch - my father said even if you wrap a potato in gold wrapping it is still a potato - it will always be a potato and stay a potato - sure you have people who, and god only knows why, have so much money that they can buy something so completely overworked, instead of doing something reasonable with the money like paying for the education of some poor child - you never know that child could be the next Einstein or just collateral damage, just another victim of the rich and greedy - I know life sucks, and it is not fair - this is god showing us how stupid it is to have faith - but what we will not do for money - wrap potatoes in gold wrapping and call it a delicate piece of chocolate candy! It is still a potato!
So u and ur father have a bad taste in life 😂
First
**slow clap**
I'd still rather have a knock-off Rolex than a true, honest expensive watch. No worries about damage, it fools the same amount of stupid people motivated by bling and keeps time accurately enough to make it worthwhile.
What an insane amount of painstaking work for a rather ugly and tasteless result! A watch fit for a high-ranking Russian mobster.
can i just say... its ugly?
Столько работы - но часы получились не феншуйные.
