  • The seminar in Puerto Rico he’s referring to was called the Mixshow Power Summit. What’s crazy is that I met Alchemist there. The whole industry was there all staying at one resort. Probably the dopest weekend I can remember. This was like 2004. It’s also the same weekend Kanye is referring to when he said “had a conference with DJ’s, in Puerto Rico 3 days”.

  • I remember hearing "Home Sweet Home" on a website back in the day. This was early. Pre-facebook early. It might have been the early days of Dat Piff before that blew up. I loved it. I was already a fan of Ras after hearing "Rassassination". Then the Jada x Styles joint dripped and I was like,"Wait. That's Ras beat 😂.." Glad to finally hear more about this story.

That person owns the rights to it. Ras BOUGHT the beat and then Alchemist sold it again. 😂 why is that so hard to understand? He didn’t give it to him fir free, he purchased it.

  • They did reconcile as mentioned so I thought was cool. AL did 'Linguistics' for Ras super dope cut for the ADIDAS album put out. Then AL did the Evidence joint 'The Red Carpet' feat. Ras and Raekwon another dope joint. Didn't know AL was talking smack again about the whole Home Sweet Home record. Oh well hopefully they can squash it again. Home Sweet Home is dope joint, I remember when Razhel was on Tim Westwood radio show and there was a segment called drama hour. They discussed the Ras Kass joint vs Kiss joint and asked fans to call in an vote which track was better. Razhel said he likes his version lol and then did a dope freestyle over the beat

    • Ras was still in the process of recording the album when Al double-crossed him, he had no idea Van Gogh wouldn't come out. And even if he did, SO WHAT? It's like some of y'all can't accept basic facts. You legally CAN'T resell a beat that someone else already paid for. Alchemist was 100% wrong on how he handled this initially and is 200% wrong to keep lying this long and smearing Ras's name.     • not in 2001. Or 2000 when he probably actually made the beat. Nas and Al didn't link up until 2002. The beat in question which Ras Kass bought ended up becoming "We Gonna Make It" by Jadakiss, which was released in 2001. Before that, Al was mostly working with Defari, Dilated Peoples, Eastern Conference Records, etc. Nas doesn't use Alchemist as a producer until God's Son in 2002.

    • Yes! One can like Alchemist and still accept the truth, and that it wasn't ok. Even if a classic song came from it. Perhaps it was "meant to be" but it doesn't mean it's ok to do business like that, and if you do make that mistake, own up and move on.
