We absolutely took that man for granted. If he was still chap he would have had 3 fights already
and his knees would be even more gone
@@harrywatson2694 his knees don't exist lol. Them things been gone
On bum knees! This is nuts
@@harrywatson2694he didn’t care he was still down to fight
@@harrywatson2694they ARE gone Just look at how he used to to take people down In his old fights compared to now
I think it’s pretty easy to miss him when welterweight seemingly hasn’t moved an inch since he lost the belt
Because none of the contenders want to fight and risk their position when the division isn't a meritocracy. Anyone who fights now is gonna have to wait for Belal to get the shot that he's already earned after Colby gets the shot his lawyers got him. Even if someone close to the top fights and wins now, they're looking at 6-8 months AT BEST before there's a champ and an opening for the next challenger. Then, whoever is objectively the most deserving and put the most work in will probably have to fight again to "mAkE a StAtEmEnT" to get the shot and could lose there. This shit has been happening in a ton of divisions and is inevitable when the contender who everyone knows should be next challenger isn't getting the shot. LW is looking at the same thing with Islam probably having to fight another couple rematches and all the incels who are bitching about him being scared of Volk will bitch about him "only fighting guys he already beat" and in the meantime no other 155 contenders near the top will take a fight until there's a shot available to be earned. Instant title rematches generally also have the same effect especially if it becomes a trilogy
him & izzy were boring but active as fuckkkkkk
@@williamjohnson9158 you’re watching the wrong sport bud. Both of them were dominant champs
Usman's reign was awesome. He made me look forward to PPV's. He just made spectacular moments during his reign 😥

He was a great champion. Always tried to better his performances and was active af. Never know what you got until its gone.
Usman fighting in Feb and April of 2021 is part of the reason why I got into mma in the first place. Seeing active champions like Usman and Izzy got me invested. If Usman never wins again he is still one of my favorites

Haven't watched the video, but yes. Kamaru was so dominant despite his knees and he evolved from a primary wrestler to an amazing standup finisher with one of the best jabs in the UFC
Absolutely. He had 3 title defenses in a single year in 2021 which is incredible. He had 5 total defenses and only one of them wasn’t particularly exciting, although it was still a dominant win. The other 4 were amazing fights. I think he has one of, if not the most under appreciated title runs in UFC history. He was a champion who was the most active fighter in the division for a while.
Bro what does being active and having a bunch of title defenses matter when the UFC has to scramble to give him subpar opponents? Jorge Masvidal rematch and Colby Covington rematch were atrocious
@@loismylane Something is better than nothing
I do think that frequency of defenses is something that goes a bit past people's appreciation. Sure the competition was always top tier, but it's up to the division to step up their ability across contenders.
@@vastaviksam2784 there is no "nothing". There are people who fight less often but against top teir and then people who fight too often and the UFC has to compensate by sometimes giving bad title contenders It has also popularized champions handpicking their opponents

Yes. He was VERY active despite the toll it was taking on his body, he fought and rematched the guys who everyone thought would be the one to beat him. His charisma was somewhat lacking, but he delivered fights.
Of course we did. We get so busy saying what a person isn’t instead of focusing on what they are. Dude was active, never turned fights down, and was always classy af in wins and losses. I for one genuinely liked Usman and UFC is worse without him

I still remember Usman’s lead up to getting the belt. I just remember watching him win after win thinking “damn this guy is good”.
His striking development was amazing to watch
Usman like Adesanya won’t get their due till they retire. A lot of fans nowadays seem to forget this man’s dominance just cause of how his reign ended

Gonna explain to me the dominance ? Usman defended against the same 3 guys colby, masvidal and burns them as soon as an actual legit elite welterweight came along in edwards he got beat twice …. Nothing dominating about his run at all
I always found snoozeman boring. My favourite moment of his was when leon knocked him out
I’ll admit I did. Honestly even if they have a boring fight here and there ACTIVE champions are what matters to me. Get the division moving!
Yes, I said it at the time and people laughed. He wasn't a trash talker but he was a finisher. Usman was one of the greatest champions MMA has ever had. Even in his title loss he won 4.75 rounds of that fight. Absolute legend.
Yeah the way he finished masvidal against the cage in the first fight was stunning, and the way he finished leon in the first championship fight was so much fun. So fun watching Usman just hold against the cage and not even attempt a submission or more than 1 gnp shot a minute
Yea no he lost the first round. According to every judges as well
@MomDoer-qc7iw Lmao nice way to gloss over his destruction of Gilbert Burns at his peak or Usman's clutch KO of Colby. Hell he almost KO'd Colby twice in the rematch.
Lost the first round, goes to show people don't really watch fights with their eyeballs. Atleast have the mental Capacity to remember them😊
He definitely became the cocky trash talker by the end of his reign.
He's easily a top 3 WW of all time.
At the very least top 2

There’s so many fighters fans take for granted and then when we look back we realize how great they were
Personally, I enjoyed Usman as champ. But casuals definitely miss him if he still had the belt, he would've fought 2 or 3 times since March. This is what I was worried about when Leon got the belt.
People can say whatever they want about him, but he's one of the greatest of all time, and one of best fighters I have ever seen.
Usman will be missed he was a great champion
Usman got us through covid!
Welterweight is starting to become Lightweight no one wants to fight each other they all just want to sit on their ranks
I loved watching Usman when he was champ. Yeah he had boring fights coming up but his reign was amazing. He made me wake up at 4 in the morning for his ppv’s (I live in Holland). Hopefully Leon beats Colby because he is never going to defend that belt.
Ofc we took him for granted. Like we always do. We never learn.
I loved Leon since I started watching MMA frequently (2019 or so). I was always mesmerized by his technique.
Usman and leon’s activity has been almost the same for their first 3 title fights
Hello
My favorite fighter. I miss his reign endlessly
That intro went hard af
Usman’s legacy will only grow with time, so many fans came into the sport right before or during the Covid-era and Usman was one of the 2-3 guys that really defined that era. Those fans are going to really appreciate Usman as time goes on, that type of WW champ is not the standard
Usman is one of the best champions in UFC history
Oh yeah so great remember when Leon Edwards fucking slept his dumbass with 1 minute left. So Great.
I really really love these discussion videoes. Honestly the best MMA content I consume. It ticks all of my boxes. Please keep em coming. You guys have great chemistry.
While I get why the UFC wants to shove Colby down our throats, I don't understand how fans don't get why someone like Leon doesn't want to gift Colby a third title shot at WW despite all of Colby's inactivity. Perhaps, just perhaps, Leon remembers when he was getting passed over repeatedly for Masvidal and Colby, and he doesn't want to do that to someone else in a similar position? Why are we painting Leon as the bad guy holding up all the fun of a Colby fight and not instead painting him as the champion trying to make the sport just a little bit more meritocratic?
I didn't miss him, even when he was fighting.
The division has been shit since
Usman and Izzy get so much hate for being cringey and boring yet have consistently been apart of some of the best rivalries in the modern eras and some of the greatest championship fights of all time.
That and their skin color. There are a lot of fans that will not give credit nor root for man of color.
I think people disliked Izzy after whole race thing with DDP which he was completely out of line and was boarder line racist.
@WAzzzUUppp people hates izzy as soon as he knocked out whittaker. most fans like contenders but they hate champs
@@GoodStuff1992 Nope Izzy had a big fan base after that, the Romero fight was the start of his downfall and then the whole race shit be pulled sealed it
@@WAzzzUUpppit wasn’t borderline, dude was shouting racial slurs on a podcast. “Cracker” doesn’t mean that much to white people, but his intent was to insult DDP for being white and that’s disgusting behaviour.

Yes yes yes I do miss our champion.
When do we get a live in action Tommy involved in one of these conversations?
Leon’s never been that active, we should’ve expected this when he win the belt
Leon was quite active then Covid came along and he had about 5 fights cancelled due to it for the most part Leon’s just unlucky not inactive by choice. People gotta stop being unfair to Leon acting like he’s just inactive because if he did fight this summer in July that would be 3 fights in less then a year after 2 tough fights with the Pfp king
People definitely did . One of the greatest champs fr
When Usman stares down Tyron Woodley and just gives him that disgusted look-over with the Nigerian face-paint.... chills.
He was disgusted, he was just on a mission..that’s all
Without watching - absolutely not - long live King Leon 👑
Omg spooky stories. So true 😅
Great fighter
All sports fans take everyone for granted but especially the greats
Dudes on ALL ON THE SAUCEZUL
Absolutely NOT missed.
People didn’t like Usman? Maybe in the UK or maybe with a certain political leaning of MMA fans. But the majority of young MMA fans I knew loved Usman. Wasn’t overly cocky, was dominant, looked like a super hero, and he was a good role model. Usman wasn’t my favorite fighter but I definitely liked him more than the other welterweights save for Wonderboy and Khamzat
Why does no one talk about the Usman defense after the head kick, if Usman is what we say, he got beat twice. And as for Colby’s popularity? News stations are explaining what happens if a presidential candidate gets elected while in prison…popular doesn’t mean anything but that.
Yes! Just yes. Haven’t even seen the video and yes we took him for granted
He literally has one highlight reel finish in 6 years lol. His only other HL is getting rocked by Diaz
The issue is regardless if Leon or Colby wins in December they will hold the division up
Him and Izzy in recent years were the best serving champions to consistently sign fights. Oh and Charles olivera too
No. Leon won the trilogy and there's no talk about him at all now. No speculation about his path to regain the belt or even just fun matchups. Even the title of this video is more like a question about a retired fighter. He's not retired, we just all feel like it's proper for that to be the end. No one is aching to see him fight again.
He kind of pulled a reverse GSP
His title defenses were the only thing that kept the division running, now it finally took like what 5 months or however long since his last fight to get activity in the division?
KAMARU was a dope champion. Hated on him at the beginning of his reign. But towards the end he was undeniable and more entertaining. He will forever be a champ
Its crazy how Carla Esparza was “Strawweight Champion” before losing to Weili and nobody cares when she fights again lol
Just saw the Strickland fight with Usman . Made him look like easy
Yeah I used to hate on him, now I see he was a seriously good champ. Miss him
its now become the welterwait division
Definitely not missed
Sure as hell ain't better now.
Yes
We all knew Leon was going to do this if he got the belt. Dude hardly ever fought before he has the belt.
Leon fighting twice this year. Same activity as usman who defended once in 2019 and once in 2020. Idiot
I can't wait to see who Usman is fighting next
We certainly took his knee's for granted.
Kamaru Usman is cut from the same cloth as GSP. Call him whatever you want. The man went in there and got it done.
Getting compared to gsp was like comparing drexler to jordan..both champs but different levels of champs
"Kamaru Usman was never my friend" - Leon Edward's shin
As a fan we never took him for granted but tbh he was forgotten after his lost to leon
Perfect example of how mma fans cares more about personality than actual skill and wins.
They pretty much are admitting even in this comment section that they want fake personalitys😂 sad they hate on him for that he actually just minds his businesses somebody probably will bring up some trash talk as if every fighter doesn’t trash talk while also stabbing Colby who will trash talk a terminally Ill kid 💀
Leon has literally put this division on standstill. Of course we miss Usman.
I do think Leon should fight Colby and it certainly feels a bit like he's trying to duck a bad matchup. But equally I think Colby ducked Khamzat to keep his #1 contender spot so I'm not gonna stand up for him now. The main question for me though is who Leon _does_ want to fight. He was saying Jorge before (pure money fight) but he's retired now so what's the plan?
Colby leon is already announced for 296
Not me, I loved having Marty from Nebraska as champ.
I did i know i did how active and dominant he was....
We are in a time in modern mma where it takes more than just being a champion and a winner to be a star. A time where the difference in pay between a champion and a star champion makes every champion want to be a star but that stardom is based on how people perceive you. Not everyone is likable, why? idk.
Its all because of his attitude that he shows when he was the champion. that's why.
See people only wanna realize this now and not when it actually mattered 🙁. Marty was active and entertaining
You got listed #1 on a top 5 mma youtube channels video by Strike Verse
Honestly leon is fighting 2x this year so i cant complain
Even hardcore fans took him for granted.
Usman's currently the second greatest UFC welterweight champion, next to the all-time great GSP
And the question is now who does he fight they just announced Wonderboy vs. Shavkat and shavkat with the only person I was interested him fighting
I do miss watching him fight
I liked him, the division was at one of its most exciting moments when he was champ, he was cringe but he was one of the few fighters who made it to the top and kept developing and I can’t tell you how much I hate fighters that get kinda good, then just stop developing any skills(Paddy Pimblett, most heavyweights 😅) but his fights were great. His title win was what made me a fan
Why was there no UFC Noche video?!
When Leon do post fight interview, I seriously can't consider him as face of UFC champion. Maybe he shock with Diaz almost finished punch. But he bounce back with rocky emotional post fight speech. Look at me now. I really jump to follow closely to that guy
I've been missing usman❤ top 3 best WW all time
The male holy Holmes 😂
Wasn't a fan of him but I was a fan of his activity
So this is going to probably draw eyebrows but Ben Askren is SUPER underrated because most people only know him from his UFC run which was actually post-retirement and the entire run he was in need of hip surgery. Dude was undefeated across the two next biggest promotions in the sport. His title runs in Bellator and One are probably neck and neck with Nick Diaz in Strikeforce and EliteXC. I don’t have him top 3 but he’s definitely top 5-7 depending on who you rank where.
Colby finishing Leon scissor hands
Casuals took Usman for granted not Hardcores such as myself.
I think dominant champs always get hated but I don’t think Colby is the draw people pretend he is
You dont get it and that is understandable. You're an Indian.
@@I-HAVE-A-BOMB I understand that racists get excited when fighters appeal to the lowest common denominator. Kinda like when the bad guy in wWE says he hates America and John Cena slams him. It’s baby shit I would let it slide if Colby didn’t have such a boring style in the cage. Pillow hands, no submission skills, no smashing ground n pound. Literally the American Belal but he wears a trump hat so you pretend he’s exciting. I’m from New York btw I have an Indian name
If you didn’t like usman you were a hater, the man was a personified champ! Stop ya hate, find love within yourself
Alot off mma fans gave usman his props after beating gilbert burns, even the haters were like this guy is special, I like usman esp his fighting style its exciting and the pressure is something to respect, but i like colby too we need a bad guy in the WW division, i think leon has tons of online fans he almost has 6 million views on that ufc speech post fight..
