Paris police evict hundreds of migrants from camp ahead of Olympics | BBC News

2024 ж. 16 Сәу.
65 809 Рет қаралды

French police have removed hundreds of migrants from a camp in Paris as part of an operation to prepare the capital for hosting the 2024 Olympic Games.
The camp in Vitry-sur-Seine was home to more than 400 migrants before police carried out a large-scale eviction.
Authorities say the squat was illegal, as they push to dismantle homeless and migrant camps ahead of the Games, but aid workers fear that those evicted now lack longer-term housing assistance.

  • I went to a barbershop close to me and the guy cutting my hair told me about his journey across Europe through France to the UK. Much to the discomfort of the other barbers in there. He also told me how he got hit by a French policeman and suffered an injury. He was offered a French passport to resolve the case which he declined and then managed to get over to the UK on a boat. He was laughing as he was telling me about them all drinking on the boat crossing the channel. He was then complaining about wanting to go home for a holiday but had to wait until his citizenship to come through. Probably a lot of people out there who desperately need somewhere to go. The guy cutting my hair was definitely not one of them and I bet anything there are so many in a similar position to him. Can’t see what could be done to mitigate this.

Also if you think about it, how can you allow all these people into the country if they know they're going to be homelesss here? surely that is against their human rights? Maybe whats best for everyones human rights is if we stick to the law and enter the country LEGALLY and the correct way!

They oppose raising taxes under any name such as 'Carbon tax' or 'Beer tax' or 'climate change'. - The Canadian government now spends more ($54.1 billion) on debt interest while the health-care budget is $52.1 billion! - Canadians are using credit cards more, as there was a 10% increase in their debt in 2023 compared to the last year! - Instead of rising taxes and gas prices, export clean Canadian natural gas to the EU and prevent China and India and Eu and Iran's regime from burning Mazut and coal. Stop arsonists from burning the forests. Last Year Canada got %20 of global forest fires!

  • Human RIGHTS should only be for people who are born in that country, NOT people who make their own way to a place at their own risk by paying someone else for getting them in to that country, that’s trafficking so human rights should not suddenly apply to people who arrive in a place and sleep rough, neither should they be legally entitled to accommodation it’s not that places duty to home them, yes give them a meal and stuff but that’s where it should stop. If the HUMAN RIGHTS groups are so concerned then may be they should pay for the people being transported at huge cost to them and their families and also pay for them to live in accommodation or get it built,they represent HUMAN RUGHTS so may be that should come under their remit and that should apply all over the world, and when migrants break laws or cause trouble the person who got them in to the country and accommodation should be liable as well as the migrants and face punishment

  • Well that’s racist. Right? Or is the Olympics important to someone making money from it?

    @muckraker7942@muckraker794213 күн бұрын
    • In what way is it racist? So, no, wrong. Uninvited people who've entered the country illegally and decided to stay in an area needed for the Olympics don't get a say in this. Moving them isn't racist - if they were real French people they would still be told to find somewhere else to sleep. Just because people are not willing to lick the boots of illegal immigrants or economic migrants (pretending to be refugees) does not make a person racist. It just means they're not a pushover, doormat, future victim or clueless snowflake.

  • These human rights groups should open their homes to these people if they dont want them to be evicted on the streets and placed into temporary shelter. The hypocrisy of some organization is breathtaking. If the government stops them from coming in because there are no more budget to take them in properly and provide them shelter the human rights complain about it, if the government removes them from the streets they also complain then why dont they do the talk and open their own homes.

  • Is there human trafficking involved? Please review UN protocols against Human trafficking. These are migrants from other countries. Review Article #4 of the UN Human Right. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 by Eleanor Roosevelt adopted in 1948. The legality especiallly in France is just about right. They are doing righteousness.
