Will this 1939 ford try run after being parked over 65 years ago due to a bad head gasket and being left half tore apart with a oil pan half full of water for the past 65 plus years

Because it’s just a bucket of bolts, even a schoolboy or a pennier who doesn’t understand this, the beast is coming, I did this when I was 12 years old, we bought different old cars and repaired them
We repaired them, remade cars with bugs in different countries, and so on. And we just rode on useful roads and then rented them back for twice as much as we bought them and the repairs cost 😁😁😁👍👍👍
The badge in the grill is definitely from Borchers Ford in Dayton Ohio and was made by the Thompson Mfg Co also of Dayton. Borchers was one of the earliest dealers having started in 1903.

Imagine 80 years from now trying this with any modern vehicle with all the unnecessary computer crap. It won't happen.

Apparently while the 1996 F-150 truck does have electronic ignition etc the engine it has originally had a distributor and a carburetor. So you could retrofit those parts onto a relatively new engine. The F-150 (and any other suitable modernized classic engine) will probably be the most modern, running, petrol cars one day!
Just because we don’t have the skills or tools. These things will be more ubiquitous as the future generations get into cars and they will learn their way around these systems/tools will be developed to simplify it. To this day my dad still laments about the loss of carburetors and hates fuel injection. This feeling ain’t new at all

@@nev12345678910 Yup. I am clueless on carbs, except i can replace jets or whatever and flush it etc, but f tuning it. FI to me is just plugging it in and getting a computer box on it and then laptop for the rest (I am an IT Pro so doubt much could confuse me at that point). As for most of the cars today, the worst is the infotainment systems, but those can be dumped for new aftermarket ones, even in 2050+. And i reckon in 2050 most hybrid cars will just be dumped powertrain wise and get a crate electric motor with crate bats and done w that ... or maybe a SBC 350 if allowed.
Unbelievable that after that many years it still wants to run. That’s a cool looking truck that maybe worth some future restoration.

Regarding the logo on the grill, apparently there was a Borchers Ford dealership in Dayton Ohio that opened in 1903 and closed in 1978. When searching I did find one image of another Ford with that logo on the grill.

@@thrinmonI’ve got a question for you. I live in Texas and obviously down here we don’t get anywhere near the ice y’all get. Our state highway department uses a combination of de-icing chemical and sand. Both seem to do the job. Do you know if anything else is used besides salt?

That grille reminds me of my 1939 Ford School bus with a 1953 flathead engine I bought in the '70's.. Always started, too! Went from CA to Nebraska and back in the winter one year! Installed an Onan generator and several heaters onboard, plus several hot water heater units on rubber hoses to keep warm. 20" tires replaced, and the steering was adjusted by pulling down on the front axle, I recall. Adjusted brakes, changed the fluids, cleaned the windows, replaced the windshield wipers, and we were off! Wild ride coming down through the mountains in Utah in the winter. The gears would sing a beautiful song.
I have a picture of my grand parents, dad and sister in the bed of this same truck. If it could be a driver I like to buy if possible. I already know you will get it running.

"Restorations" ain't really the right word...but he does resuscitate them!
I went through a lot of the same things with my 1940 pickup truck to get it running. Dump some of that acetone/atf into the transmission, put it in neutral, put the top on and let the flathead spin the cluster gear a while to get the gear changer working again. That frozen rear drum will be a challenge to get loose. Be sure to film it!
Based on its properties, you can fill it with anything you want; in the fifties we just poured aviation kerosene because acetone was too generous and expensive

Don't know what it is about these metal creations that makes me want to see folks make these machines live again. My first two cars were locked up messes from someones backyard so this is so gratifying to watch!

Great job that I can relate to. I drove a old family farm 52 ford F5 with a-busted block, no brakes and no clutch 50 miles home and installed a 1968 Buick wildcat 430 cid and turbo 400 new bed and cleaned up cab and made 4 heavy loads from Hamilton Ohio to Auburn Alabama moving a corliss steam engine. I passed many other new trucks going up Mt Eagle in "ten Y see" and they could see my load. LOL one trucker followed me to the waffle house to see for himself how an old ford could out pull his new Kenworth. GOOD OL DAYS that was 1973...I ran that truck till the engine gave up in 2023. LOL unloaded it could Smoke 4 nice wheelies from a red light if a vett was near me.

Strangely other than that emblem on the grille, that truck LITERALLY has its IDENTICAL TWIN here in northeastern MinneSNOWta. I literally had to do a triple take when I saw this one and will have to go for a ride in the morning to see if it's gone.

Haven't seen that much water in an engine since I drained the 351C in my old Mustang after hurricane Katrina!
When you were turning it over with the heads off, I noticed 3 valves that were stuck. If you had taken the time and had the knowledge of how to free them up it would have run near perfectly. I have worked on and overhauled more of these Flatheads over the past 52 years than most car enthusiasts have ever seen. These are the toughest little engines that any car manufacture has ever made. I still run one in my hot rod that has NEVER been rebuilt, and it runs PERFECT.
I did free them just didn’t show it a lot goes on that I just don’t film or the videos would be hours long

Borchers Ford was a dealership in the Dayton, Ohio area for decades. I think they were around since the 1920's.
There were 4 stuck valves on the driver's side when you started turning it over. Nothing was said about them and then you put the head back on. Evidently they must have started working because you got the motor running. Nice old Ford. There's still a lot of parts for those old flathead V8s
