Say what you want, but props to this movie for actually making those puppets instead of CGIing them. They look great and getting to see them in the steel is at least partially terrifying.
True that!!! Horror movies + practical effects go together like peanut butter + jelly, and the sooner film studios realize that and stop trying to CGI everything, the better off the film industry will be
I absolutely hated this movie but the production design was impeccable
@@SkuteL opinion.
The only shot of an anamatronic that looked like cgi was the one where Mike tasers the cupcake
@@cadencase5216oh grow up
“We have Jennifer Lawrence at home” is golden.
Peeta at his family's bakery.
She looked more like a young Emily Blunt to me lol
@@jonjonjrfrmcali lois
Savage
@@SydneyScreamI thought she looked like Emily vancamp...the resemblance is uncanny!
“It’s like pong but after every round they hint that the left paddle got molested.” Absolutely nailed it.
disrespectful lol 😂
The animatronics looked sick ngl, i really love when professionals recreate things we see videogames.
I still can’t believe they got the fucking Henson corp to do that. That’s more unbelievable than them making the Deadmau5 helmet.
That's because they built actual robots instead of using CGI.
@@aidanyelsma7762 they make most visual effect creatures and what not. They are the the Frank Welker of movie creatures
That's Henson for you, they've been making amazing practical effects since at least The Labyrinth in the 80's.
Cope
Ok, but for real, answering the question of "how do we get around the animatronics' limited movement capabilities?" by saying "let the cupcake do most of the on-screen killing" was a stroke of genius.
No
@@evanbybee2315 Cmon if you have a murder cupcake use it. In the film making sense obviously.
Wouldn’t it have made more sense to use CGI with the animatronics?
@@LordMoonshadowGaGa Not when it comes to money.
@@LordMoonshadowGaGa On that budget? HELL no
How did nobody asked epic voice guy to say "but hey that's just a theory, a film theory."
Huge missed opportunity!
Right
This was definitely more made for the long time fans of the series. Probably even more so than the Mario movie. Mat Pat's cameo was awesome!
But hey, that's just a theory.
Right !!!! I think it was great. And I literally GASPED when I saw MatPat 😂 I was unfortunately the only one though, because I'm french and nobody knew him here
Mario movie was made for Minions fans with short attention spans.
They did say they deliberately made it for the fans and not the critics or casual viewers, and if the fan reaction showed it was a great movie then they were happy. So far looks like the FnaF community is pretty happy with the result.
better than this five nights is just a pointless jumpscare tatic@@cowtzu
If any puppets or costumes look really good, it’s almost definitely Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
2:52 mike did say that "she only cares about the check she gets from the state" for looking after her
Not a large check if he can't even take care of her with it.
@@LancerX916 Yeah, but I also suspect she has a stable job where Mike kept jumping from place to place.
It can't be a check that big, not like the government actually takes care of kids
@@LadyKattrina84But the point is, the check wouldn't justify paying $2k to some junkies, or hiring an expensive lawyer
There is definitely more to aunt jane. My first theory was that she used to be married to william. It was after mike turned down the position that jane threatened to take abby and mike finally took the job. But i really have nothing to back it up.
I went to see this movie with 3 guys, and I was the only one who had ever really heard of fnaf before. We all enjoyed it 🤷🏻♀️ although I will say, Mike slept a lot 😂
realistic night shift security guard tbh
lol, what?
"But he really does!"
I took my 13 y.o. kid. She liked the movie, but just shook her head at all the sleeping: "He is SO unprofessional! He's not even falling asleep by accident! He's doing it on purpose!" She was so offended; it was hilarious.
Mike does sleep a lot, but his slowly increasing interaction with the children is what makes it worth it. Also, was not expecting Dream Theory to be a main plot point in this movie
Ikr? When I first saw that book, I thought it was Scott taking a dig at MatPat for that “it’s all a dream” theory years ago, but then it actually turned out to be a proper plot point of the film.
Mike's dreams were kind of the only plot point of the movie that proved genuinely interesting.
With the success of all the video game movies this year, we are getting closer to my dream Earthworm Jim movie
Live Action or GTFO
I didn't even know how much I needed that until you just put this idea in my head
Why is it every 10 years or so, earthworm jim pops up for me? But hell yeah, let's go.
Can we get Patrick Warburton and Peter Serafinowicz for this? After seeing The Tick they come to mind immediately.
I feel like if _Earthworm Jim_ ever gets touched again, it's unfortunately just going to get monkey's paw'd into something terrible, especially if they to make it live-action.
They explained the aunt wanted Abby so she’d have an extra avenue of cash via monthly checks from the government. She clearly has money already since she can afford a lawyer and can part with $2000 to hire her own goon squad, Abby’s just a guaranteed way to get a little bit ~more~ money.
LOL anyone who thinks the brillian plan of "step 1: acquire child. step 2: receive government check" is going to turn them a profit is hopped-up on Reagan-era "welfare queen" propaganda and would be sorely disappointed if they tried it. XD
That, and sometimes relatives are just dicks like that.
well done you have successfully explained why that motivation makes no sense whatsoever lmao
@@tjdw5251 greed. Also spite.
@@jacobstaten2366 "Greed" is a terrible motivation for intentionally losing money.
Wait, you're telling me Shaggy became a Scooby Doo villian?!?
He literally lived long e ought to become a villain.
I mean, he was also in Scream.
No. "Obsessed with death" meaning they hunt ghosts...
@@reappermenhe was a villan in a couple things-
maybe I'm weird, but I actually found more interesting seeing Mike in his dream, than waiting for the animatronics to kill the side characters using jumpscares and door locking magic.
I enjoyed this movie
Yeah the game is so simple that they had to find a way to make it palatable for the movie screen. So they did a very good job
@@jasondavis2995 agreed, no actual human would behave like the game character
I feel like they should have just focused on animatronics, looking on the cameras and being hunted down. Just the animatronic parts like the game!
@jasondavis2995 Game is simple but the lore is anything but, 19 books and 11 games worth of lore.
This has to be the quickest honest trailer for a new movie ever, thanks Peacock!
For an Honest Trailer I'm Surprised they didn't cover/poke fun at the surprisingly wholesome momments with the animatronics where Abby Plays & dances with them and most importantly The scene where they're Building a fort together.
Watch the Pitch Meeting
"William Afton, yet another American business owner trying to automate his workforce" 💀
You forgot to mention the amazing movie intro with the 8-bit visuals and creepy but awesome music. Oh, and don't forget the credits where the original song by The Living Tombstone played!
thats not the point of the video
he was definitely right about not paying for peacock
Torrent and file sharing is only illegal in Canada IF THEY CAN PROVE you made money off of it. I'm on about a 22-year hot streak of zero consequences.
Even when I was spooned by my decidedly scary six-and-a-half-foot animatronic bunny, I was still unable to dream of passing my forklift operator test.
0:44 woah, why am I catching stray bullets for being a 36 year old rent payer who knows what FNAF is?
One of Matthew Lillard's first characters on screen was Cereal Killer in Hackers, what a type cast that would turn out to be.
Watched it twice. First with a crowd of fans and later with my cousins, one who knew the lore and one who didn’t. Both times had a lot of fun
That is actually a good point William should have pulled a Sweeney Todd and fed the customers children meat in the pizzas
wow I guess this was the fastest release of an Honest Trailer so far!
It's probably because of the peacock stuff.
Is that a joke? It took like over 10 days. Not the fastest they've done.
The aunt is like a silly Disney villain.
Love the Willy’s Wonderland callout lol. I vote for an Honest Trailer for that movie!!
Yesss
4:14 god I wasn't expecting that game to show up!😂
Not him calling out this man's height 🤣 The animatronics looked amazing but I would never want to be in the same room with one
"We have Jennifer Lawrence at home" That lined killed me lmao
Say: That's just a theory, a GAME THEORY!
“We’ve got Jenifer Lawrence at home” 😂
I found the movie to be pretty good. Not the best, but it'll please most fans, including me. It was definitely made for them first. I love how well the animatronics turned out.
The animatronics were awesome.
I loved it. I am not even an FNAF player, but i really enjoyed it.
The animatronics look too clean, they're supposed to be gross and dirty, they've been there for decades
It's not a horror or video game movie without some plot holes.
Agreed
Cuphead already has an animated series on Netflix, plus Slender got a film a few years ago. The next indie game to get a movie will be Minecraft, or Among Us.
Minecraft has had a movie in the wings for a while No the real answer is bendy
To be fair, adapting a series of resource management games centered around a mentally unstable man's murder spree will always be weird. The story always was, but for a movie? Well, fans knew what they were getting. Looking at it all, it's rather amazing what Scott managed to do with so little.
My kids and their friend are very familiar with FNAF and all loved it.
Pure fan service.... and I love it for being so 💕 Hopefully the sequel gets the Sonic 2 treatment and is based off of the games even more 🙌
Ngl, i liked this movie but not for fan service. I hate fan service without substance - Like the one from Sonic Mania
Yea but without a Madea style wedding scene
@@theceoofeggmansempire5214 Of course, it sucks when there's fanservice for the sake of earning a profit. But this movie, despite its flaws, felt like a true passion project, which is greatly admirable. I also really liked the direction and transitions in many of the shots :)
@@PepperMistAnimations It had actual characters for whom i felt tense & pretty well connected plot Custody subplot just ended badly
Really stoked you did this one. I was looking forward to this movie for ages.
@ Jon Bailey...I had to rewatch the first Five Nights at Feddy's Honest Game Trailer from 9 years ago. You last jump scare was epic 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2:33 Thank you! The real beast of the movie, Aunt Jane also was afflicted by the snooze 🤣
The Nicolas Cage version of this was awesome
Not hard to do well at the box office when there is literally nothing else anyone wants to watch
Per usual, the absolute best of the bestest done w/pure perfection. 😂😂❤❤
3:48-Oh come on, Peacock costs like 4.99 or 5.99. It’s not that expensive.
That Film Theory burn, though... 2:39
They did a fine job with the costumes, and did Jim Henson’s legacy well. I wish he were alive to have seen this.
Shoutouts to the community line at the end.
I love a good ghost story. I read a bunch of the books. They’re like Goosebumps from wish, but there are a few good ones mixed in.
lol, love the game grumps Forklift simulator footage at 1:56
At least MatPat was a waiter here. I'd want him to serve me at a local diner.
that moment Shaggy finally snapped and became a villain that Scooby has to fight.
Out of all the games and books that are in this franchise I would have Jim Henson's Creature Shop build my Animatronics too. Lord knows Scott could afford them. 😂
For a movie that was under 2 hours it sure felt like 3
5:24 GILLIAN JACOBS IN COMMUNITY REFERENCE!!! 🗣️🔥🗣️🔥🗣️🔥
That Yandere Simulator movie probably would be finished before the game.
I hate how right you are
you forgot about how the one doing all of the killing is The Cupcake out of all of animatronics who didn’t even do anything for any of the games, he just sat on Chica’s hand in every game.
Someone hasn't played FNaF 4
Oh yeah… I forgot about Fnaf 4.
Not all but he sure got the most kills
That silhouette chomp death is pretty brutal!
Wished there was a reference to the honest game trailers of FNAF
A return to form for the honest trailer crew, great job
1:31 LMAOOOOO AAAABSSS
madness? THIS! IS! HALLOWEEN!!!
I watched pitch meeting before seeing fnaf and i think that helped. The deep cuts were fabulous we had a blast! It was a nostalgia pizza topped with jim hensen's creature shop amazing work.
That willys wonderland joke was priceless , now where's the honest trailer for it
Please do both Percy Jackson films before the Disney+ series comes out next month.
Ayyyyyye, well, the Second One deserves an ayyyyyye
After about nearly 8 years, we finally got that foreshadowed FNaF movie honest trailers.
Thanks for showing the Matpat clip! I'll probably never watch the movie so it was cool to see that he made a cameo in this
I'm glad you mentioned the nic cage film which seems very VERY similar! That seemed to fly under the radar a bit too
How the hell was I able to watch _three reactions_ without noticing that Shaggy was Afton?
Probably because he's a bit older, has different facial hair, and, most importantly, is wearing glasses. You got Clark Kent'd.
@@MusicoftheDamnedus p 😅😅
And here I thought streaming services were jumping the gun; we’re getting an Honest Trailer for a movie that’s been in theaters for less than two weeks!
That’s because this movie is a day-and-date release with Peacock.
I see
Thanks for the update.
"Charles Unemployment Cheese" The writer deserves a raise for that one!
That last one had me in stiches! XD
I dont know, a Cuphead movie could be pretty awesome in the right hands.
December will be the 40th anniversary of Scarface. Time for the Honest Trailer.
Eventually Hollywood will work its way down the list of available IP until we get a "Pong" movie.
Not gonna lie some of the jump scares in the movie still got me….I still screamed a little
I didn't think it was at all boring. It was pretty amazingly good, way better than I expected
And I appreciated the lack of needless gore. More gore wouldn't have improved it; would have detracted from it and alienated a chunk of the audience. This is one of the best adaptations I've ever seen
Same tbh, i wish the movie was scarier. The rest of things i could've written, i did under this comment section
@@museoftheseaGenuinely can't understand how you think that
Give me the chills with the line "Welcome to PlayPaintChill. You just gained honor +2 for following us ! ".
If we stretch this out for 16 more minutes then we have a film theory. 🤣🤣🤣
4:07 No chance in hell Yandere Simulator is getting a movie. The developer is insufferable and can't even finish one game. Literally the only director insane enough to even go remotely near that is Uwe Boll and he's not in the business of video game adaptations anymore. Well I suppose there's also Bay and Shyamalan too. Now that Bay is out of the Hasbro game, he _does_ need a new IP to exploit but the movie would never get made regardless.
Surprised by the turnaround time on this, the movie only came out last week, though I do suppose it was released on streaming the same day
Say in Antonio Banderas’s voice: “I am a master of the baking. Watch!”
4:11 Wait...an animated Cuphead movie would actually be awesome.
4:43 was that... was that the thing?
Now that it’s out of theatres, do an Honest Trailer for Oppenheimer!
November 21
I was stunned to realize that is Mary Stuart Masterson playing the wicked aunt and utterly gob smacked--not to realize, but to have to be told--that the main villain is Matthew Lillard.
This might be the fastest I've ever seen an Honest Trailer put out for a movie
3:05 ohh nice.
I liked the Cuphead Netflix series. I found it incredibly charming.
4:21 excellent Evangelion reference!
2:46 Mike actually said why: to get that social services check off of her.
I literally fell asleep watching it in the theater
I could've slept, except the theater was filled with kids that never shut the hell up
Or, were you just dreaming that you were asleep in the theater?🤔
There was another movie similar to FNaF, The Banana Splits Movie.
Nice Game Grumps clip. Now I have the Forklift Simulator Sbassbear song stuck in my head
OH MY GOSH "BEAR SCARE STARE"!!! I haven't seen THE GREAT BEAR SCARE in so many years!!!
can we get more HTs for Directors? Spielberg? Spike Lee? Scorcese?
I loved the scene when MatPat says “we are FNAF”
Oh snap! That was Matthew Lillard? I knew he looked familiar. When we we all get so old?! Anyway, this movie had more plot holes than actual scares, but it was fun anyway. I'm looking forward to the sequel where Mike gets arrested for the unexplained murder of his aunt and a bunch of randos at the place where he was literally the only employee.
2:50 I was hoping I'd see The Film Theorists reply to how good of a burn this was somewhere in the comment section...
