Number 10 doesn't belong on embarrassing goalie moments, more of great moments in horrible timing Also, with the way he fields, catches and plays the puck, Toskala would make a great member of the New York Mets

***** Have you ever played goalie before? If you're hit in the right spot, it hurts more than anything in the world to catch a puck, even if you're wearing a glove. If he tried to stop it without a glove, he would've broken his hand.

Not sure why #10 wasn't just blown dead when the goalie lost his glove like the play is when they lose their helmet.. guess it must be easy for goalies to glove it with their bare hand. That would've been something! Poor Toskala.. twice on this list.

yes it is a very weird rule and it actually happened to Mike Smith in the Conference Finals against the Kings IN OVERTIME two years ago in 2012 (there wasn't a goal tho) but in the rule book it says that play will continue if they lose a glove... very strange rule

Dan Cloutier from the 2002 playoffs when Lidstrom scored on him from centre ice. Not only was it a bad goal, but it was the turning point in that series, Vancouver had the Wings on their heels and then that happened, the Wings won the series and eventually the Cup.

#10 is a penalty. This MAY be the goalie bias, but if an equipment is off, play is stopped. Bonus: since it was the same guy who scored, not only should the goal be disallowed, a trip to the penalty box should be made. And, for those of you who insist it was an accident, if you accidentally trip, slash, and/or hook someone, you go to the box; the sin-bin. Think about it.

@trentlaveson94519 жыл бұрын
That only happens with the helmet
@brianmurchie74049 жыл бұрын
Brian Murchie And back then, I don't even think losing the helmet was an automatic stoppage. For several years the rule reads that if there is "an immediate and impending scoring chance" the play is permitted to resolve (save, goal, or change of possession) before blowing the play dead. But I am not sure when that language was first used. Old rulebooks are hard to come by. Andy Brown was the last goalie to play an NHL game helmetless, in 1974... between then and now, the rule about a goalie losing his helmet was written but I can't find when. (Technically there isn't a rule requiring a goalie mask, either - just the helmet rule which applies to all players. In theory a goalie could play with just a player helmet, no cage - but even goalies aren't that crazy.)
@nightfly0169 жыл бұрын
+Joe Schmoe helmet only, and roman left the crease... but it still shouldn't be on here, had he not been distracted by someone pulling his glove off illegally, that puck would have never went in

Stop hating toskala! He had a very respectable career. He was a good goalie in San Jose. He just became the third wheel between kipper and Nabokov. It's no his fault he got stuck with the leafs. And I'm a leafs fan! Goalie make mistakes. I don't know why I'm watching this video even, cuz I'm a goaltender and all this does is make me cringe. I've made a few mistakes just like these. On time I went to just sweep the puck away into the corner. But totally misse it and gave it to the opposition. Doesn't mean I'm a bad goaltender though. Just a mistake

@drewgalante4729 жыл бұрын
i don't see the difference between an embarrassment and something you laugh about, like people laugh at embarrassments all the time
@xbabex13xhot9 жыл бұрын
not really embarrassing. stuff like this happens, anybody who's done a sport for at least a few years knows that we're all just human and even the best of us make mistakes at times. not to mention the fact that a goalie's mistake is always more costly, so the pressure they play under can't be even compared to the other guys on the ice most of the time.
@d3laiah10 жыл бұрын
When I was in the 6th grade I was playing floor hockey with my class for p.e and the goalie threw puck at me (I was standing fairly close to the net) but guess what I did, I shot, scored. Gave the other team a goal. Lol my team was so mad at me

The Islander on Toskala (who's caught sleeping twice on this list) reminds me of the 2002 olympics upset of Belarus over Sweden when Tommy Salo was hit with a puck on the head from the blue line before it found it's way in...that ought to be on this list.

In terms of weirdness, Brodeur’s gaffe is definitely #1. But if we’re talking about impact, then either Patrick Roy’s gaffe, and Dan Cloutier and Roman Turek’s center ice fails are worse. Brodeur’s was weird, but it didn’t significantly impact the series because the Devils still won in the end. It probably affected the course of it, as the Devils could have ended the series earlier instead of going all 7 games, but in the grand scheme of things, the Devils still won, so it ultimately didn’t matter too much. Roy, Cloutier and Turek’s mistakes all cost their teams their respective series. In the case of Roy, the Avalanche were up 3 games to 2 but weren’t able to score in either Game 6 or 7. So Roy’s showboating was the game winning goal of that game, and he laid an absolute egg in the next game to choke away the series. Cloutier’s had the Canucks up on the President’s Trophy winning Red Wings 2-0 (ironically the exact same team that Roy fucked up against), and that goal completely changed the series’ momentum. The Wings won the next 4. And Turek’s... granted Owen Nolan’s shot was probably the greatest shot ever taken, so it’s not entirely his fault. But the Blues were the President’s Trophy winners that year, and this came in Game 7. It was the game winning goal in that game, and by extension, the series winning goal. So Brodeur’s was outright weird, but Roy, Turek and Cloutier blew it for their teams.

On Number 10, isn't play supposed to be immediately called dead when the goalie looses a peace of equipment?
@Branflakes15229 жыл бұрын
Now yes if you lose any equipment I believe in that time it wasn't the case.
@brandonbaker5369 жыл бұрын
Nope, only if your mask comes off.
@TriGamesHD9 жыл бұрын
Play Bomb yeah then it was only the mask, however I think now play stops with the glove coming off. Dubnyks glove had gotten pulled off by accident and play was called dead.
@brandonbaker5369 жыл бұрын
I've only seen cases with the helmet. When a goalie loses his helmet he is in danger of injury so they blow the play dead. I don't know if that's the case with other equipment but I know for sure that if the goalie loses a stick, play continues. I've seen it happen like once a game
@gotmusic09159 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say, but I have seen many cases in other leagues that the play would continue even after the goalie has lost their glove. But in Dubnyk's case, I think that he might not have had enough time to get the glove back on but then again, I have seen other goalies stop a puck with out a glove so it's quite controversial. If however, the player deliberately pulls the glove off the goalie then it will be an automatic inference call so it depends on the situation really.

wish there was a video of Ron Loustel getting scored on 10 times in his only NHL game
Goalies worst nightmare.
This video just solidifies how shitty the leafs have been in the last 15 years
***** it's vesa toskala
Yeah get it right you fool
+strojny1998 he doesn't deserve to have his name remembered properly.
Hey X
Lmao so true
After letting in a very shitty goal myself in a game this video makes me feel better
yes, even the pros make mistakes sometimes. don't worry about it
+Brendan Fosgitt the patrick roy thing happened to me once. I was playing with my friends on the street and i made a really good save with my glove and i got excited and i showed my glove and i dropped it. wow it stunk
+Oopsi! Tube yeah I made that mistake I got cocky but we won 7-2
Erik Hellenbrandt dubnyk did that In the playoffs last year against the stars and it lost him the game
Lord Xeen Have you lived it down yet
"What if Toskala could stop pucks? History will be made."
Probably not he looks really bad
+X EvilCupcakeOverLord X Ya know kidding!
Dave Clark I feel ashamed to be finnish XD
lol idk
he only had a .900 sv percent, he was bad, more than a couple of bounces
Some of the best goalies are shown in this video, Tim Thomas, Martin Brodeur, Patrick Roy. Goes to show even the best make mistakes.
thanks captain obvious
ike1218CA No problem, hater.
hahahah did you really put Tim Thomas along with Martin Brodeur and Patrick Roy ?
lol! Tim Thomas??? hahahahahahahahahahha!!! that is hilarious!
Tim Thomas was a beast back in 2011. But now...
#9 " I GOT IT" drops the puck always humors me
"I GOT IT GUYS!!!" *drops it* "shit... WASNT ME!"
Number 10 doesn't belong on embarrassing goalie moments, more of great moments in horrible timing Also, with the way he fields, catches and plays the puck, Toskala would make a great member of the New York Mets
***** Valid point Jimi
***** Have you ever played goalie before? If you're hit in the right spot, it hurts more than anything in the world to catch a puck, even if you're wearing a glove. If he tried to stop it without a glove, he would've broken his hand.
This whole top ten could be filled with Maple Leafs goalies.
Search up top ten worse maple leaf goals allowed
salozmen29 how
Not sure why #10 wasn't just blown dead when the goalie lost his glove like the play is when they lose their helmet.. guess it must be easy for goalies to glove it with their bare hand. That would've been something! Poor Toskala.. twice on this list.
Yeah...
yes it is a very weird rule and it actually happened to Mike Smith in the Conference Finals against the Kings IN OVERTIME two years ago in 2012 (there wasn't a goal tho) but in the rule book it says that play will continue if they lose a glove... very strange rule
Garrett Sparks of the Toronto Marlies (AHL) made a save with his bare hand after losing his glove in a playoff game. just saying it happened lol
Martin Brodeur is the best goalie of all time but makes the number one spot on here lol
I agree.martin brodeur is my favourite goalie.but look at this😂
Dominik Hasek and him are pretty close
Not all legends make mistakes. But when they do, it's usually no. 1
Good thing he won that years cup.
no hes not
Toskala was the worst goalie in NHL history he sucked so bad.
Just because he made one mistake it doesnt mean he's terrible. He made it to the NHL for a reason.
***** ...he was in two of these clips.
toskala was in 2 of these clips and if u ever watched the leafs growing up when toskala was on them..... i did toronto is my hometown u would realize he made a lot more mistakes then just this. look it up.
nah
who worse?
LOL on Toskala.
Dan Cloutier from the 2002 playoffs when Lidstrom scored on him from centre ice. Not only was it a bad goal, but it was the turning point in that series, Vancouver had the Wings on their heels and then that happened, the Wings won the series and eventually the Cup.
I always though Cloutier was one of the worst goalies to put on a sweater...... that's only MY opinion!!
getdusty1 Your opinion is a very valid one! lol
Think about it.
maybe back in that game that rules were different? That game was from 2003 playoffs or something close to that
Yes
Giuliano Di Staulo true
Giuliano Di Staulo there's only a whistle when the goalies helmet comes off
Aidan, that's because you've never seen a trapper or blocker come off, other than at that moment. Trust me, if equipment comes off (the helmet's no different), there's a whistle, and play stops
To be honest number 9 is more stupidty than it is a mistake. If he didn't unecessarily showboat it wouldn't have gone in.
ya and he was in the crees so it di not cawnt
renee mcdonald was that english?
It's Patrick Roy. It's what he does. Just look up 'Patrick Roy rings in my ears'.
+Cory Baxter For all Patrick Roy's success he would always give the other team 1 really good scoring opportunity a game by doing something stupid with the puck.
How was he show boating?
I really loved the on screen graphics and score display that Fox Sports used from 2003 or 2004 to 2008.
the first goal wasn't the goalies fault
Yes his glove was off lost his focus wasn’t tht bad more of a mistake then a bad goal
Makes you feel so bad for the goalies..
Not really! Lots of them are dicks
I could never find #1 in good quality! Thx for this!
#10 just reminded me how much I miss Gary Thorne and Bill Clement calling the NHL.
We can probably replace one of these with Ben Bishops Game 5 finals blunder.
xD cuz of him they lost th cup.
+Bernie Peterson Shit yeah... When he did a check to his own defenceman...
We all make mistakes, it only sucks when everyone is watching while it happens.
I love how Brodeur laughs at the goal against him.
that was the best thx for that great vid and this year wings are going all the way
The first goal shown shouldnt of coutned. The goalies equipement fell off which means the ref calls a whistle and theirs a faceoff in the offensive zone....
That only happens with the helmet
You sound like a good ol fashion Tim Thomas...
Thats what this video is. Its not here to call these goalies bad. Its here to point out their biggest mistakes. By your logic, marty brodeur is the worst goalie in the nhl because he is #1 in this video
totally agree! im a goaltender aswell. i play aaa bantam. we all make mistakes
Thank you for putting the Ivan majetski goal on!
I hate how when a goalie makes a mistake its an "Embarrassment" but when a player misses a wide open net its something you laugh about.
i don't see the difference between an embarrassment and something you laugh about, like people laugh at embarrassments all the time
not really embarrassing. stuff like this happens, anybody who's done a sport for at least a few years knows that we're all just human and even the best of us make mistakes at times. not to mention the fact that a goalie's mistake is always more costly, so the pressure they play under can't be even compared to the other guys on the ice most of the time.
When I was in the 6th grade I was playing floor hockey with my class for p.e and the goalie threw puck at me (I was standing fairly close to the net) but guess what I did, I shot, scored. Gave the other team a goal. Lol my team was so mad at me
Lol just watching this again, I realized that the commentator said "...a lot of problems with the Bruin's defenses." as soon as Tim Thomas fails to stop a slow moving puck.
Watching these videos help with some of the odd doozies I've let by in my leagues.
#2 in my opinion is the defense fault not the goalies fault.
The Islander on Toskala (who's caught sleeping twice on this list) reminds me of the 2002 olympics upset of Belarus over Sweden when Tommy Salo was hit with a puck on the head from the blue line before it found it's way in...that ought to be on this list.
Hey Belarus is really good now that Cat Pusic plays for them.
Lol number 8 looks like Kevin from the office when he spills his chili all over the floor
number 10 was th refs fault he lost the glove so blow the whistle or wave of the goal
a timbit goalie can play better than toskala!
Toskala was not a bad goalie, every goalie has those terrible moments, and toronto that season wouldnt of been good even if they had someone like Brodeur
Bryce Dubé ok but they even said in the vid he has the worst S% and he has the most fails
Anders Lindback could play better than Toskala.
Ouch.
I love how the commentators (I hope that's what they are called or else I wold look stupid) are talking about one thing but as soon as the goal was made they suddenly change to "WOAH!!"
Coming from a wings fan I’ll never forget the Patrick Roy Statue of Liberty goal 🤣🤣
OMG # First shot was a bacon snipe
LOL
he should have played aggersive goalie on that
cechmanek was PRETTY GOOD on that one
2 of the embarassing moments were from toskala
Well, good to know that even stars make mistakes like that. Its a kind of motivation for myself to don't stop trying after goals like that and continue to be in that game
Later in the game shown in #7, Pens goalie Sebastian Caron made a glove save on a rebound that Canada's SportsCentre once ranked the best save ever. (Not sure about that but it was a hell of a stop.)
On Number 10, isn't play supposed to be immediately called dead when the goalie looses a peace of equipment?
Now yes if you lose any equipment I believe in that time it wasn't the case.
Nope, only if your mask comes off.
Play Bomb yeah then it was only the mask, however I think now play stops with the glove coming off. Dubnyks glove had gotten pulled off by accident and play was called dead.
I've only seen cases with the helmet. When a goalie loses his helmet he is in danger of injury so they blow the play dead. I don't know if that's the case with other equipment but I know for sure that if the goalie loses a stick, play continues. I've seen it happen like once a game
What was Roy doing
Being Roy. Not exactly the most modest person ever, look up Roy rings in my ear.
+Enderdragon But I got two Stanley Cup rings in my hear. haha haha classic.
YourHomieJesus Roy stopped the puck, put his hand in the air to "show off", And dropped the puck and the Red Wings put it in the open net.
I've seen #9 plenty of times, but for some reason I couldn't stop laughing at Roy this time!!!
Brodeur was amazing, I'll Miss him. We have some good years ahead of us with Schneider though, and Kinkaid. Hope Kinkaid is okay.
So, four years later .... How's that working out for ya??
Oh...my...gosh is right. :o
Can I watch a hockey game with you?
Stephen Jones Stephen Jones you fucboi stick to p hub.
Oh, Thomas......glad to hear from another wonderful, positive, uplifting human being...have a good life.....
He is pissed you beat him to the question
My apologies for an ignant comment from a year ago ahaha
Man Toskala really sucks, He has to work on the glove & his butterfly's too
He's been retired since 2012 tho
What's wrong with his butterfly?
NICE VID MAN
Ugh, the "Statue of Liberty" goal still haunts Avs fans to this day. They lost the Cup on that play. They were up 3-2 in that series and were such a good team. If they'd have gotten by the Wings, it would have been back-to-back Cups because Carolina wasn't going to stop them.
10. Eh, not entirely his fault, just bad luck really 9. oooh...thats pretty bad. what you get for being cocky 8. shit, gotta hold onto it man 7. What I love about that is how nobody even fucking noticed except the commentators LOL GO PENS! 6. ...I think I would have just walked out at that point, that hurt my soul 5. ...again Toskala??...YOUR HERE AGAIN??? TWICE!? NO WONDER YOU GOT BENCHED! 4. Lucky bounce?! NO! CARON MOVED OUT OF THE WAY!!! WTF?! Why did we keep you for so long and bounce you back and forth between NHL and AHL? We shoulda just dumped your ass to begin with 3. I don't know wtf happened on that one, seriously, the 2 defenders should have intercepted it pretty easily, but the goalie missed it too? apparently that puck was magic 2. eeeeh wasn't a good idea to pass to him, but honestly thats more of an error on Smith's part for bad puck handling I think. 1. once again, that is just really bad luck lol, sorry Brodeur shit happens
2016 Steve Mason
how did u get such good quality? its great!
nice compilation.
Oh Toskala.... what are we gonna do with you.
2:16 Bishop did that two times vs Montreal in the TBL-MTL Playoff Series. What a loser lol
Tommy Sandal but Montreal didn't make t, so you shouldn't be talking shit.
Elliot awesp,e Apparently Montreal didn't make a "t" so I shouldn't be talking shit? C'mon man
FInals. i was typing it. you know what i meant.
Elliot awesp,e But Tampa is only have one cup. montreal has 24 so check your facts before saying that I can't say shit! And Bishop only looked good cause of the posts!!
Thats true, but montreal 's playioff season was way worse, and carey price has made so many mistakes like letting soft pucks in, and handling, etc.
Finland has always had many good goalies, but Vesa Toskala... Every time he was playing, you knew something worth of laugh would happen
As a Kings fan, I must say that Jonathan Quick is going to be on the 2011-2020 list a few times. He's good for allowing one or two WTF goals a year.
Toskala is one of the worst goalies ever, in any top league, I still wonder how the hell he ever got into the NHL.
the water sip of shame lmao
BAHAHAH THE ONE WITH THE GOALIE AWAY FROM THE GOAL IM CRYING XD
I was playing floor hockey in PE and this kid was already doing horrible in goal, and this other kid scored a hat trick on him by trying to dump it from "full court" (about 30ft out, we play half court) and everyone was a mix of cheering and laughing
Pavelec will be #1 in the next decade. Team comes back from a 4-1 deficit and allows a goal from centre with a minute left in regulation when the Jets were in a close playoff race.
My day was made when I saw Toskala in the countdown again XD
Caron has arguably the best save of all time yet also ends up on this list. Crazy
do you have any updated version of this?
I feel sorry for Cechmanek, they took his glove of, there was not much he could do when the shot was going on the glove side. Did you ever tried to stop a speeding puck with bare hand?
I think you should keep the vids going and add rask' mess up in the playoffs against the rangers
I like how in the Jaroslav Halak vid they played the fucking circus theme
It was always nice to see Patrick Roy make an ass of himself. It made me smile.
I like how when Roy makes a mistake it is only after 2 incredible saves.
I like how the number one embarrassment is also from perhaps the number one, or at least one of the top goalies in the NHL ever.
All of these goals are painful to watch. As a blues fan I still find that halak goal hilarious. I'm mean a two stroke penalty, brilliant.
probably about 250 different goalies who played between 2000 and 2010, approximately 21870 games + playoffs. And two of their most embarassing mometns are owned by Vesa Toskala... man that was a hard time being a Leafs fan
this videos title should be "Vesa Toskala Career highlights"
I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life..
Best thing about Nittymaki goal was Hitchcock postgame: "Coach he looked like he wasn't paying attention." Hitch: "No shit!"
Nice list. Glad to see Toronto only made it on the list once. LOL.
true , good thing the hawks have good defense, other wise we probably wouldn't have won the cup. Besides both Crawford and Rask had some embrassing moments during the playoffs ( Crow vs Det, Rask vs NYR)
During the game with Antero Niittymäki's clip, Sébastien Caron wasn't the starter.. he was credited with the best save of all time.
a lot of the goalies from tsn's top 10 saves list are on here
Ah Marty, I remember that one. I honestly still blink when I watch it.
I think he was referring to the Caron save (on Brian Savage, for the record) and the Niittymaki fluke.
I don't know what's more embarrassing. The Rob Davidson goal in #5 or the fact that was the only goal the Isles scored that game and lost 3-1.
Number 1 Martin Broader was a obvois. Im a huge devs fan and I've been looking at that goal. At least they won that final
The problem is that forwards in almost every team sport aren't criticized as much as defensive player. Also when looking at good players most people would say a forward because they score most of the goals.
the funny thing is that jersey still won the cup after that fail
Tasp -A
I'm so glad you commented "lol", now we all know you laughed!
The one time my friend (who's a goalie) tore his groin in the middle of a game, but kept playing, and then he let in a goal from center ice.
Devils won the cup in 03. Brodeur had three shutouts in the finals against Anaheim. Last season he was at the finals again. Honestly he can play for at least a few more years.
