UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2 was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on May 8, 2010, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
UFC 113 featured the rematch between Lyoto Machida and Maurício Rua for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. The two first met at UFC 104, where Lyoto Machida retained his belt in a controversial unanimous decision victory.
Due to the controversy of the UFC 104 decision, a rematch was immediately announced and took place at UFC 113 on 8 May 2010 in Montreal. Rua won via knockout at 3:35 of round 1, after dropping Machida with a right and following up with punches on the ground. He was awarded the UFC Light heavyweight Championship, becoming just the second fighter to have won PRIDE and UFC titles. Following the victory, Rua underwent surgery in June to repair a knee injured during the bout against Machida.
Man, as much as I'm a fan of Machida, you have to give Shogun credit for this win.
Absolutely I'm the same bud 😅
I love how back than every light heavyweight title was getting passed quickly and every title fight ended with a knockout Chuck lidell KO coutoure Rampage KO lidell Evans KO griffin Machida KO evans Shogun KO machida
I will never forget this fight. Shogun, well past his better years, hurting, knocked out the guy everyone thought could only be beat by Jones to win the belt. Shogun was like nobody else.
yeah this was after the knee injuries and all those injuries if pride shogun fought he wouldve been one of the greatest ufc fighters although he already is and also if he was more lucky with matchmaking and became champ a little earlier (because jon jones
He was such a joy to watch in Pride with his soccer kicks 😅 that's where he really shined.
@@razalrankovic4622 He kind of blew it with the first Forrest Griffin fight. Though he did play basketball with Forrest’s head in the rematch.
@@michaeltorris5675 yeah
And well after Shogun’s prime. Many wars and injuries later he’s still capable of this. That shows the core of his fighting capabilities. The guy was a true artist in combat.
Jon jones discorda disso.
Even though Shogun won this fight, this was the end for him. He blew out his ACL again in this fight and never looked as explosive after this. Jones also used this fight to see Shogun's weaknesses. Machida showed he could take Shogun down and Shogun showed the sweep he used to stand back up, which Jones countered. Shogun is a lot of Cain Velasquez. Both were fantastic but injuries ruined their careers.
Esses caras são uns monstros da luta
Shogun é mais
@@alangledson6273sou mais fã do lyoto no cage, shogun é mais do pride

Crazy how Shogun just ate that knee and knocked him and went in on the ko.
Uma escorregada do dragão 🐉 definiu a luta !
Ele jogou a estratégia no lixo
Machida was great but I couldn't stand his fighting style whatsoever. Glad to see rua put his lights out😊
Same. He was so boring to watch in my opinion. I prefer to watch fighters slipping punches while trying to stay in the pocket, rather than that in and out (mostly out) style he had.
Machida can be boring but he likes to relying on keeping his distance away from his opponent. If you stay too close, you run the risk of taking a huge shot.
Pq não era pra Ter acontecido essa luta ?
Rua is 2-0 vs Machida....Rua got robbed the first time.
The first fight wasn't a robbery. It was a close fight, so the judges could have gone either way. I had it 3 rounds to 2 for Shogun.
@@watchmanonthewall14every fight is open for disagreement, like rampage vs machida, judges saw a win for rampage but it was a close fight. I’d love to see an “undraw” round in ufc
Not at all.
Machida jogou sua estratégia no lixo. Era pra fazer igual a outra luta.
Lyoto got the weakest chin of all fighters.
Nahhh
Dude look at the cross he took in his face, shogun hits like a tank
i think since this was his first KO against him thats not true
