Awesome video Tommy! I do really enjoy the “bring you with me” aspect of your videos. I suspect many of your viewers, like me, enjoy living vicariously through your videos - and the fact that you seem to include the audience so well and relate to the viewers is a nice touch. Your comments are spot on about the M5. It is a mature man’s car, but it means business and has mega power. Given that you had the 911, and wanted an AWD family car - did you consider a Cayenne? I recently picked up a new Cayenne GTS - wow. AWD, lots of space, and the exhaust tone puts every other V8 I’ve driven to shame. It’s like they took your 911 and disguised it as an SUV… it drives that well. Maybe for your “next” car… ;). Keep up the awesome content!
So I did consider the cayenne but ultimately didn’t want an suv. I prefer the sedan

Hey Tommy congrats on the new BMW!! Question, have you noticed any brake squeal from the Carbon Ceramics? I have them on my F82 CS and they sound awful all the time. Wonder if you’ve heard anything on the M5

I love my F90. I've had it for a few years and it still excites me everytime I get into it... and it's got so much power it scares me at times :)

Congratulations. I own the same spec. Since your last video, I see that you swapped out the factory paddle shifters for the M5 CS paddles. Are they original BMW or aftermarket?

That thing is so rad love it! I do have to say, however first time I drove a 991 GT3 on track. I was drifting the hell out of it so as far as the rear traction goes on 911’s, I get what you mean but I also know that you could have a lot of fun and drift the hell out of them with traction control off.
Maybe my T is a bit underpowered. But even at the limit it felt a bit snappy. The M because of the light rear and length feels so much more controlled when sliding out. This makes it insanely fun. The rear tires won’t last long haha
@@TommyLGarage yeah idk maybe seems like these cars when thrown into a comer at the limit of grip with a lift of throttle then a nice stab of the gas will do some nice predictable slides but it’s definitely a different feeling with the engine on the back.
@@BlakesGarage I guess the M has a lower limit. More power helps too :)

Hands free trunk release is a quick in and out directly under roundel. Not slowly. I believe you can close also if you have power trunk. Also, seats are technically ventilated, not cooled. It draws air away from the body, does not blow onto the body. Great car, I had a 2018

I can never get my trunk to open w my foot but it always wants to close on me when I loading the groceries!

I want an m5 in the future so bad! Just got a 540i and I absolutely love it. I myself have a few kids and wanted something larger but still sporty and fun. Not there financially yet for the m5 but eventually I’ll get mine :)
540 is absolutely terrific! And much better on gas.

One thing i must mention about M cars that some overlooked. The wheels fitments on these are perfection.

Hi Tommy I am looking to buy either M3 2018 manual or M5 bmw 2021. I haven’t test drive neither one but I have been driving different 5 series bmw since year 2022. I grew up driving Manuel and feel the urge of the manual. I like your input since you have both.. thank you 🙏 for all your videos

Tommy. Are you going to change the coolant reservoir at some point? I’m sure you know it has given issues to the F90s and can cause a lot of damage.

Be aware with CCB in the rain. Say you're on the highway and have been traveling for some time without touching the brakes. That first time you hit the brakes it will feel like you have no brakes so you'll need to do a double pump, then they'll work as normal. Scared me plenty of times on my f80. Beautiful M5!

@@TommyLGarage Not really. BMW's have an automatic brake drying procedure.
@@_nopestronly when using intermittent wipers. Not when using automatic. And even so still an issue with the ccbs.

Nice M5 and beautiful color. Wonder how much to fill up this baby in your area. It's $5.60-$6 for 91 in my area. Part of the reason I stay away from big ICE.

M5 is a great car and I agree it's the best 'classic look' BMW (I've got G31 520D for long trips). When it comes only to the engines, S63 has a history of overheating because of its construction with turbos inside the V (I know it was improved by thermal insulation). In terms of pure engineering S58 seems more advanced (though I couldn't find it in a good looking M 😅).
Let’s hope I can keep it cool. The engine fans work well after shutoff to keep things cool.
I'm sure you'll take care of it and it will bring you lots of joy from daily usage and long trips. Just don't exert it too much on tracks. ;)
For the boot kick, you have to swipe your foot across the middle. Left to right or vice versa it has to swipe

Hard to get younger
Hands free trunk access may be disabled if you got a factory installed carbon fiber rear diffuser. I have one on my 19 m5 comp and it was disabled at the factory. If you look at your spec sheet it will have a code that indicates it was disabled
That’s it!!! But for me it’s the pandemic special. Auto trunk not available in 2023
I too have a '21 marina bay blue M5C except I have the lighter aragon brown interior (I agree with the jeans transfer). My only issue I have with my car is that the car should have wider fenders (i.e. M3) to protect the fenders and quarter panel from rock chips. I had Xpel PPF installed on the entire front end of my car but not the side rocker panels. I had a M550 before the M5 which, didn't the problem due to smaller width tires. Last, I am hearing the new 2024 G90 will have wider fenders; however, I do not like the look of the car's front and the additional weight due to hybrid electric motors and batteries (F90 is heavy enough). Maybe the new look will grow on me and I will purchase one; for now, I am keeping my F90.

the trunk sensor gets blocked by the carbon fiber diffuser. it works sometimes, just not very reliable.
Mine is not carbon fiber. Should work well.
I have the exact same car/spec except it's PFL. To open the trunk: you swipe your right foot from the middle of the car to under the right muffler and it'll open... Congrats btw, epic cars these! Mines stage 2 which makes it even more bonkers. :D Drive it in 2WD DSC off mostly...@@TommyLGarage

It has just the regular competition exhaust but I’ll be upgrading it soon.

I have the Torque app on my phone. I also have an F10 M5. If I put my M5 into sport+ the engine temp is 180ish if I put in comfort or regular sport mode the engine temp is 220ish. Not sure if that carried over into the next generation. I keepmly car in sport+ all the time. Act accordingly.

I believe when it is in comfort/regular mode the top mount intercooler is not active…when you put it in Sport/Sport+ is when the intercooler engages, hence the cooler temps
@@bmdubyou M5's have liquid inter-coolers, not TMIC, I am not sure they play into the engine temps. I was shopping for a cooler thermostat when I came across a post on an M bulletin board where the poster claimed putting the car into Sport+ will open up the cooling system and cause it to run much cooler. I am not sure why they have them running so hot when not in sport+ I wonder if it is emissions related. I do know I have my M1 button on my steering wheel programmed to all the settings "I" want for around town driving. The M2 button is set for insanity!! LOL!! I have the M1 set for Sport+ on engine and steering with comfort set for suspension. I also programmed to the DCT to setting 1 of 3 which is the least intrusive / calmest setting. M2 has everything set to Sport+ and the DCT set to manual.
@@Jims5543 The TMIC in my F80 is liquid as well…I just know when I’m in Comfort the temps are higher like the OP stated…when I put it in Sport/Sport+ I can hear the TMIC engage & my temps start to go down.

one thing nobody ever mentions are the audio systems. I heard plenty 5 series owners saying the b&w is a waste of money and therefore the h/k must be the one to chose?
Honestly, I almost never listen to the radio. I enjoy the exhaust. And for the few times, when I actually do, the existing standard audio system is absolutely fine.
@@TommyLGarage well on the used car market some options are hard to find within cars and therefore knowing if it's worth the search would be a help. However the M5 after all still is a luxury car and most of the time I would assume people drive normally, listening to music for example because what else is there to do in traffic. At least that's me with my amg. Otherwise I'd be jailed
trunk boot had a shortage on chips at one time, maybe you were one of those they reimburst $50 for. check your sticker. mine had it and ive taken delivery on jan 2023

I see you didn't waste time installing the radar detector! Edit: @ 11:30! ..."I feel kind of vain,...kind of cool"! Buck'n ayyy you do! Of course you'd be cool in an M5,...and especially in an F90 M5.
Will do a diy on the detector since I used a very unique tapping method actually. And it comes in handy every day!
@TommyLGarage ...Cool, I'd like to see it. Although they (radar detectors) are illegal in VA ...they are good to have going South, West and North off VA.
The charging dock doesn't fit my iPhone 14 promax with a slim case, plus the wallet is slow sometimes.
