New RS4 Comp v M3 v AMG C63: Estate DRAG RACE

We’ve got our hands on the all-new Audi RS4 Competition, and it’s going head-to-head against its key rivals - the BMW M3 Touring, and the Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate!
Okay, it might be the old C63 Estate, but while we don’t have the latest gen in the UK yet, this is the best we could do!
So let’s see how the three compare. Starting with the Audi, it’s powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo V7 that can produce 450hp and 600Nm of torque. This power output may be the same as the old car, but it comes with a retuned gearbox that should help it both shift quicker and improve its launch! Power is sent to all four wheels via the gearbox, and it weighs in at 1,745kg. It also rolls up with a price tag of around £85,000.
Alongside it we have the BMW. It’s packing a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six under the bonnet which is good for 510hp and 650Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,865kg. It’s a bit more pricey than the Audi, costing around £87,000.
Then finally we have the AMG. It’s housing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet that can produce 510hp and 700Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels only, and it weighs in at 1,800kg. When new it costs around £78,000, but given it’s the old gen, you can’t even buy one anymore!
So will it be a clean sweep for the more powerful BMW? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

    • I'll be honest. Merc can just plonk that old M177 into the new W206 chassis, called it a day, and it would still be able to give M3 Competition a bloody nose, AND kept AMG fans happy. But no, they just have to prove that the AMG ONE hybrid system can be used in a 'normal' car.

  • the m3 estate is an absolute BEAST but holy shit man that c63 v8 just cant be beaten here. Absolutely PHENOMENAL engine. Had a buddy that had a c63s sedan that i had the pleasure of driving quite alot and man that thing was MAD. The sound from that engine is what AMG should be about. Last great c63 we'll ever see.

    • there is no replacement for displacement. rolling race is where the 6liter amg engine starts to live. both the audi & the bmw have way more down torque and less top end. but the m3 is by far the most beautifull

  • I have an AMG C63 as my daily driver and its supremely refined and comfortable and is a very practical car. Now at 60k miles and been totally reliable. I have driven the Audi RS and just found it less comfortable. Great video, good to see the W205 still delivers.

    • That’s been the beauty of the RS4 for time. The new 6 is horrible because it tried way too hard in the styling department and looks like a Halfords special. As a C7 RS6 owner that has test driven several B9 RS4’s as well, these two models are bang on. The G8x M cars are utterly eye bleeding to behold, give me an E92 or W204 all day long. The W205 I like too but the successor’s engine will kill the brand for sure

  • Audi has previously made models with the Competition designation. The Audi A6 C7.5 and Audi A7 C7.5 were both made with a Competition designation, for their top spec 3.0 TDI variant :)

  • Audi did call their cars with "Competition". There was A6 C7 or 7,5 Competition with..... diesel Engine. It was 3.0 TDI with aprox 326 hp.
