Donut Media is at the center of digital media for the next generation of automotive and motorsports enthusiasts. We are drivers, drifters, and car enthusiasts who love to tell stories.
I am not sure why this series was discontinued in Donut. I mean I love donut media's content that they are pushing out (Shout out to Donut media team) but I have been missing these episodes which discusses and teaches these important topics of automotive world. Would really love to see these back in the channel.
His jokes and puns are super cringey and many other channels already do this type of car science content
Bart was fired from Donut media, don't know much about the drama. I love these videos, they are fun and Bart has a unique style as the host.
@@Makaya9s what other channels would you say have good car science videos?
Because the average person is too stupid and doesn't have the attention span for this type of content.
He always talked bad about donut lmao

What about Gordon Ramsey calling someone a "donut" That is great!!
As a geologist I've never been so proud of Donut for acknowledging oil comes from algae and plankton and not "dinosaurs" 👍
Thank you! It drives me nuts when ppl pushing an agenda (EV'S)claim its only from dinosaurs!!
Dear Everyone: Especially the first 40+ comments. We have no idea what you're talking about. *See title.

Awesome vid, always wondered about the differences between the two.👌 Never got a good explanation about it except from you guys.☺️
Phenomenal show! No engineer experience or mechanic training outside of being a bad self backyard mechanic. These videos are incredibly easy to understand and Donut is an engaging speaker ( better than any of my medical school profs). For anyone curious how cars work this series is a 10/10.

Excellent video. Great editing, transitions and graphics. I found it to be enjoyable & edifying. Very good work. Keep it up. Strictly synthetic oil for my car from this day forth.

@@WelcomeToTheMadness had no idea youtubers were obligated to comment on every car channel
craze09 here is a better observation. Is it that I’m commenting that’s the issue? Or is it that people like the comment? Which is then followed by, if I’m on a bunch of videos and you’re on a bunch of videos noticing that I’m commenting on them. What issue do you have, am I not allowed to watch the same videos? Or is my commenting on the video which it’s designed for the issue?
Okay you and I watch the same videos, I see you in the comments of every single vid I watch lol
I'm from another OUNTRY, and on this ONTINENT we say ONVENTIONAL. Because it's easier to drop the C. You might say it's ONVENIENT.
ERTAINLY!
Same here! We also say ountry, ontinent and onventional as well all beause!
Thanks Bart. You explained the viscosity ratings at certain temperatures way better than my teacher when i became a mechanic 5 years ago. Greetings from Germany
Hi - I really like this video - you've spelled out the differences between conventional and synthetic oils in a format that's entertaining & easy for anyone to understand. I've been using synthetic motor oil for a couple of decades - it's well worth the extra cost. My three highest mileage cars had 240,000 mi ('03 Durango), 303,000 mi ('95 Grand Cherokee) and 362,000 mi ('70 Olds 442) when I sold them - all were still running well when sold.
Donut's new engine oil, Onventional. With secret Donut technology, its better than competing brands at a lower price point. Donut Onventional: It's not just conventional motor oil, its onventional.

Nice video! The Cessna I fly takes 50 weight oil. Kind of acts like gear oil when it's cold. Takes forever to pour out of the bottle this time of year.
Best tutorial on oils I’ve seen in ages. Good stuff.
Got it! Thanks for the clarification! I was confused because engine oil does get thinner as it warms up but how can we claim it gets thicker and has a higher viscosity when it doesn't get thicker? "Behaves like" is the what I needed.
Love your videos. You taught and entertained me so much. Greetings from Germany
Laurids Steege I also learned Germans are space people. Thank you for bringing synthetic oil. Lol

excellent explanation of oil viscosity I have been yelling at a apprentices(and other mechanics too) for years and I think from now on I will just refer them to this video
Absolutely Brilliant explanation 😊👏
“And wether you’ll be putting extra stress on your engine by towing or hauling an extra load like your moms chair”
I laughed, Bart sneaks these jokes so well, you sometimes don't even notice
"you're pretty folksy" I have no idea why that is what made me crack up
I like that you took up the environmental aspect of the different oils, i think it´s important! Good job on the video :)
this answers questions I wasn't aware I even had, fantastic!

10:20 "...I think i'm just gonna get the full syn. Pennzoil" as he picks up a conventional "high mileage" jug (red cap), then at 10:44 he has the "full syn." (silver cap) under his arm.
Very good information! Thanx Donut! Keep this kinda stuff coming.
You explanation of what engine oil weight is was on key I’ve never heard an explanation as good as yours👍🏻👍🏻
Lawnmower16 2012 too bad he was wrong.
6:28 "from a low of 5" what about those fancy bmw and mercs that take 0w- XX?
All this video does is validate my dedication to using only full synthetic oils and not changing my oil every 3000 miles. I think that plus buying quality filters has definitely helped my Mustang's engine not have any issues despite having 180k miles on it and it being over 20 years old. Shame I didn't do that with my suspension... all the money saved not fixing a broken engine went towards endlessly fixing suspension issues...
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!! I learn so much thank you 🙏🏽
I love you Donut Media. Keep it simple for people like me !
What a onvenient informative video

This video was helpful and good information thank you brother.
Donut, thank you so much for helping me understand motor oils better than before.
Interesting. In Canada you can buy 0W40, or 0W30.
What I learned in this video: the "W" stands for "Winter".
these videos always put a big smile on my face!
I beleive a video on roll cages would be good, due to some of us having a family and we want to assure our families are protected from a heavier metal carrying vehicle, like what the science is behind a proper elaboration of how they work and certain frame work has a better withstanding percentage from accidents... thank you, your videos really assist to understand 🙏
For me, the age and condition of the engine is also a thing to consider. Fully syn on new engines especially with variable valve timing yes definitely recommended. But for old cars there are cases people switches to fully syn like 0w or 5w from conventional then the engine leaks and rattles like hell. Engine condition can also be a factor and also some old engines are not even designed to run on fully synthetic like 0w when they were new. At least that's what i think. Conventional oil is fine just remember to change it regularly.
100% true man...i have experienced same thing
@@junaidkhawaja9453 thanks, especially on very high mileage engines. I don't recommend putting fully synthetic. It may cause more damage than protection. What he said about fully synthetic is true but it only applies on modern engines from what i think of it.
@@KVinceL also if you have always run syn oil, keep using it.
Straight conventional in my 72 beetle
I put some full synthetic in my '97 Honda Integra Type R, with 260000km on it, and it loved it way more than the semi synthetic or regular oil I was putting in. So Id say it depends on the engine
Its funny because Nolan works full time at Pepboys, I seen him working there a few weeks ago lol

Anyone care to explain, recently i discovered that heavy duty engine oil (HDEO)l that mostly use for trucks can be on regular car that commonly use (PCMO). So my question are, what are the pro's and con's using HDEO over PCMO?. In addition, even motorcycle use HDEO. Thanks in advance.
The additive packages. GF-4 SM HDEO had higher ZDDP but with SN I think it has been significantly been reduced.
When I threw my bearings I was putting 20w -50 in my engine before I traded it in.

Been running conventional oil in my old 95 444 turbo diesel since it takes 14qts of oil each change, think I'll just be going with Amsoil next oil change after watching this and how Amsoil makes their product and I also recycle my oil changes back into my fuel tanks so maybe I'll see a difference in lubricity there, can't get more green than that lol good video!
