Mosquito trap DIY 8,000 mosquito kill reduce ZIKA DENGUE MALARIA MaxxAir Fan CO2

2024 ж. 20 Мам.

I trapped 8,000 mosquitoes in two nights using our Mosquito trap and adding seltzer water CO2 as an off the shelf attractant. In the summer we clear our property of mosquitoes only to have the wind blow in new mosquitoes from surrounding areas.

  • since each mosquitoe can lay between 100 and 300 eggs in their lives, you, by taking out 8k mosquitos, actually took 1.2 million mosquitoes from circulation (they lay 300 eggs in a span of at most a 2-3 weeks. in an entire summer you prevented up to 33 million mosquitoes (3 months, average month length of 30 days, mosquitoes laying eggs every 3 days which is about the fastest they can go) .... 33 million mosquitoes less in one single summer, thats quite nice! if each house in a block did this, couting as having 15 houses in a block, in one whole summer, almost 500,000 million mosquitoes do no spring up from those 8k originals per house... not if each night you get 8 k.... yeah, this is a great method

    • @@mrwendigo3374 I looked into it further, and you can place dragon fly larvae into nearby stagnant water to devour the mosquito at the larval stage. Scientists are currently working out how to attack the Egg stage. But we still have the Pupa stage to hit as well, perhaps Ivermectin can be weaponized to do so more directly. Maybe there are intermediary stages that the current mosquito evolution skipped that we can grandfather in and then attack with an evironment of mutually shared mosquito annihilation.

  • 4:55 The circle of life. I've got a mosquito problem where I live, lots of vacant homes and unkept yards. I've scouted for standing water, not found anything, but maybe they are breeding under leaves or even inside a vacant home - one has a large hole in the roof, no telling how much water is inside, if it's pooling. The mosquitoes do seem to emanate from that side of the property, and they are quite overwhelming. I plan to try this trap, I've only got a Lasko 20" box fan, but at minimum, I can blow filtered air directly where I'm working and maybe dilute the CO2 attractant and trap the ones that would be flying towards me. This contradicts your outdoor event tip of blowing away from people, but I think that would be suited for higher powered fan *s* emphasis on plurality. I'll experiment a little, but this is a fantastic idea!

A bottle of propane every 20-22 days plus attractant isn’t cheap. I’ve left it outside in the rain for 2-3 weeks and the rain hasn’t hurt it. I don’t get piles like this but I don’t get bit anymore so I know it works.

    • Actually, not long, it begins to degrade right away. When you mix it with warm water, it begins to "come alive" and from then on, you have to use it, because it will begin to fall in a very short time. That's why when you make bread, you get the yeast ready first, to make sure it's still good, and when it bubbles, you need to use it to make the bread and get It in the oven. You can make something called a "mother" which you continue to add to it, but it stays in the refrigerator until you use some, and then add to it to keep it going, but that too starts to degrade once it's warmed up and is used. Sugar or not, it will degrade quickly. Hope that helps.

      @Sheila6325@Sheila63256 жыл бұрын
    • Unrefrigerated sourdough "mother" can last forever, with some batches being traced back over 100 years, but it has to be fed flour and water all the time to keep it alive. A person would end up with buckets-full of the stuff if none of it was ever actually used up. Not to mention that even "cheap" flour gets expensive when it's constantly used.
