    • Most riders do that these days. What's your point? They know they have done enough, so they are excited. Good for them. The classics are brutal.

(back in 2007,wow I had no idea he doped too), Vinokkourov, Petacchi, Zakarin, Frank Schleck, Visconti. Valverde is in the geretaion that had to dope to be competitive, because anti-doping only namely existed. Actually it was an even field because everyone doped. If someone has access to something others have too, and they will use it. It's similar nowdays, but it's not even doping, since ketones are legal.

  • Wish I could’ve enjoyed this commentary of the race. Here in the U.S. we were subjected to the inane and supremely annoying sophomoric commentary of former U.S. cycling pro Chris Horner. The man’s repeated use of “5-star” this and “1-star” that was maddening. He clearly thought it was some sort of clever addition to his personal brand, but it was purely, well, “0-star” at best.

    • Carlton doesn't sound at all like himself here, as if he's reading a script in which he has zero interest. Very strange During the race itself he was just the opposite -- highly excited, excitable, and hyperactive. Many people find his usual commentary style quite over the top and can't abide his terrible puns, lame jokes, and endless "memory lane" stories about that obscure bistro where he once enjoyed dinner during the 2004 Tour de France. I generally find him entertaining (in a goofy sort of way) in small doses, if he's paired with a more grounded co-commentator, but I can see why many people don't care for him.
