This is a horror short film about the Guest.
I recommend watching this short horror film in the dark, with the volume turned up and on the biggest screen you can find. Thats how horror films are meant to be viewed. Sweet dreams. x

    • It does, it's a very good skill you don't see often in the horror industry, not to say it's terrible to not have it. I'd like to recommend you a certain horror game called Darkwood if you like a good scare without any jumpscares, it's an amazing experience.

    • Sadly, it’s a very, very rare occurrence. Horror is extremely easy to make compared to other genres (don’t need a good story, don’t necessarily need good actors, just put some loud noises in there and maybe some blood and call it a day), so that’s why there’s not much talent in the horror industry, well at least that’s my opinion. These are the kind of minds needed in filmmaking, and sadly they’re very often overlooked. That’s why when I see something like this, I make sure I help the creator in some way, even if it’s just by liking the video or watching more of their videos.

    • A few years ago, I used to have a recurrent nightmare in which I was in some sort of office in a high rise. There was this woman in white working outfit at her desk and she was alone, no one else was around. I was in there too close to her but she couldn’t see me. And suddenly I felt the inexplicable urge to scare her so I’d creep close to her ears and started moaning, and I’d see her face distort with terror all while she began to scream, and the more she screamed, the louder I moaned. Somehow, I was the ghost and yet I was as terrified as her. I always woke up at that moment with chills in my spine...I never could make sense of that dream. I haven’t had it for years now. This film kind of reminds me of this because in the scene you’re describing it feels like we’re looking through the creature’s eyes and your comment reminded me of this similar scenario of my dream.

  • I honestly interpreted this as a woman with schizophrenia and she tried to escape the hallucinations by harming herself. However, the hallucinations are STILL there. In my opinion, that's why she kept seeing the creepy figure and why she was hearing the breathing. Thus, THAT'S why she burned her eyes, stabbed her ears, and even smacked herself upside the head multiple times. She wants the visual and auditory hallucinations to stop; and unfortunately, it's not uncommon for people with schizophrenia to go through moments like this. She tried running away, she tried closing her eyes repeatedly, she tried to harm herself ... but you ultimately can't escape your own mind. Your brain can have unwanted "guests" - i.e. mental disorders.

  • I have a theory: A bit interesting, at the start it says "If you have suicidal thoughts, tell someone." Everyone in the comments is saying how the story is about the girl having schizophrenia, but the creator of this video has responded to those comments and stated that they're "almost right". I on the otherhand, believe this is a story about suicide. The weird guest thing must be her fears or something shes running away from. Its clear that the guest isnt real as no other humans are able to see it. The guest must represent something the main character hates. Its so ugly that she takes out her eyes and ears. She refuses to see it, but in the end, she has to face it and come to terms with it.

Your ability to create such beauty with minimal interaction between humans, when there is sound used in the movie it has a great purpose and is used amazingly. Thank you for creating this movie and i wish you a good future on your movie making journey.

  • So 'The Guest' is the embodiment of trauma? Uninvited, haunting, stays. She can try and expose the guest to other people, but no one can see what she sees, because it's hers. How it stares represents the actual event(s) that caused the trauma, while the benign manneurism shows that it's not there to attack or hurt. For some, living with trauma can drive them to insanity or suicide. For others, they learn to co-exist with it or ignore it altogether. Awesome.

  • My theory about this film it's that the guest basically looks away at the end because the reason no one can see him/her it's because "the guest" it's Maria. Do you understand what i mean? Basically i'm saying that the film is a representation of her fears. As you know, the guest doesn't have ears and it doesn't seem like he has real eyes. So... when the woman faces him, she is finally accepting that she is blind and deaf. In other words, the guest was a representation of her own insecurities.

  • It’s the anxiety from a trauma perhaps the seeing someone that isn’t there is just an aspect and you feel out of control and anxious like something is chasing you and it pushes you to the point when the only escape is hurting yourself because everyone is talking about how it never hurt her but what about her she never hurt it like she knew it wasn’t there like it was irrational that’s the thing about it you feel like your being harmed even though nothing is currently harming you and you know it’s irrational but that doesn’t take away from what your feeling and so you punish urself instead because you can’t harm a feeling but it’s still gunu be there in the end idk:^

  • it's so sad that nobody in the comments is understanding the point of this video and about the end of the video, but i feel like the only reason why hes there is because he is motivating her to not be afraid of him because of the way he looks. through the video you can see her running away from the guest and torturing herself to not look at him because of his features. and at the end of the video you can see she undid the wraps that she had on her head to move away from her eyes to see and she saw the guest and still got scared and they both look at eachother for 5 sec then he looked down disappointed, that shows how life is cruel and that people fear those things and its unlucky for the people that have it and want to unalive thereselves its sad:(

  • That "guest" seems to be someone like her, suffering the same thing but has managed to get totally disfigured. And he is standing by her with 100% sympathy and..devotion too.

  • Ok i am pharagraph guy: the lore is that The guest is actually her future because she poured bleach into her eyes the guest has enlarged irratated eyeballs Then she stabbed her ears if you look closely the guests ears are deformed implying that the guest is her Dont forget the captions because the guest seemed sad when she did that to herself the guest was sad because she has seen her past self go through all that all over again
