- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancelled talks in Washington when the US decided not to veto a UN call for a cease-fire in Gaza. Are those talks now back on?

  • No word about the ships stuck *inside* the Port area. Ten other large size ships will be stuck in the Port until the bridge is cleared. 2 cargo ships and one vehicle carrier amongst them

  • "Divers have recovered the data recorder..."? Divers? The ship didn't sink. Was the data recorder tossed overboard?

    • Data recorders are mounted on top the bridge. They release and float if submerged in water. Is a small bouyee that will rip the wires by its positive buoyancy. I doubt 'Divers' had to retrieve it but rather 'Rescuers' which was mistranslated by the media.

  • The on site correspondent was impressive. "older infrastructure and modern" methods of commerce was an astute comment. Ships are bigger, trains are faster, same with aircraft. It's much more difficult and expensive to upgrade infrastructure to equal the pace of advance in equipment. Every study on status of US infrastructure comes to the same conclusion. US is not even close to spending what it needed to and this goes back for 50 years. Maybe Washington DC will come to understand that $880 billion dollars per year for our Department of War has been a gigantic mistake ... for the US and the world at large.

  • The economy of USA will not collapse suddenly. Instead, it will decline gradually, not in absolute terms but relative to the performance of the economies of the Global South countries, like the economy of UK has been declining gradually relative to the economies of the Global South countries since 1960. And the reason for this decline is as follows. For a little more than two centuries, the main source of income of USA has been the stealing of the wealth of the Global South countries. The stealing of the wealth of the Global South countries was also the main source of income of Britain, France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Italy. But, with the rise of the Global South countries in all fields, including the military, the economy and the technology, it has become increasingly difficult for USA and the other western countries to steal the Global South countries. This means that the main source of income of USA and the other western countries has dried up. As a result, the economies of USA and the other countries gradually decline like the standard of living of a gang of thieves and murderers would decline gradually if it can no longer steal other people.
