  • As someone who works in procurement, I won't be interested if I don't have a breakdown quote. In the same way that a miscalculation costs you money, most of the time lazy calculations cost money to the customer. A breakdown price implies that you took the time to make the numbers and you have done the calculations to reach that number. In that way, it is fair for the supplier and it is fair for the customer.

    • Correct again! Also, if you think that rewiring adds value(or prevents value being removed during sale - generally more than you spent, especially with inflation) then the rewire is practically free as all the electrician has done is take your cash and converted it into equity in an appreciable asset. It's win win.

  • You seem to be pricing pretty low for a data point. Given how error prone they can be. I presume you're also talking about the cable run, but what about endpoint termination? Are you terminating to RJ45, or patch panel? £45 seems a little low for any of this. I'd much rather fit power sockets all day then networking if the cost is lower. Is this due to competition? Sorry.... Lots of questions.

    @Bollockmetwotimes@Bollockmetwotimes Жыл бұрын

    • @@NBundyElectrical Appreciate the response as always lad. Buuut "these aren't my exact prices, but it aint a far off" I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, nor hopefully seen as tekkin' piss.... £45 (or whatever is close these days) is very low. I've just done my house out in CAT6, and it takes me about three times as long as it would to do a power socket per ethernet socket. Even if its a dual port, you still have to punch down two cables, so in total 16 wires then need to be done perfectly to get 1Gbps. Now I aint saying charge £135, but £45 (or close to) is low. I would put ethernet ports at about £80 each.

  • Are you allowed 2 electric showers in the same house? One sparky told me it wasn’t allowed. Happy to hear peoples thoughts!

    @lodgicboii@lodgicboii Жыл бұрын
    • Yes, it's allowed - however you need a sufficient incoming supply. In the UK most houses have a single phase, 60-100A service at 230V (230*60 = 13,800W/13.8KW, 230*100 = 23,000/23KW). An electric shower uses around 10KW of a concurrent draw, if you were to run two at the same time you'd be looking at concurrent draw of 20KW, that's not even considering the maximum potential draw etc. The way to get a bigger incoming supply would be to talk to the DNO (district network operator) and request an upgrade to 3-phase - the cost of this will vary, depending on several factors.
