    • @@fast97z24 Look up "water injected headers" and you'll see the little pieces welded onto each pipe where you clamp on a hose. What it's supposed to do is continuously inject a very small amount of water, and the exhaust pressure turns it into a mist, constantly coating the inside of the headers to keep them cool. The only reason to do it is for chrome or painted headers, so they stay looking nicer for longer. Jackstand's problem is they are putting in too much water, which is draining into the cylinders causing worse performance, and as Cleetus noticed, slowly getting into the oil as well.

  • Hey James, you don't need to run water through the headers. The reason they run water through exhaust manifold on marine engines are for cooler engine bay when the engine are in a enclosed compartment and less smoke out the back. Without the water cooling the stock exhaust manifolds it would be hot as hell in a boats engine bay, your headers are air cooled and way up above the boat. If you think the headers are going to be to hot running at high rpm, well the NASCAR run on full throttle for hours and don't need any water cooling the headers.

    @SwedesGarage@SwedesGarage2 жыл бұрын
    • You're not allowed to run injected headers in a closed engine bay. When there's an engine cover, you're required to run jacketed exhaust.

    • just gonna start saying im not boat guy. im a car and off road guy. but i was wondering are we sure its just to cool the headers?? i dont see a radiator anywhere on that boat and i feel like its to also cool the motor as a whole. like with the few jet skis and boats ive worked on none had a sweet ass v8 powering them but the water always cooled the engine. but at the same time it kinda cooled the exhaust as well because thats where the now used hot water was dumped after it cycled through to cool the engine. pretty sure all that water is being cycled completely through the engine before being dumped into the headers cooling it all off as a whole. but like i said im a car guy i might be wrong feel free to tell me if i am.

      @JamesDean-yo8wm@JamesDean-yo8wm2 жыл бұрын
    • @@JamesDean-yo8wm the jet pump supplies the engine with cooling water then dumps it. The entire lake is the radiator. You have to put a valve on it to slow down the flow of water so it doesn't run too cool as speed. Injecting water into the headers is to keep them from getting too hot and potentially causing a fire. it also acts as a legal muffling device.

  • James you dont need to have the water! That's only in the exhaust exits through the boat but your hangs in the air over the edge so just leave the water off, that's why you're having issues with it because those headers arent suposed to have water in them they will flood the motor, water cooled headers have a hump an water sprays after the hump so it cant go Into the motor, please just unhook those water lines

    @-RyN-23@-RyN-232 жыл бұрын
    • You're describing water jacketed headers, not water injected headers. He should have a spring loaded check valve in there that shuts off the water flow at idle. And only misting them under load. They never need to be fully opened to work correctly.
