@jameslachance7353 No, they didn't. I know you're a Dan fan but they have other great analysts. Dan should have not crossed the line. He suffered the consequences. He's the one who dropped the ball. UFC didn't lose a thing while he lost a good paying job. Can't be biased just because you like somebody. Dan shouldn't have taken it for granted. Dana even warned him after the ref scandal.
@@ApexPunisherX man I think he does a better job than many of their current analysts. Like I like Bisping a lot, but as an analyst there's leagues between them.
It worked out for the best for both Dan and the UFC, he isn't handcuffed anymore and has been able to reach a wider audience now he has artistic freedom.

Awesome show. Always a pleasure hearing the great chemistry between the power couple.👊😄 I also think Islam gets it done ITD this time around. Volk on short notice against a prepared Islam is going to be hell for him. I really like Veronica's angle on Usman/Chimaev fight, mentioning Usman taking fight on short notice being a possible blessing against a mad man like Khamzat.

When doing long-form main card breakdowns like this, I think it would be beneficial to show each fighter's victory stats alongside their records. E.g. 10 KO/TKO, 4 Subs, 8 Decisions. It really helps provide another analytical layer to the potential outcome of the fight. There's only a couple channels that tend to include these stats, and I have always enjoyed the inclusion of them, especially when it comes to the particular fights I plan on possibly placing a bet on. Not sure how much additional work that would entail, but it seems like it would be fairly easy to edit that in. Just a suggestion. Either way, keep up the great work you two. Really appreciate you sharing these breakdowns with us!

Would LOVE your thoughts Dan. I HATE the UFC scoring for grappling I don’t know why they use bjj not wrestling scoring for ground work. If you get a dominant position like Islam did round 4, but do nothing with it, in NCAA wrestling any pts you get for the control get taken away again for stalling so it’s neutral, if volk then reversed (like r3 for example) he actually gets +2 points from the exchange if Islam stalls. It feels the same to me as rewarding a striker for running away for 5 mins refusing to engage (look at his defence he didn’t get hit!). If the grappler is landing shots, fair his round, if he’s going for submissions, fair his round. But if he does nothing it’s the other dudes round.

credit where due. I wasn't sure about Dan+V's future, thought I might stop watching these, gave it one last shot, then saw hopeful signs of improvement, which warranted another shot, and now my outlawed faith has been restored. Dunno if it's their inner competitor shining through or not, but many of the criticisms that I levied at Veronica, no longer seem to apply, and Dan has actually epitomized them more so in the last two episodes. Mental judo/tai chi. He mighta been Hangry in this one, or V's head kick had him moody than a MFer. Sure he was a bit short/grumpy/sensitive, but he was more forgetful than usual as well. Off day, poor sleep, or kicked head, you be the judge. Veronicas comedy contributions were definitely on point. There were a few things i'd wished had been present, but the only one I can remember off the top of my head was that Volk has nothing to lose narrative. Ya'll barely said that, it seems more prevalent in MMA media, but to me, Volk losing this means that he doesn't get a third fight with islam, meaning he potentially never becomes double champ, which he desperately wants, potentially never becomes P4P #1 again, which he desperately wants, and loses much of that potential GOAT status since someone in his era had his number and won in their rivalry. However, a fully healed from surgery Volk, full camp, with a higher fight IQ than letting his ego get the better of him (talking to islams corner, not fighting the body triangle out of submission concern due to islams reputation, and ground and pounding islam in the 5th when he needed to finish him and had him gassed since the 4th, shoulda let him up) then Volk definitely has the better chance to improve weaknesses whereas Islam already fought soundly and didn't run away with it. But given the current state of affairs, Volk is sacrificing that for a chance that he would have certainly gotten anyway if he beats topuria. High risk, to an equal reward. Granted the respect earned of the short notice acceptance, but again, what will people remember more and what will build more legacy, losing plus short notice big balls, or winning plus already having big enough balls to go up and fight the dagestani boogie man. Volk definitely has a lot to lose, I'd argue more than Islam, considering a trilogy awaits Islam even if he loses. Volk won the war, Islam won the battle - intelligently out pointing Volk and never losing his composure. A blind person could see that had we bent the rules, and let them keep fighting after the 5th, no time limit, that Volk wins that 95% of the time. But that is not the name of the game, nor what they signed up or strategized for. New features I appreciate: ya'll streamlined the episodes by removing the lesser fights in some of the early prelims and prelims but still covered great fights from those. Also, the lack of sponsor advertisements or reduction is much appreciated. Veronica, random advice you should probably ignore since idk shit. Partner with someone that regularly beats the dogshit out of you and watch yourself exponentially improve. You two are already a great team. Skies the limit. Your growth in multiple facets on this podcast alone, shows that you can truly improve over time to a notable degree. The same is then assumed of your fighting ability. Training with Rose, Valentina, Zhang, or a few others, especially if they have a size advantage (for multiple physical and psychological benefits) wouldnt necessarily be guaranteed or easy to come by, perhaps, but so worthwhile to your bulletproofing mentality and skill breakthrough. Maybe such ideas are impossible, idk, but it's just a thought. take care

I feel like Warley Alvez fights to the level of his opponent. Although I heard Colby in a rare interview talking about his career & he was actually talking as his real self,he wasn't being his usual character he plays & he wasn't calling Kamaru Usman "Marty Snoozeman" or anything & he was very complimentary of Usman and then he said the only opponent that he was truly afraid of coming into the fight was against Robbie Lawler,& he even admitted regretting that promo he did after that fight makn fun of Matt Hughes and the train track comment,anyway about his fight vs Warley Alvez he said he literally came into that fight KNOWING he was gna lose,I get it that 99% of the time both guys come in a lil fucked up & injured but the camp he had for that fight went worse than even Khabib's camp went vs Justin Gaethje when after I found all the shit that went wrong for Khabib during that fight truly made me realize that Khabib is mentally unbreakable & Colby was even more fucked up vs Warley, if I remember right he had a broken rib, a torn ACL on 1 leg & a torn LCL on his other leg, & he said he almost pulled outta that fight just due to those injuries buy he said he needed the $$ and I guess this was right around the time the UFC was starting to tell him he needs personality and to basically figure his shit out before his contract was up which still had 5-6 fights left on it so he was afraid they'd release him for pulling out but at the same time felt like they'd give up on thinking of him as being a future top title contender and possible champion,he made weight still wondering in his head how he was gna even be able to move at all during the fight let alone win and then after making weight he ate chicken or something but whatever it was gave him food poisoning to the point he was still throwing up and dehydrated as fuck the morning of the fight, so he never rehydrated at all and only dehydrated more but since he only walks around at 182 lbs he doesn't have to dehydrate the fuck outta himself to make weight but ya, now that I wrote a novel about this interview maybe you can find it if u haven't seen it

I hate picking fights cause the fighters i pick usually lose lol but i love Islam and Khamzat since the day they got in the UFC and khabib talked Islam up. I love Alexander the great too but i think like Izzy he is biting more off then he can chew getting a little to greedy. He can still make a huge legacy off of his division and be the goat of that division and one of the mount Rushmore fighters of the UFC it will just be behind Islam and Khabib lol
