      @MrJAWhit75@MrJAWhit7510 жыл бұрын
    • Joseph Whitney Don't get me wrong, I love his honesty too. But in this instance I took his words to mean. You cannot take a break from this promotion while under contract. Basically saying, I don't care if you are having issues in your personal life. While under contract to us,you will fight. Not having any regards for how GSP, the person! not the fighter! was. I got the overall impression he didn't have his best interests at heart. That's what I took issue with. Perhaps I picked him up wrong. But now looking at this string of fighters coming out sand saying the UFC treats them like pieces of meat, maybe I wasn't?

      @PaddyIrishman@PaddyIrishman10 жыл бұрын
    • Joseph Whitney That's the maximum a fighter would fight. GSP had 11 title defenses over 7 years. It takes these guys 5 to 6 months to train. You don't just train, fight and then train again for another fight. You get rest periods. It is the UFC that sets the fight. You don't get any UFC champions fighting 4 times a year. That's ridiculous. Maybe 2.

      @jumpmanz1805@jumpmanz18052 жыл бұрын
  • I l know as a promoter it must suck to have a star fighter take a break suddenly, especially if a rematch seemed imminent, but the rudeness and anger was inappropriate. He could've just accepted his decision then work on it later. He could've talked GSP into coming back later, he couldn't pressures GSP into a rematch if the break was too long. There was narrative in seeing if he still got at after a break. Dana White was such a hot head about it, he didn't think through all of the options, but instead he plowed through everything and everyone knows he messed up.

Uh the reason why, I wasn't really trying to knock him out. Uh I knew it was gonna be my first 5 round fight, so I was putting about 70% on him. uh you know, uh it was enough. You know, 70% of my power was enough." Dana: "It wasn't enough cause you left it in the hands of the judges, it wasn't enough. You better do 100% next time."

  • Ah, I gotta disagree..I was listening to the buzz about it being a robbery all day and then I watched the fight to see for myself. I don't think it was as one sided as people made it out to be. GSP ate more shots and got taken down more than we've ever seen but he wasn't being dominated. In my opinion, he returned fire. He stayed busy with his punches, and kicks and take downs and he didn't give up. He maintained himself. But, that's not taking anything away from Hendricks who did exactly the same. It's the first time we've seen GSP meet his match. And that's the problem..it was even. The 50/50 debate about who won the fight suggests just that. It means, Hendricks was not convincing enough. They need another fight. That's my take on it.

Looking back, I now regret feeling that way and do not feel that way anymore in 2016. Through the years, You went out there in the octagon and put everything on the line and went into that arena every time and never backed down. U have tremendous courage, determination and will. Just because your a smart fighter and not a brawler lawler or diaz doesn't mean you should get bashed and hated on so much. I hope you return in 2016 or 2017 to fight at welterweight or middleweight. Its prob not going to be conor McGregor cuz he is fighting for the lightweight belt ufc 205. What about fighting Diaz again? I personally had GSP winning 1, 3, and 5...But even if his hand didn't raise I was more impressed with him in this fight than any other. What is funny is people's argument is that GSP out pointed Johny, but Round 1 Johny out scored GSP. Round 2 and 4 were clearly Johny's. Look at the reaction of GSP and his corner when they call his name, they were surprised to get the win.

  • I just watched this fight for the first time, and I have to say - it was a "great fight". This was competitive, and like any great fight - you can't be upset with a decision that goes to the champion. Hendricks will eventually get his title, but GSP looked fresher in the last couple of rounds, and I think the slip was really the difference maker, in terms of the damage done. Again, you can't argue with the champion retaining his title in such a "great fight". If it wasn't a great fight, there would have been a title change.

Sounds like he needs to make a decision if he retires then it was an honor watching him fight in the octagon. If he decides to rematch it will be a fight for the ages. If he takes time off and comes back I believe he will be better. Whatever he does respect his decision, he's an entertainer and a sportsman, and a humble one at that. If GSP retires i say good career and thankyou for your time, you will be remembered as the greatest.

He took more damage in his last three fights than he did in his career prior to the knee injury. 50% of of the total damage he took in his entire mma career were in his fights against Carlos Condit, Nick Diaz and Johny Hendricks. All three of these fights took place after he injured his knee and it is so apparent that he affected him. His face was a mess after the Carlos Condit fight, his face was also a mess after the Nick Diaz and then he got smashed by Johny Hendricks. • 1 was Hendricks, 2 was pretty even but probably hendricks, 3 was GSP with the jabs, 4 was definitely hendricks & 5 was close but I'd still say hendricks won that round.

  • Theres talk of a half point system which would help score the difference between a winning round and a dominant round. 10 point must, winner gets 10 loser 9.5, a dominant round would be 10 -9 and obviously a knock down is 10 -8. That half point would help ,in some cases, the heavier puncher. but not in all cases.

  • And by the way, when Johny was asked how he remembered round 1, he pointed out GSP getting the takedown and the guillotine attempt, and only pointed out his one takedown. He couldn't even justify how round 1 should have gone to him.

  • I swear i put my money on Hendricks i was disapointed with decision but after post-conference i was really angry and disapointed how Dana and Rogan threated Gsp he said that he have a problems respect that ignorant fools Dana is starting to behave like Don King and Rogan yesterday said that George should retire and give his belt to Johny what in the name of lord he is champ and he is a champ for seven years and after just one bad performance they threat him like that awful awful no class at all.

    • Exactly..Dana is such a bull shit artist these days no one takes the guy seriously.. Saying in effect that "I'm a promoter and therefore I have no interest in controversy" is such transparent bullshit. GSP won on points Jonny won on dammage, if they wanted to awards fights based on dammage figure out a way to do it Dana and don't pretend that your shocked every blood fight to get everyone geared up for the next one.
