After the Cold war, the fear of nuclear annihilation seemed like a thing of the past. But hostilities between the superpowers are on the rise again - and so are the world’s nuclear stockpiles. Russia is throwing nuclear threats, the United States is flashing its nuclear saber and China is rapidly expanding its arsenal. It's time to wake up.

    • One thing is certain - our Almighty Creator will not allow humans to destroy our beautiful planet and all life on it. He has a purpose for us and no one can prevent him fulfilling that purpose. (Isaiah 45:18) Very shortly he’s going to make drastic changes here on earth by removing all human governments along with everyone who causes pain and suffering for others. (Daniel 2:44; Proverbs 2:21, 22) His heavenly Kingdom government is currently poised to take over the rulership of the entire earth and bring true peace and security and untold blessings to mankind. (Luke 4:43; Matthew 6:10; Micah 4:3, 4) As the King of the Kingdom, Jesus will lovingly care for each and every one of his subjects. No one will be in want of anything. (Isaiah 65:21, 22) Psalm 37:10, 11 says: “Just a little while longer and the wicked will be no more; you will look at where they were, and they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace”.

    • Yes, very sad times indeed, but there is some good news that most people are unaware of. Our Creator is very shortly going to step in and solve all our problems for us. He alone has the desire and the power to do so. His righteous and just heavenly Kingdom government, about which Jesus preached when he was on earth, will very soon completely remove all human governments along with everyone causing harm to others. (Luke 4:43; Matthew 6:10; Daniel 2:44; Proverbs 2:21, 22) As the King of the Kingdom, Jesus will bring true peace and security to all earth’s inhabitants. (Micah 4:3, 4) He will undo all the damage that’s been done, and he will lovingly care for each of his citizens. (Isaiah 65:21, 22) The whole earth will be filled with joy and laughter. Tears of sorrow will be turned into tears of joy. (Revelation 21:4) These wonderful changes are imminent!

    • Indeed! When they already have the ability to destroy our planet multiple times over, it is absolute insanity to keep spending billions each year producing even more nukes. When you add to this all the other major problems threatening mankind it is very clear that world leaders are a complete and utter failure. That’s why very shortly all human governments are going to be removed by our Creator’s government, the Kingdom of God, which will then take over the rulership of the entire earth. (Luke 4:43; Matthew 6:10; Daniel 2:44) Together with true peace and security, it will bring wonderful blessings to all mankind. (Micah 4:3, 4) As the King of the Kingdom, Jesus will lovingly provide for all the needs of each one of his citizens. (Isaiah 65:21, 22) Tears of sorrow will be replaced by tears of joy. Revelation 21:4 says: “And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more. Neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away”.

See, if one country builds a ton of ABMs they could theoretically nuke the other country with impunity, so this threat incentivizes their adversary develop offensive countermeasures so their ICBMs can remain an effective deterrent, spiralling into a big expensive arms race of offensive vs. defensive weapons. The only winning move is not to play.

      @rexpectmusic468@rexpectmusic46812 күн бұрын
    • It is much harder to intercept a nuke, mainly due to the fact that it deploys warheads once it’s close to the target which is like multiple miniature missiles that scatter, and some of those warheads are decoys meant to counter interception

      @PainToTheWorld1272@PainToTheWorld127211 күн бұрын
    • Some nukes can be intercepted, yes. Hence why the US and Russia have such large arsenals. If each nuke would connect, you wouldn't need 5000 of them. The US probably has much better intercepting capabilities than Russia, but if 1/5 goes through, that's still thousands of warheads.

(Luke 4:43; Matthew 6:10; Daniel 2:44) Everyone will live in true peace and security and in harmony with each other, our beautiful planet, and all life on it. (Micah 4:3, 4; Isaiah 11:6-9) As the King of the Kingdom, Jesus will lovingly provide for each and every one of his subjects. (Isaiah 65:21, 22) Never again will we live in fear of anyone or anything. (Revelation 21:4) These wonderful changes are imminent!

(Luke 4:43; Matthew 6:10; Daniel 2:44) Also everyone who causes harm to others will be removed. (Proverbs 2:21, 22) The Kingdom will bring true peace and security and many blessings to earth’s inhabitants. (Micah 4:3, 4; Isa 65:21, 22) Jesus will lovingly care for all the needs of each and every person. Tears of sorrow will be changed into tears of joy. A wonderful future is very near!

  • Does anyone know how many nuclear weapons would be needed to cause a global nuclear winter?

    @happyhippo5488@happyhippo548816 күн бұрын
    • I don't think anybody knows for sure. It's going to depend also on how many are surface vs air bursts, local soil / ground characteristics, weather patterns etc.

      @VVayVVard@VVayVVard16 күн бұрын
    • It could vary widely, depending on how many were used, how large the weapons are that would be used in terms of explosive yield, and perhaps most importantly how they were fused. If they were set to detonate with an airburst, hundreds or thousands of feet above the target, like what happened with the two bombs used over Japan in WW2, it maximizes the area destroyed but the radioactive fallout is minimized. If they were set for a ground burst, such as a surprise attack on another country in order to destroy their nuclear missiles in their underground silos before they can be fired in retaliation, they would explode after hitting the ground, churning up tons and tons of dirt that becomes highly irradiated and thrown high up into the atmosphere where it can remain for weeks or months before raining down around the globe as fallout. That's what could at least partially block out the sun, preventing crops and plants from growing.

  • The Nuclear Arms Race restarted in 2001. When the U.S. announced they were "re-furbishing" their nuclear arsenal, Russia warned that: (1) it wasn't in the spirit of NPT i.e. arms reduction, not refurbishing or upgrading, and (2) such a move by the U.S. would force Russia to do likewise. The United States ignored these warnings and proceeded anyway.
