Captured every single Vergil moment from all the Devil May Cry games and placed it in chronological order. I also edited the DMC5 cutscenes and placed them in order for a better viewing experience.
I recorded everything on a PS5. Some of the cutscenes from the older games are CG and Capcom did not remaster them for HD. That's why they will appear worse than the rest of the in-engine cutscenes.
Everyone knows Dante but not everyone knows the full story behind his twin brother. Hopefully this video featuring every single Vergil appearance will help newcomers understand his motivation for more power.

I'm now a grown ass man almost in my 30's, and I still lose my shit when vergil catches the bullets and whips them back at Dante. So cool lol

Man Vergil was brutal as a young man, he’s much more secure in himself now and he’s mellowed out. Still dangerous and extremely powerful but not as aggressive. And he was never evil, just consumed by a need for power.

I love both versions. I think it's very fitting that he's a little more subdued in DMC5...but I do kinda miss how pissed off he sounded in-game in 3 and 4. I wouldn't change a thing, though

Inferiority means he focuses solely on the moment he was weak, and blindly flails, praying never to be that weak again, not realizing what he’s doing to himself. Vergil’s always been hyperfocused to his pain, it seems. Pain of losing his family, pain of being abandoned. The holyshitwtf pain of his ten year long suffering as being Mundus’s b*tch, he never could move past it. It was so bad, several parts of him chose to rot away, far away from him, rather than return the worst of his pain, despite said parts still being treasured by his human side somehow (V fought to take back each part twice. Once during the missing 48 hours, shown in manga, second time during the game near V’s end) Once that pain was gone though, Vergil, also finding how important his humanity was to him, was able to listen to Dante and Nero. Because of that, it also salved the pain of his other hold ups. And he finally gained more than he lost. He finally let go of that stupid complex of his.

Sorry about mixing terms but yeah i agree although I think that he still has a little bit of it only because of his pride as the older brother and the fact that Dante wooped his ass at least 4 times with one being a draw and vergil only beating him once so he and Dante definitely have there own little rivalry to fight out.
Well because he is literally strong af now, i mean now he can freely become evil, faster than light, cut through reality like butter, nuking whole large area etc.. Maybe because his strength he has now give him more openly i guess

The bit at the end of 5, where they're just sparring is so wholesome to me. Sure they're fighting but they're not trying to kill each other (I doubt either of them could at this point). And fighting each other is all they've known for their entire lives.

They were born into a household of a legendary warrior, taught to fight at a very young age and spent most of their youth trying to kill each other. Other than fighting, they really don’t know how to talk to each other normally aside from clashing swords.

No. I believe Dante broke the crystal more than once and damaged Urizen a little bit. Dante fought Urizen for, like, 24 hours. He must've done that. Heck, he even broke it in one hit when amped up by the power of the Devil Sword Sparda. He just didn't have enough power to keep fighting. That's why one hit from Urizen turned him unconscious. The reason why Urizen stood up was because he was pissed that Nero could deal damage to him. That's all.
Fight outcome predictions: Dante (Rebellion) vs Urizen (Pre-Fruit): Urizen wins with little damage, Dante could break crystal multiple times Dante (Sparda) vs Urizen (Pre-Fruit): Urizen wins, but sustains heavy damage Nero (Devil Breaker + Devil Trigger) vs Urizen (Pre-Fruit): Same as Dante (Rebellion) vs Urizen (Pre-Fruit).

That’s because it was made around the prototype of resident evil 4 which was supposed to be a horror game. There’s also a lot of similarities between re 4 Leon and Dante
But DMC 1 still had some comedic moment for Balancing the dark and gothic theme

Vergil is such a fantastic character... His use of katana is what impressed me the most. Even though he is a character who represents the bad guys, I like him more than dante, not because he is bad but because of his mystical character... I wish they would make a play with a story for him. No matter how much we control and play with the tax, it's all about Dante's story. I want a play about Vergil's life.

from the pespective of Vergil, I can see he doesn't hate Dante at all and neither does Dante to his brother. Vergil wants Dante to seek his true power while Dante wants Vergil to be more than just a power-freak because they both know what each other lacks of. After all, they're still brother who takes care for each other but in a stylish way.

The funny thing is that Dante had one of the fruit that Vergil did so much to get. The Ambrosia Item from DmC3 looks strikingly similar, and is also described as a Demonic Fruit that humans are forbidden to even touch. If it's the same principle then Dante had access to the same power Vergil had been chasing even before beating him, and still turned it down.

When he heard Nero’s cries (well, his angry primal screams) during their battle, he sounded so remorseful. He literally couldn’t bring himself to debate Nero’s points. He just sounded so incredibly remorseful.

Pretty sure upon being sent back to the demon realm, he was forced to drop it.
He was Mundus’s personal toy, for ten years, I think I read. Mundus picked his humanity off, piece by piece, like picking pieces of your own skin off with tweezers. He suffered utter agony day in and out, for years and years. And even when it was declared his humanity was ‘destroyed’, something had to have hung on, because he still fought back against Mundus’s control, and thus he was still tortured. Until one final slight I think, then he was permanently under Mundus’s control. He was then Nelo Angelo. Mundus’s prized b****. Vergil must have somehow been there still though, because he specifically titles that hell as “His time as Nelo Angelo” (well, Griffon says, Griffon being yet another part of Vergil until he lets himself rot to keep that memory from returning to Vergil)

Sure... but I honestly want DMC 6 to feature Vergil as the main character. The classic trope of the anti-hero finding true strength because of "emotions". By avenging his mother and protecting Nero from Mundus, Vergil will finally reach true (anime) power. And they can even use that outcome to set DMC7, Vergil will maybe get crazed for power once more because he just killed Mundus and there is a vacation in the underworld. Saying all that, give me the Sparda brothers or Sparda himself, but don't continue with Nero... he sucks
