TRIP REPORT | Qatar's Excellence on 16h Flight | Doha to San Francisco | QATAR AIRWAYS A350

Qatar Airways Trip Report flying from Doha to San Francisco onboard one of the Qatar Airways Airbus A350-1000 on a lovely morning in Doha as well as the half of the World we flew in this 16h flight.
A comfortable 16-hour flight from Doha to San Francisco onboard the Qatar Airways Airbus A350-1000, the biggest of the A350 family. 16 hours flying, clearly in the ultra-long-haul region, that passed faster than I was expecting. The flight was almost full, so we didn't get any empty middle seats, which would have increased a lot the comfort.
After a nice tour of Doha-Hamad International Airport, we boarded the A350 that would take us to San Francisco. Everything went on time and smoothly. No rush for boarding and with clearly enough staff at the airport to manage this in a nice calm manner.
We took from Doha heading to the north. After some amazing views of Doha, we set course towards Iran. We crossed the country until we reached the Caspian Sea. From there we flew northbound across Kazakhstan and entered Russia. We flew in parallel to the Urals until reaching the Arctic Ocean.
From there we flew basically in direct course to San Francisco, overflying the North Pole and entering Canada over the Yukon Territory. We left the Mackenzie Mountains on our right and flew towards British Columbia. We flew next to Vancouver, Portland, and, finally, San Francisco, where we landed around 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled, almost 16 hours after takeoff.
About the onboard service, we all know well about Qatar Airways' very high standards. In this flight, it was just perfect. The flavors were just incredible in every single bite of the lunch. Qatar Airways Quisine is clearly above the majority of restaurants you might find in your city. Just amazing. Perfect.

  • WOW😮 Love the North Pole route & info about it. 5 Stars to the cabin crew for their continuous service & to the food also. Your food tray was in constant use. Like Singapore airport for the green plants & nearby waterfall but love Doha for the giant golden bear. Great video 😊👍🏻🙋🏼‍♀️🇺🇸✈️

  • I’ve done DXB-LAX Polar route multiple times. It’s LESS brutal with A380 than any other plane like 777,350 etc. A380 is such an amazing plane. You can survive in economy without problem. Also, there are people who commonly travel from and to the US and may be that’s why they didn’t care to look out.

  • Australians find this talk about ULH cute. For most, a flight like this is one of two legs. 10 hours to Hawaii is medium, and my last flight from the USA was 15.5h BOS-HKG followed immediately by 9h HKG-SYD. QR does look excellent, especially the catering and entertainment options.

  • Qué gran vídeo!! (en todos los sentidos jajaja) madre mía...15 horas y pico, y me parecían a mí mucho las 11 horas que hice hace poco hasta CDMX... Yo en los vuelos soy como tú, no voy grabando (evidentemente), pero me paso todo el vuelo pegado a la ventanilla mirando el paisaje porque soy incapaz de dormir. Si, han habidomuchos incendios en California, (as usual) Que viaje tan divino! Todas las vistas han sido amazing, Zagros was incredible. Esas montañas deben ser super altas para aparecer tan cerca cuando volaban a 36 mil pies de altura. El avion y la comida fue increible. Otro vuelo WOW! Muchas gracias, amigo.

    • La verdad es que fue un vuelo bastante completo. El aeropuerto de Doha es impresionante. No tiene tantas fuentes y árboles como el de Singapur... pero tiene su propio estilo. La verdad es que me encanta. Me alegra que te haya gustado tanto el vídeo! :)

  • Crossing the Geographic NP is one thing. I’ve done that but I also landed there. While on the ice I skied around the world! Only person to lay that claim to fame. No videos and no soundtrack. A couple of snapshots, great memories, and a logbook entry is all.

  • This flight would be hell on the Qatar 777. The A350 seats are more comfortable and slightly wider. It looks so boring flying over nothing but ice for 3-4 hours! It's also funny you include the terminals before and after...seeing SFO arrivals after being in the Doha airport makes the US look like the developing country haha

    • haha Well, to be honest, almost any airport in the world compared to Doha, Singapore, new Abu Dhabi, Istanbul... look really bad haha The San Francisco International airport is quite nice I must say, especially compared to others in the US ;P I like a lot as well the LAX TBIT :)
