    • Agree a lot of these people are behaving stupidly but the organizers and drivers also have a responsibility. The crowds all over the track should be a signal to the organisers to stop the session.

    • i think he missed his left turn and need to turn around. i'm guessing he tried to do a finnish flick into an e-brake turn using the wet road to break traction, but it didn't and he just went right off the embankment.

  • 0:50 perfect example of why having a cage is very important. The entire rear is bent, except for the cage. If it wasn't there, the driver probably would have his head caved in.

    • If you look closely, you can see the tire in the ditch after the forces involved in the spin tore it off the right rear wheel’s rim. I imagine he cut a fuel line or knocked a hole in the oil pan as he bottomed out on the edge of the ditch/asphalt while sliding sideways. The sparks from the rim against the asphalt ignited this fuel/oil leak and caused a massive fireball.

    • @@MrDejast My uneducated guess is ABS. Cars without antilock brakes would lose traction (and control) in corners at full braking, while modern cars have that plus traction + stability control. Just look at the Ford RS200.

    • That’s the thing about rally. The audience loves the thrill of danger being next to all those fast moving cars. It’s one of the reasons they crowd the roads waiting for the next car to come along. I think it’s brilliant lol

    • @@combativeThinker Well, you can make random statements about anything ofc, but in no sense is this a "part of the sport" :-) The sport could be run exactly the same if no people were watching from close proximity at all. I get that the audience wants to feel like they are somehow a part of it... but that is exactly the weird quirk I was talking about - how about rather being a race driver (or anything else) instead? And btw. I am definitely not saying this from some "holier than thou" perspective, this happens to all of us - living from TV shows, or celebrities, athletes, racers... isntead of focuing on what we can become. Its good to refresh the understanding that Your life is really about You and what You do, rather than what you watch :-)
