Mercedes and AMG never been good at making fast gearboxes. Never. Yes,V8 grunt they got. But sound doesn't win races. Fine engineering does.

Yes weight is usually going to be the deciding factor, basic physics. You can develop all types of technologies & gimmicks but unless there is significant difference in spec, dead weight will ultimately decide. The BMW also has more engine work done. Mercs are almost always heavier. 100kg additional weight is an average adult female & her 8 yr old child.

Stock engine, a lot more weight and less traction with regular tyres the merc didn’t do too badly at all! Would love to see this race re ran with r888r or similar tyres and stripped out seats on the c63, killa content
Merc had much better traction already. And I don’t think stripping the back seats out would change much in the roll race

STRIPPED BACK SEATS -200KG, much more job done to the engine, THIS WAS A NON LSD CAR, NOT LIKE THE C63S COUPE, more fuel consumption because the MORE agressive tune, stage 2 PLUS turbos.... Only put stage 2 PLUS turbos and meth on a C63S COUPE and you win this race. M4's onñy win when they have more money on them

That’s some high level bimmering. I thought the AMG’s propensity to make tremendous torque would pull mid race but BMW straight 6’s are real destroyers.

Love the small, quick breakdown on your thoughts on the race at the end. Sick race! Only thing I would add is the torque numbers to the stats, only if you have them of course.

As soon as you see the result of the drag race its pretty obvious what's going to happen in the roll
M3 for me every time, and that’s without taking into account it’s superior handling. Having also owned a C63, they are beasts but not the best choice for a true driver. If you think they look and sound better than I’d say that’s a fair opinion, I just couldn’t go back to AMG knowing that every time I see an M, you’d know they had the better performing car.
what bullshit... there is more then only the C63 & M3, i'd take an S63S over an M8, an E63S over an M5,... also for me they are daily drivers so i couldn't really care if an other model is a few seconds faster. where BMW really lets me down is that horrible interior that still looks the same as a car from 1990

@@Doa744 lol the s63s is a boat ⛵🤣.. we get it you prefer a merc but these are performance cars where performance is key, not interior cars otherwise save yourself some money an buy a diesel merc if you dont mind getting gapped, plus the same results happen with all bmw vs merc as per carwow videos the mercs are just a little bit slower from the factory and always have been.
@@Doa744 Of course there are more cars than those two, I was just stating my pick on the only two that featured in the video, then went on to give a general opinion on M vs AMG, having owned and driven many high performance cars. I already said that I’d understand if people preferred the look of the inferior performing car. E63S would need to compare against an M5 comp and I’d still choose the M5 because it’s just so much better, even as a daily driver. I don’t race round the streets as such and still really appreciate how much better M cars are to drive than AMGs as a daily. I also find Audis RS equivalents to be far worse than their M and AMG counterparts. In terms of interior quality, I expected AMG to be better too but was pleasantly surprised to find otherwise. AMGs look like they should be better but I find them more flimsy, especially on moving parts the paddle shifters. At the end of the day I’m glad there are people like you in the world to keep buying AMGs because it keeps M devision on their toes. If everybody switched to M and never went back then we wouldn’t get the best out of our preferred brands.

Bimmer had closer gear ratios, tire and stripped weight and both cars running same power, already knew the result that happened, the Mercedes only advantage was it has mad torque but the wider gear ratios it couldn’t catch a break but both cars are awesome.

m3 was much lighter same power with better tyres, i think everyone knew that the m3 would win this any day of the week but the merc did better than i thought

I'm a Merc fan and I'd take a C63 over M3 but before the race began I knew the M3 was gonna take the win.. You gotta admit that an M3 at that power level is just crazy fast.
He removed his rear seats too. Weight doesn’t account for that big of a gap. The mods the 3 has helps it makes more power top end 100%. Meth injection, m5 fuel pump/injectors. You know it’s not running out of fuel in higher rpm

@@henzo7087 before yu get all cocky, mine c63 already has 40 000 km with 850 hp and it will do at least a 100 000 more while this bmw is fast but in 20 000 km he will be usable only if you need an anchor. Fact is, yo choose the best BMW and compare it to the best marc in the same class and the merc beats is every time. Not to speak about categories of supercars where BMW hasn't even the know how to build such cars. Mercedes has the richest racing car history and the most successful of all times and all brands, while BMW did win the DTM three times but that was in times where they raced volvos and saabs. As son as alfa and Mercedes entered they didn't win anything anymore ever. Last and not least, take any bmy with any amount of kilometers and any model and take a merc the same category, production year and same kilometers, and the marc is worth 30% more always . For a fully built m3 I honestly thought he would take it by a mile. If the Amg had fully built engine it wouldn’t even be a comparison. The m3 is fast but man the AMG is just a whole new level of beast with that sound. Should run again with slicks on the amg and a stripped out interior and build the engine. Still great content

But still they produce the same power and are both on stage 3 tune. You could only blame it to the weight of the Merc but still that weight could be useful. So excuses all the way. The bimmer did well there it's weight doesn't favour its power if it was not for the tyres the BMW wouldn't grip at all and be all over the place.

I have a C63S and yeah it's the gear changes on the upshifts where you really feel it fall behind. It just doesn't get up through the gears as fluidly as you would like. I still love my car, and the way it sounds makes up for everything else, but going from 3 to 4 you do feel it struggle to keep pace.
I'm neutral as an Audi fan, but u gotta say that merc although it lost, can go straight from there on holiday with the family. Can't say the same for the M..
The M driver simply reinstalls the back seat and goes on vacation with the family

It's both impressive and disappointing how the engineering of modern German cars manages to take all the skill and excitement out of controlling all that power.
Stripped interior for M3 and slick tyres makes the M3 win. Without this it would be neck and neck.

I love youtube comments, people must have missed the part where the M3 is stripped out, running semi slicks and a fully forged engine lol. Man in the merc is full bolt on with road tyres. Imagine spending all that to forge the engine, run semi slicks and strip the car out to be 0.3secs faster 100-200. I'm dead lol.
I mean thats exactly how it works. If the c63 spent the same, it may not have lost. You cant overly look into the times, as it's over this specific distance. The gap would of increased had they carried on.
So basically you're saying if the merc was fully built with same 800bhp it would have made difference?? And even with stripped out sits and better tires it wouldn't made much a difference mercs are generally heavier than bmw.

I really doubt if they're both running 800hp. Seems more like 750hp vs 850hp. Either that or the m3 has got 200NM more torque. A measly 100kg will not make that much of a difference at these powers levels. Merc sounds way better though I really enjoyed this battle!

The built motor and the weight difference helped the BMW. If c63 had same setup would be a different race.
Built motor was built to handle the power. If the merc was built and still making 800 bhp, youd have the same results. About the weight, thats something mercs cant really do much about since they come factory heavy. Rear seat delete saves you maybe 10 LBS at most lol. Thats not even 5 kilos ive weighed these seats
@@evtpr3dat0rx62 the prob with the merc is the old 7 speed, the newer 9 speed is much better and they have to much Torque. Have to get bigger turbos to not push so much torque that the clutch keeps slipping, or of course a top clutch. The merc is hevay .because quality and comfourt have their price. My friend has a m3 csl, dear lord, ou cant have a normal conversation in that car. Squeaky like my tubby ducky

Father has a 1940 Chevy coupe delux with an original frame that was extended 3inches built by hendrix motor sports and few other big names. Dale Earnhardt drove it years back. Its 850hp and nitrous and runs on 102. The rear tires are 2ft wide and the blower on the motor sticks 2ft above the hood. Its a weapon. Be right up the top that leader board with that Chevy nova

The merc got of the line first each time so tyres wouldn't change much. Extra weight and a slower gearbox is why it lost. BMW gapped it
