Installing a screen protector used to feel like brain surgery before I watched this video. Your instructions were perfect. There was a scary moment though when I noticed in the corner of my eye my cat was staring at me the whole time waiting to pounce on the screen and get her fur in there just before I pressed the screen protector. But, she behaved.

Very helpful video. Some suggestions: - As you lower the protector, push 3 spread fingers from your spare hand against its hinged edge. This prevents the edge of the protector from raising slightly and shifting. With this technique, there is no need to use a stickier tape. The provided sticky tabs work well if you do this. - When making minor adjustments, the provided sticky tabs are easier to adjust than very sticky tape. - Before removing the protective film, practise the folding technique repeatedly, until you are certain that you are doing it correctly.

I didn't get me screen protector on perfectly (a few small bubbles) but I can live with those. You can only see them if the screen is completely black. After taking my phone to a shop for years when it was time to refresh the glass, I decided last night to remove the tempered glass on my own and install a new one. I watched several videos, but I was still hesitant to give it a go. Until you saw your video suggesting to hinge the screen on one side with tape. I am so pleased with the result. It's absolute perfection, far better than the shop installation that was always acceptable but had a little bubble here and there. Thank you so much!
How much if you don't mind me asking? I think I've been in the wrong business of fixing game consoles, I should be offering this as well

And if I had an expensive phone and the cover was also somewhat pricey, I would have probably taken it in too. I wouldn't feel right charging 30 charging bucks for this. Who ever charged you that here needs to step in fresh cat poo. 10 bucks you is like 12 bucks me so thats way more in the ball park of paying for a service like thart
Thanks for your walkthrough, dear sir. Installing glass is always terrifying (what if a speck of dust remains under the glass forever, what if it is 1 mm off, what if, ...), so your video made it much easier for me.
It's much easier to install glass than plastic screen protectors. Much easier to avoid bubbles.
that speck of dust will annoy you especially if it is somewhere in the middle. the glass i just installed had a speck of dust but thankfully it is somewhere along the edge. so i can live with it.
Turn on shower for 5-10 mins to steam the room and reduce airborne dust particles
First, thank you SO MUCH for not trying to be "cutesy" or long-winded with the intro...no one likes that, and you got straight to the point. Second, you are extremely well-spoken, concise and meaningful; what you said and pointed out made absolute sense and was very easy to follow. Whatever you do or your career aspirations are, you make a great speaker, trainer and presenter. Well done here. One slight hack: rather than making multiple "hinges" with the tape, apply it LENGTH-wise (not width wise in several places) and you'll get a much better/solid "hinge" as well as a better gauge on whether or not you've aligned it well (the tape will becomes your guide).
How about using 1.88" FROG TAPE for the hinge? One piece length-wise? I just bought a roll for other reasons, is it sticky enough? I think so ...
Tip: make sure your phone is powered off when you do this so no one calls you or texts you potentially messing up the process

As an ex teacher from industry who has taught Physics and CDT to kids and novice teachers it is an absolute delight to find a KZheadr who actually knows how to present properly, very clear, nice touch with the tape, warm enthusiastic voice and considering in the past with two older mobiles made a right mess of things, now feel very confident of doing it properly. Will certainly now look to see what else you have on here.

I have just put mine on by following the process. In a few seconds it sticks automatically perfectly without any bubble. One more tip - I folded a bit of the edge of the tape so that it's easier to remove from the protector.
Very helpful to encourage people to do it by themselves. I had change mine at the mobile store the price with 5 times more expensive than the real price of the glass screen. Thank you for the clear demonstration without wasting time.
This actually was the first time ever I tried to install a Screen Protector. I went from the video to our two phones following directions to a tee. I did good and actually surprised my wife. Today was a good D A Y. Just follow the instructions and you shall succeed. Have fun and good luck.

Thank you so much for the tape trick ❤ I made the hinge, cleaned the screen again, peeled the tab off & let go with my eyes closed 😂😂 opened my eyes & it was bonding to the screen with no air bubbles 🥳🥳🥳 I will tag this video in my Amazon review as a reference.

A super helpful video! Instead of tape for the hinge, I used a 1" x 3" Avery Multi-Use label. Since it's more rigid than tape I had no worries about anything shifting when I opened the hinge. I was able to fully open it to remove the backing and everything was still perfectly aligned when I closed it to install. Since the labels are removable they came off easily when I was finished with no residue. I also used a piece of one to make a little "handle" on the opposite side so I didn't have to touch the glass to move it.

Thanks for this tip Mae. Question: how many of those 1"x 3" Avery Multi-Use Labels did you use, and did you create the hinge by placing the 3" side of the label(s) horizontally or vertically? (My phone is a Moto G Pure with a 6.5" screen.)
@@craigcraigster4999 I placed one label vertically, centered on one of the long (side) edges of the screen. You could use an additional label, or piece of one if you feel one label isn't secure enough. Hope this helps!

This is hands down the best video I've seen so far on how to install a screen protector. No other video mentioned using tape or stickers as hinges. They kept going on about steam or some other convoluted method. Thank you!

Thank you so much as long as I have been using tempered glass I always messed it up for the sheer fact that I had no idea what the guide stickers were for and finally this time my tempered glass is on without dust spots inside and aligned perfectly! Thank you for this video!!!
Perhaps masking tape e.g. the blue 3 M painters' tape would work better for the "hinges"? I know some of the screen protector companies supply a model specific plastic frame to ensure proper alignment of the SP and phone screen. I just used one with on my Galaxy S8, and it was the least troublesome installation I've had and no bubbles whatsoever.

Very useful thanks. I used a spectacle wipe on the screen to make sure it was really clean and static free and proceeded as you described. It went on completely bubble free after couple of minor relifts at corners. There was still a trace bubble line round the edges but working my finger round the edges removed it. One hint to newbies, check which edge your tab is on. Mine was on the opposite side to this product so I had an 'Uhh! moment and had to put the hinge on the other side.

I had to throw away my protector because i kept having to remove it to realign again after putting the case on. The protector lost its stickiness and bubbles formed. Make sure to follow this video AFTER putting the case on and the display is turned on. For edge to edge protectors though im unsure.

Great video, excellent tip with the scotch tape too. For the bubbles you could use a kitchen rolling pin(very gently of course), or buy a dowel frome depot or Lowes before starting another screen protector job.
I have always had good luck with a credit card

Thank you! I thought I had destroyed my last screen protector when I removed it to get a speck of dirt off. Washing it and drying with a hair dryer worked! ❤
How well should these fit the screen? The one i bought has the right make/model on the label but just lining it up, its a good 4mm narrower than the phone screen which is disappointing since it was £20 for the case and glass.
@5:30 when you have problems with pealing the plastic: use the same trick as with your hinges to create handles to hold the protector instead of trying to do that by holding the edges; so your right hand will hold the sticky tape (which has been attached to the top part of the protector) and you will use your left hand to peal the plastic off from the bottom part of the protector; this way you will guarantee that you will not touch the protector’s bottom surface
I ended up with a spot that does not want to disappear, it happened as the glass hinged down and started sealing towards the far edge and trapped air near the lower center of the screen.....of well. good instructional video, I had no idea it would be this involved.

Awesome advice just bought a really nice promotional cell phone bad thing is there's no accessories available yet other then what come with the phone so only one screen saver most don't get it right the first time including myself however your video helped me ace it the first time and no bubbles either . Brand new phone weeks only dropped it the first time... While someone was talking about getting a protective case.. it has tempered glass on it.. I remember having them put it on while thinking about coming back for a protective case... Had just enough cash to buy the phone... Replacement for the previous which I had no protective case and was starting to show rainbow lines cracked..... And clearly so apparently as it is smaller than the screen clearly ...cracked only on the corners of that over screen and made branches across a couple of spots... Just wondering how many times a person cracks the tempered glass while peeling off that tab and cover?

This was perfect! Great video. I still ended up with what seems like a tiny flaw/bubble thing - bu nothing compared to the old cracked screen protector I replaced. Feels like I have a new phone 😂- but, no, it's pretty old, it just looks great now.

In my experience, alignment is easy, I don't have to use the 'hinge' technique here. It's getting the phone clean enough that's hard, especially if you're using plastic screen protectors where any dust particle will product an ugly bubble.

Thanks very much for this. New iPhone SE2022 the screen of which I want to keep clean and scratch free. The kit I bought has three protectors. I used disposable latex gloves in order not to transfer any unwanted deposits … well worth it if you can work with gloves - you can remove them to peel off the hinge tapes.
Will the cover protector you took off fit back on after glass protector is installed?
Thanks for helping with one of life's terrifying experiences. Even factory applied screen protectors often have bubbles or dust debris. It's vital to use sticky tape to get off the tiny specks that you might not even see. Otherwise unremovable bubbles will appear.

What brand are you using? I’ve tried two different brands and there were lots of air bubbles. One of them was an ESR

Really helpful video! Most don't give you the tape hint which made all the difference because, just as he states, the strips included in the box don't hold. Some of the videos don't even talk about taping. It's just drop the glass (and pray for the best).

Finally had to find a vid after fighting the remaining protector I have to not have all these weird dirt specks under it. It makes me so mad. Broke down and ordered more. Better study up for the big test! The hinge is genius. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that in the battle of the screen protector today.

Some screen protectors are curved go to the Ege of phone, some use a liquid adhesive, we assume this is a sticker type adhesive? when case is put on causes bubble. Any suggestions Please? Thanks.

A little tip; make sure you are in a room where there is no/not much dust, for most people this is the bathroom but for me it was my porch (which has glass doors and walls), this prevents dust from coming onto your phone while perfecting the placement

do you recommend eating a jelly donut and pancakes with lots of syrup while applying the screen protector. Because that was what i did. the molasses syrup spilled off the plate and i tried whiping it off the phone with soft toilet paper but the toilet paper ripped as i rubbed off the syrup. but i was really hungry so i was eating the jelly donut as i was cleaning the syrup off the phone but the jelly dripped onto the screen too and got on the sticky part of the screen proctector and left red sticky smears on the glue along with pieces of toilet paper. i dipped the screen protector in gasoline to remove the jelly and syrup but it made it smell like gas. and then it was no longer clear and didnt stick to the phone very well. so i got some super glue and dabbed alot of it on the back of the screen protector but some of my jelly donut dripped onto the supper glue leaving more red goo there. i finally stuck it to my phone and let it dry but now my screen protector has toilet paper bits, and red smears all under it and i cant remove the screen protector. i tried using a screw driver to pry it off but it cracked the screen protector and and chipped my actual screen as i kept jamming it under the edges of the screen protector with as much strength as i could. i finally removed like fifty percent of the screen protector but pieces of it are all over the screen. I am going to apply another screen protector over it, by carefully bending it around the edges. and taping it around the corners and filling in the gaps with more super glue.

Is there a way to test it to make sure it can read a finger print before removing the protective layer? I have an s21 so fingerprints have to be done on the screen
I'm not sure but I dont think its necessary to test that it will probably work fine. in the worst case you will need to apply a bit more pressure to your screen but I don't think that's going to happen
