James, nice interview. I did find you asking a question of Nedum, and then jumping in with your own answer, before allowing Nedum to speak, a little bit frustrating however! Good luck with the show.
This is only the second podcast that ive listened to in my life and i really enjoyed it. It was a fascinating listen with great questions and Nedum spoke so openly with great detail about the mindset of a player. Really great work, will listen to some more if your work for sure.
Why do we not see Nedum more in the media?! Sooo much better than 90% of ex pros that are on the mainstream media channels.
Hate to sound patronising but it really is refreshing to listen to an intelligent articulate footballer who knows what he's talking about.
Nedum Onuoha is one of the best speakers in the game, great pod!
He's very good.
He’s the antithesis of big Meeks and I mean it as a compliment
Totally agree - he should be getting more mainstream punditry roles. Class analysis.
@@SamStrange-fy1wm Can you expand on that? I'm intrigued.
Hes brilliant
Here is some insight in to Nedum Onuoha: Nedum actually studied at a Grammar School (The same one i attended). He not only is atheltically gifted (obviously) but he was very book smart aswell. I doubt many other footballs had such a traditional education as Nedum did. Congratulations Nedum on your awesome career. You lived the dream. Big respect.
Saka is highly educated too. Very positive role models, not that the British media will want you to know for the very obvious reason. Foden and Grealish on the other hand 🤦🏽
Manager he was talking about was Chris Ramsey for anyone wondering.

Why isn't nedum on TV more? One of the most eloquent, insightful ex footballers I've heard.
Instead, the English defender from his generation we have on punditry is the man who spends his days searching for clipable moments and hyperbole, the man who cheated on his dying wife, Rio Ferdinand.
I think it is because he is too honest and therefore the narrative isnt controlable when he is involved, it's the reason I prefer KZhead punditry over sky.
hes on ESPN
@@meowwww9275 Hes on ESPN, not just youtube
Espn +
Something about Jim looking Nedum dead in the eye and saying “WE” while talking about QPR’s struggles is so funny to me
Nedum was at qpr for a while!
@@samueloughton8890exactly…James says “we” as a fan but the struggle would have been completely different.
How is this guy not on TV as a pundit? Great voice, great insight.
He does stuff for ESPN.
He’s on guardians football weekly too. He’s one of my favorite pundit
Dont watch much football do you?😂😂😂 He IS a television pundit.
hes on espn fc about once a week and is their on field reporter for the fa cup and league cup. hes on tv a lot in the us
fuck, nedum is fantastic. so unbragadocious and chill when it comes to his own career and experiences. seems a proper insightful football fan too
unbragadocious? what
Practicing my bot impression: I'm continually amazed by the depth of insights demonstrated by members of this community. He has a lovely voice 🐧
It's pretty good, but you need to change your pfp
You forgot to say thanks!
Tru Say,Mi Bredda.Preach those words,mi Bredrin..
Works better with a nice juicy peach to look at🍑
Nedum is such a good talker, loved seeing him on as a pundit and in this pod!
Sean dyche is an unbelievable manager. This snobbery around style of play is actually so boring. Name another manager who could take Burnley up, and then keep them there on such a small budget (also qualified for Europe btw) people pipe off kompany after spending a fortune just to get relegated 😂 because there’s this narrative he plays “good football” aka his centre half’s touch the ball a lot
Facts
When Everton was flying right before and after the first deduction, Dyche actually was experimenting with different ways of playing. Yes, most of it was still very vertical and direct, but it was a lot more on the deck and focused on attacking through central areas. Creating chances all over the shop As they fell into a relegation battle towards the business end of the season, he experimented less and less; he reverted more to the typical idea people have of Dyche-ball. Without the deductions, I imagine he would have continued to try different things
@@jamesbaurus5928 that’s what a proper manager does tho, look for ways to evolve a side but okay within the team he has. We see managers come into struggling sides and just copy and paste “pass out from the back, overload midfield, keep it on the floor” when they clearly don’t have players to do that or the quality to do it against better teams and end up going down. Dyche has good centre half’s, physicality in the middle and up top so it suits him to be direct now if they want to stay up. I think he is clever enough to evolve them and start pushing for Europe in time with a bit of money behind him.
How harsh must it have been for Burnley to have Sean Dyche and Everton beat them both premiereship matches and FA cup!
Always say this, I'm really intrigued to see what he'd do if he ever manages a team with decent money
Nedum is such a refreshing voice, hopefully hear a lot more from him in the coming years
Nedum is such a great listen, he makes every espn show he's on so much better/insightful.
James, let the man talk, you are forever cutting him off.
This is a guy who knows the game inside out. Such an easy person to listen to. Great episode
So refreshing to hear a footballer who is honest intelligent.
I love nedum’s voice cadence
I thought I was the only one who thought that. He'd be great for narrating audiobooks.
And he knows his shit
As an Everton fan, I don’t see us going down, but if we do… no chance in hell do we come straight back up. Financially a mess, too many players will go (Pickford included), and would probably end up changing from Dyche.
I think you're right, the team will be gutted and the off-field pandemonium won't resolve itself over an off season. That being said, Everton have a pedigree and they would be attractive to a benefactor.
I don't get the conversation about you going down at this point. You're so far ahead of Luton at this point and if you win against Luton, it's basically over for them. Just sensationalist nonsense
Nedum is very insightful but also very calming. He should do audiobooks lol
Well, the Everton conversation has been rendered moot.
Great talker and conversation.
Good example, in my opinion, of Nedum's point that a football player's mistake/decision/performance etc can never be forgotten from this past weekend is Harvey Elliott. A kid who came through their academy and makes his debut as the youngest ever PL player who leaves to join Liverpool, the team he supports, gets booed every time we go to Craven Cottage. Not once has he said anything negative about Fulham, the closest thing he said to negative about Fulham is that he could never, as a Liverpool fan, say no to the opportunity of playing for Liverpool.
Similarly, every time Man City & now Chelsea come to Anfield, Raheem Sterling gets booed and "only one greedy bastard" gets pelted at him because his agent said he wouldn't stay for any price.
Love this James, more please !
Nedum Onuoha is fantastic, such a well spoken man. Get him on MOTD more.
What a guest. Very insightful
I love it when i see (hear) Nedum on podcasts. Properly level, insightful opinion of someone who's actually been there. Also, top tier sexy voice
So shallow!
@@dondamon4669 how is this comment shallow? Literally complemented his intelligence
If you look at Luton and how much money they spent...and how much the likes of Everton and Forrest spent...i mean if they stay in EPL they are an incredible story(which they already are) that could inspire more teams to do this
Some of the stories from Nedum's time at QPR man I could listen to them all day, great guest
Yes! Great talker
Nedum is my favorite pundit on ESPN FC, he sounds like the only one that watches the entire matches (sometimes Ale too)
How on earth Chris Ramsey became a manager is simply baffling.
Forest xGA indicates that basically horrific goalkeeping is largely responsible for them struggling so bad. That and blatantly corrupt Luton VAR refs. I kid... but also hope Atwell gets a vicious case of athletes foot that lasts for 91 weeks.
And the fact they broke the rules
Havent Forest bought 4 keepers in the last year? If you have to buy that many it would suggest that at least 3 of them have been terrible so despite not watching many of their matches your stat about the xGA probably seems about right because of that
@@mauddib1761I’m not saying it is the case in this instance, but usually it suggests a falling out or injury
Luton's wage budget is almost a third of Everton's and Forest's. Forest spent over £100 million when they got to the Prem, Luton spent £22 million. Fact is that if you're spending a fraction of what your rivals spend, of course its going to be difficult to compete. So slating them for having a bad XG against without putting those stats in a wider perspective is pretty harsh imo.
It's not taken out of context because Burnley and Soton give up quite a bit less chances despite having somewhat closer to Lutins budget. The obsession with Lutin comes from A) a good story and B) Vibes/eye test. It's not harsh, it's reality. They are really really bad defensively while trying to defend resolutely Also comparative to spending, Everton's defense is quite good. 4th in the league despite. Being 11th or 12th in wages. But Luton absolutely did things the right way so that if they go down, they go down in better shape than when they went up
How they have someone daft like Micah (although a nice bloke) but he’s clueless and just reiterates what other pundits say.. when you could have Nedum! Nedum’s better than the lot
Will never forget his goal for sunderland against chelsea at Stamford bridge what a goal seems a very intelligent bloke should be on tv more
Great vid
Do a video on Everton battering Liverpool UTFT
Last memories before liquidation
@SaudiGod Need a tissue? Lost the league at Goodison Park 🎶 (doubt you know where Goodison is though being a Liverpool fan, you’ve probably never stepped foot in Liverpool)
Could listen to Nedum Onuoha all day
Not many people have a clue what they’re talking about when it comes to Everton. Great to see Onuoha actually watches the games before commenting. Quality stuff
Fickle fans, expect the world, going to go bankrupt Everton fc
Nedum is brilliant on the Sam Lee City podcast, glad to see more of him!
Luton have the highest entertainment value in this year's EPL. Tiny squad with lots injuries, no wonder we've conceded a few goals! :)
lose tonight vs Everton and you are down
What a top guy presents himself very well top pod
The manager re Eastenders is Chris Ramsey he was the manager during the 6 - 0 defeat to Man City in May 2015
One of the worst managers ever.
Love Nedum 💙
Nedum is the best. We still love you and remember you here at RSL. ❤❤❤
Nedum is fantastic. Very articulate, Very insightful and truly one of the best ex professionals I've heard speak on the game.
Can Nedum be on every pod please
Nedum has such a nice voice. I would love to see him on tv
great pfp choice
Top of the Championship teams tend to play aesthetically-pleasing attacking football, much like top of the Premier League teams. This is why teams completely change everything and try to hang onto as many players as possible.
Nedums better than any pundits they have on Sky
This plank love to hear his own voice rather than waiting for nedum to finish the sentence
James if you strip away the name. Everton are clearly the best team. They were on 38 points before the win at Liverpool. Why are you so fixated on Everton not "actually having" a good squad is bizare to me.
Nedum should be on mainstream football media more often. Not only well spoken, but he beings a calm demeanour woth very inciteful views. I dont mind the likes of micah richards or roy keane but their analysis is quite limited and the same.
James obviously aint an undr the cosh patreon
Good news is that Everton are safe 🔵
Really like Nedum, super guy 🎉😎🙏🏾
Chris wilder could never
So truthfully, I was interested in the subject matter, when I saw it was this guy being interviewed about it I was like ‘Oh yeah sort of remember him, might not be into this but I’ll give it five minutes’ He’s incredible, interesting, insightful. I like that he’s not trying to be a KZhead sensation like the current crop of pundits. I’m now looking for other stuff he’s been in. That is talent right there.
Think the manager is Chris Ramsey 6 nil loss playing at etihad Nedum at QPR but not playing in the game Yikes!
Absolute qpr legend ned 💪💪
Man City legend in his eyes 👀
Can someone explain to me why he is talking about Everton like they are for sure going down. They are 4 points clear right now and have been better all year than the bottom three. American here
Hypothetical
A lot of managers are absolute shysters. The balance between what they get paid and the actual work they put in is an insult. The players provide the entertainment. The managers, aside from a handful, are allowed to get away with murder.
Well said.👍
Aged like a fine wine 😂😂
Everton won’t go down ever! I highly doubt it will ever happen
This is all well and good, but are we just going to ignore the massive picture of Pochettino on the wall?
What manager was he talking about watching east Enders?
6-0 loss at the Etihad had to be Chris Ramsey
I’ve gone back and it City have only ever won 6-0 a few times, at the Etihad slims it down ever more, but assuming as he said a team in relegation battle it must be MC 6-0 QPR May 2015, Chris Ramsey might be your answer.
The weird media love in for Luton has disguised just how bad they've been. 25 points from 35 games is absolutely pathetic, they would be down already if Forest and Everton didn't have points deducted.
Any chance of one of your tactics analysis videos on Arne Slot's Feyenoord? 🙂
Great convo James but we need timestamps!
Burnley went down, and came right back up....and it looks like they are going straight back down! The new west brom or norwich?
We love Nedum
James is really overvaluing Luton "caused they look good". Same thing as a lot of English fans. Obsession over vibes and eye test
He's never kicked a ball so doesn't really understand football properly. You can't unless played at a decent level
Manager is Chris Ramsay.
Nedum the GOAT
Pickford staying if Everton went down is delusional. He’ll be sold to balance the books along with the other players at the club who have monetary value.
Theres so much of this in football. Just say who the manager is. If its true you have literally nothing to worry about.
Manners? Basic etiquette? It's quite refreshing seeing someone with a modicum of morale fibre. What would be the benefits of publicly shaming someone?
Great on the mic Nedum you should replace Micah
I can't watch when Micahs on. Annoying af.
Micah is only great when hes with Carra, Titi, and Kate
Sounds like me on Football Manager tbh
Hahahaha man thought Everton where going down 😂😂😂😂😂😂 show me them tears
Your getting liquidated though
@@SaudiGod*you're
If if if that’s all I hear
Why are we talking about Everton being relegated? Was this filmed a while back or something? They've been sound for weeks. Nedum Onuoha is a brilliant speaker though!
But Everton aren’t going down, they’re 10 points clear of the drop
This video was 5 days before your comment....
Why have Manchester City not been charged or other teams? To be frank i think that there is to many back handers since business men have taken over the sport fans are being short changed and this happens in every sport golf tennis to name but two. That is worth ferreting at more than what you are talking about or are you the same?
Anyone reckon they know which manager Nedum is referring to?
chris ramsay in 2015 for QPR
So players can't not go on social media?? What rubbish!!
Absolute nonsense, relegated teams get far more money than established championship teams.
Listened to 1.10. Asked some seriously stupid questions and turned it off.
Chris "sacked me because I'm black" Ramesy 😂😂😂
Hahaha watching East Enders on the iPad hahahaha
Are Burnley really gone? 2 points off Forest and the most in-form team out of the bottom 4/5 teams...
4 teams, Brentford and Everton are safe. This video was also published 5 days before you posted
Luton just give games their all. They score a tonne and win or they get scored on a tonne and lose, i respect them so much. Really hoping luton stays up.
If you watched them at the weekend you'd change your mind. Looked like they couldn't be bothered
It’s an irrelevant conversation, Everton will not be going down!
Guess Nedum doesn’t like Chris Ramsey then…
Well Everton aren’t going down mate
JAMES WE NEED LIVERPOOL UNDER ARNE SLOT PLEASE ASAPPPP WILL YOU???
ofc he will
well everton are staying up lol
James please do a video on how Liverpool could look under Arne Slot
Who’s this manager someone please let me know 😂
Chris Ramsey most likely
Well this opening discussion aged horribly
Chris Ramsey
