Fella, you better start at least wearing safety glasses, or you definitely will sooner or later regret it!! I know this by experience. Twice I have had to have metal grinded out of my eyeball because the doctor could not pull it out!! And both times I was told that I was at the edge of losing my eyeball!! Seeing is a precious thing!! Once it's gone it does not return!!!
When your balls are as big as his you don't need safety glasses. 😂
His "Safety squint" is on point 😂 leave him be ❤ "only kidding "
[Insert Leonardo DiCaprio squinting meme here]
I really could care less what you think!! It was my eye and I know the dr. had to grind out the sliver after it broke off when he tried to pull it out!! Then he had to grind away the rust ring left on my cornea. And this just shows how stupid some folks are!! So, by all means you get you a grinder and grind metal all you want with your unprotected eyes wide open to see the slivers fly!! @@FukkKZheadsAss
yah know, seeing this guy use all these modern tools and machines... it makes me realize how amazing our ancestors were... Discovering metal working, shaping all these intricate and beautiful pieces... inventing tools, hunting tools, weapons, armor... just all kinds of stuff and they made all of it with their "hands".
Hi, i am totaly agree with you, our ancerters was very smart by using and inventing from theirs hands ? Excuse me for my poor english, i'm French, lol. Peace. ;)
The difference between cast bronze and forged iron / steel was a giant leap forwards too. A forged weapon could cut a cast bronze sword in half.
yes, ьуsame
seeing him sand and grind all that metal into dust with no mask is concerning too.
@@HikingFeral "A forged weapon could cut a cast bronze sword in half." in a fantasy movie that you saw? 😅 Bronze is used to this day because of bronze very good mechanical properties...
i have had two separate eye surgeries from grinding/ cutting steel. got the same advice from both surgeons, "i never heard of a blind knife maker". keep your eyes covered dude !
I also once thought I was some kind of remarkable untouchable, 15 years no incident. People stopped telling me to wear goggles. And then one day chipping away at red hot flux... Caught between the winker and the eyeball. Right eye looks like I'm peeping through a marble.
The end result is interesting but kinda rough. It's very pretty, and I love that combination of the feathered look of the blade and the bright gold/brass of the grip. No matter how well you cleaned it up, that poured handle has some serious problems that'll become apparent later on, as that rough area near the transition from blade to tang is probably going to crack with the stresses of use, as well as accumulating dirt and grime very quickly. Plus it looks like it could slip out of your hand with a good swing. These problems could be mediated if you had used a bolster of any kind, even an integral bolster, and a bit of texture or fluting on the grip. Still, this is a very nice idea and even display piece. I'd love to see you refine it a bit more on another build. This is also the first time I've seen someone use a step drill to make their blade. Pretty cool.
That bit is some good steel! I'm a bit like you. Its interesting but before the "feathering", it would've made a GORGEOUS blade. I'm not wild about the brass. No holes in the tang to hold it fast. Too smooth. Not a working blade at all. Curious about the balance. It may be spot on. Safety? None to be seen. Bad things happen very fast. That said, there's some skill here and he did it like HE WANTED IT LOL!
I think the purpose of this piece is more decorative than functional, if that is the case well, it doesn't really matter.
Yeah that handle gave me serious pause. Too smooth, not to mention just a bit too much impact vibration and it's splitting in half... I was given a knife several years ago, the Buck Knife 100 Year Anniversary 1902 - 2002. if you Google that, it's the fixed blade, black handle knife. Sturdy build, seems good quality steel, good balance and the hilt even has a finger guard and some shallow finger grooves which would aid in gripping... if it wasn't completely smooth! I'd never even consider actually using it unless I had a bladesmith/leather worker wrap the handle for me first. It's nothing but a show piece right as it is.
TBH I thought it looked unfinished at the end of the video. Like, was that it..?
same, it looks nice but i thought it's unfinished so i wasn't completely satisfied lolz
I don't care how good you are, safety is always first. Face shield, googles, something...
Beautiful knife ⚒️🔪and nice eye protection. Wearing eye protection doesn't make you a weak man. 😎
Some cool Oakley's would have maintained his coolness. A knife like a feather, not my first choice.

No words... AMAZING... FANTASTIC JOB DONE, FOR SURE !!! Love it.
Dude, that cutoff wheel on the bench grinder is terrifying! Best of luck with that. When it goes bad it is gonna go so bad

Incredible craftsmanship... A beautiful piece of art!
Wonderful camera work, outstanding craftsmanship, what is most amazing is the total lack of personal safety, glasses, guards , gloves etc. risking your eye sight sets a poor example
Kinda badass tho
Not at all badass to endanger your eyesight and set a bad example. Actually pretty stupid and surprising for someone who has such obvious skill and experience.@@Nykandros
It's called being a man. Liberal cry babies use "protection".
@@vaquero4495 he is a tough looking youtuber. He's not really a worker. And that knife is rubbish. Only stupid people use angle grinders without saw guards.
True. Also no mask when grinding off the brass isn't the smartest idea. The zinc in particular can really fuck you up when you breathe it.
OUTSTANDINGLY BEAUTIFUL CRAFTSMANSHIP !! You Have Mad SKILLS !!
Impressive and fun to watch ... such talent!!
I am addicted to watching videos on this KZhead channel these days. The process of producing images using interesting materials with excellent quality is interesting. Especially, the feather-shaped knife in this video is really cool.
In the most ancient of legends, a hero was said to have a sword that was as light as a feather, and could cut a pot full of water so clean that the water would not spill until the pot was touched. The legend of the feather-blade, a direct inspiration for the Light Saber. If you want citations, well, that's homework for you.
12:29 Eye protection, please, your skills are too precious for the risk.
Podria ser el cuchillo de legolas hojaverde.....
Looks nice. First ever knife forging video i saw online with metal handle
Now thats forged art! Its beautiful!!
Juste un mot: bravo l'artiste!!!!👍👍👍
So satisfying to watch.. wish my job was like this.. all I do is make wrought iron gates and railings, the most exotic thing I ever do is make scrolls lol
Sei stolz! ☺️👍🏻🍀
@@EgoundderRest Danke, schön das zu sagen

Very nice work. You could now also go even more wild with the handling grip by giving it some predator bird features.
Que hermoso trabajo!!👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍mis saludos al maestro✌
Bom trabalho, ficou perfeita!
Beautiful work.
Not a lot of people fo what you do. Good job and keep creating 🤝👍🏽
Nice peace of metal looking like a real knife :P
Incredible craftsman, a true artist.
Woow,impresive ART!
Amazing that you did the bevels etc on free hand and got such a fantastic result! A pair of a little more covering sunglasses would prob be a good idea! Great work
Exatamente...
This guy's is most likely from the region of South or North epirus, face is definitely epirotian and not Brazilian.
Muy bonito trabajo, muy bien hecho. Felicitaciones.
What a stunning creation! Now my question: Where may I place an order for one, please?
wow and awesome example of metal artistry
Those safety squints are impressive as hell!
this is beyond amazing. Never knew how knives were made. Amazing art, now I love knives even more 😍😍😻😻💝💝💘💘
I never enjoy watching folks working without eye protection while grinding.
They only learn once its too late and then live to tell the tale of their own stupidity. Grinders are incredibly dangerous tools and are definitely the second most dangerous tools in any workshop that also has a table saw.
relax its a polished machine not cutting
@@MrCrazy-R It matters not what the machine was - it was spitting out particles which your eyes would be damaged by!
Great craftmanship.
safety squints and hold yer breath, both signs of a true master craftsman!
That was a remarkable piece of art
Nice. I love the design.
What a really beautiful Work!
Wow! Zero heat treating, a blade that is warped so badly you wont show a side-on angle and doesn't even have a sharp edge! And that's *besides* the total lack of safety mentioned by every person in the comments with an iq over room temperature. You sir win a 3.5/10. All three points go to how pretty the knife looks at first glance.
This isn't about making knives. It's about making KZhead videos. Western men love to watch people from countries where people still work with their hands. So much so, they'll watch useless fake videos where people make all kinds of useless rubbish.
@@twatmunro I'm from a Western country, and this blade is garrrbage. 😂

Without wanting to deconstruct your comment.. It had an oil-cooled heat treatment (8:30) after being passed through acid to blacken the engravings. On the other hand, it does not seem to have been reheated with slow cooling afterwards to make the blade more flexible and less brittle.
@@axell15thewispmaster51 lmao found the ragebait.
You have awesome craftsman ability sir. Awesome fashioned tool.
That’s what I imagine holding a feather from an Arc Angel’s wing would look like. Amazing job 😎👍🏼
new story concept right there. Holy weapons derrived from angel parts. Grim but cool. But a single feather from an arch angel can produce a knife which can cut any material and never dull.
That's awesome work of art
I was worried about the handle cracking in the future. Then I realized he is making this with only Power Tools, Electricity and that Press. All in a New York Apartment.
Great Master,The Best of the Best!
Awe dawg, wearing gloves and glasses don't make you less of a man! Keep your safety, safe, man!
Beautiful work
Remember safety glasses can be useful if you want to continue seeing sparkles in the future.
Beautiful work!
I made a similar blade during my Engineering Apprenticeship, I used D2 tool steel, it s construction went towards on of the modules in forge work & hand finishing, I still have it today, It had none of the etching or cutouts shown here as it is a utilitarian tool has 10 mm Phenolic sheet scales and can easily punch though an oil drum or cut through Sigmoid steel packing strap/band.
If it didn’t have the cut outs and etch works isn’t it more similar to standard kitchen knife lol
D2 is a great choice should have used G10 though
@@Barefoot_Joe Its what was available at the time, when you're an apprentice you use what you have to hand, that is usually part of how you're graded on the project.
Good ole safety squints. Love to see it. Beautiful knife as well.
Made a knife similar to this when in high school. I bought a nice Schrade 12" fixed blade Bowie knife, took off the handle then made a shape I liked out of wood with nice finger grooves. Made it so it would slide on/off the blade. Cast aluminum instead of brass handle on it using the wood handle I made to pack the sand around for the mold. Finished it off nice. Loved it, so did every one else. some yrs later some one stole it from me.
I'm confused, you kept the original steel blade from the Bowie knife and made a custom handle?
Yes I was in high school and did not know anything about making a knife blade, but, wanted to make a custom knife. So I started with the Schrade 12" fixed blade Bowie knife because I liked the way it looked and it had a section of carbide on the cutting edge. Then cast the custom aluminum handle on it. Shop teacher was impressed I did it that way so I did not have to make the blade. Wish I had a picture, it looked awesome.@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017
Yes, really incredible.
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 Yes. Buy a cheap low-quality knife, remove the (I assume plastic or wood) handle and cast a new one. Yes, a metal handle. => "you made a knife".
Now this is a work of art. It looks exactly like with the X-Men person which is archangel would use the same weapon out of his so-called feather scales to shoot those weapons with his wings that would impale you immediately. Such a beautiful design that I can think anything else that’s better than that. It’s just Beautiful!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Safety precautions, I haven't heard of it And the product is very beautiful
Buen trabajo herrero!!

All of that steel came from that step drill? Unbelievable... and I mean that quite literally... (at 2:50)
That step bit is a solid cone of metal. Plenty to work with once heated and flattened.
Does it actually have the high strength to shave other metals given the bit you used to make it from?
So, I don't know anything about forging blades other than watching Forged in Fire, but after watching this, I think I want to try to make a knife. Cool video. Cool ideas.
Vakmanschap op een ander level. Love it!
That's an awesome gift...if you can made this.....absolutely beautiful and amazing, echt super gaaf....zo'n mes!!
beautiful knife ever
WOW!!!!!!! Friend, this is so beautiful, I have no words. Where can I buy this beauty?
This kind of thing just tickles my eyeballs.
Really great work !
I really loved this awesome knife!
"This feather is able to cut off even metal" not in this video tho? i see no cutting?
honestly?..... I REALLY like it. I didn't think I would. but I do.
I wonder how long it took to make that knife. It was awesome to watch.
Very cool! If it's on sale somewhere, I'll buy it!
quedo de maravilla 👍
C'est une merveille !!!!!
Beautiful
I want one of those knifes for my kitchen 😋
I love it.
bro wear safety glasses its better than drilling something out of your eye
it's very fantastic!! It looks like an orichalcum knife used by elves!
I love it !!!
Focus can be more important than safety in many case.. 😅, accident happens in a millisec, most modern equipment can cut a metal to half, if someone lack that focus, they can be nailed even armed with super protection.! Appeciate their great craftwork.. 😃
Wow, leaf shaped knife? Is there any special shape that can be turned into a knife?
*Safety Squints activated!* :D Gotta love it! well done on the knife!
I like that knife
Great work, you wanna consider griding outside or some airways protection.
Awesome knife sir.
A lot of work for a wall hanger, pretty sloppy.
What was the coating you sprayed on the blank before etching? Looked like paint Great knife by the way, from a maker to another maker.
I literally sit after work and watch these while ☘️🍀🌬️💨 awesomesauce
Que preciosidad 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It is very nice though listen to your viewers man, saftey first. And you said it cuts through metal in the title and named it a knife. Though i dont belive it has the arch along the blade to be considered a knife (no sharp edge) and you didnt show it cutting through... well... anything. But none the less its very nice.
love your squints, where did you get them?
Incredibly! How much could such a knife cost?
