SOME NICE WORDS FROM FORMER FIGHTERS AT ERROLS FUNERAL

Пікірлер
  • Used to live down the road from Errol and his family as a kid. He used to pay me and a few friends silly money to clean his car so we could get sweets from local newsagents. Such a generous and friendly guy. The whole Christie family were always kind and helpful. Credit to coventry and our cov ways. Bless you Errol from the little white kid in the corduroy flares :)

  • when people say his was the best that Britain produced as a boxer I agree with that, what a talent, what a nice man outside of the ring as well. Will miss this man.

  • A brilliant amateur. One or two in the media criticised him for turning pro in 1982 instead if waiting two years for the Olympics, which he'd have almost certainly won. On reflection that might have been the better choice. Fought too aggressively as a pro I thought; possibly should have gone with Lawless than McCarthy. Put in against a heavy - handed Belgian or something that outweighed him by 20 pounds and stopped in one, that was the beginning of the end. Kept winning a few, then losing the big ones. Never got a world title fight. At least as talented as Herol Graham, with a better punch. Had he fought more with his brain and less with his heart, I think he'd have won at least one world title.

  • As usual the boxing community turning out in big numbers for one of there own. He broke so many records as an amateur errol, but just fell short as a pro. Duke McKenzie looked like he could still fight now,and surely there should be a book written about the 3 weight world champ and his fighting brothers...long over due
