hip hop producer, The Alchemist recent did a Complex Magazine interview defending the process in which he originally sold a beat to Ras Kass and eventually sold that same beat to Jadakiss of the Lox which would go on to become the hit record "We Gone Make It"
after 100's of tags/notifications, Ras decided to watch this interview for the first time and film his honest Reaction (Part 1)

    • Exactly. I was a Ras fan back then. I remember reading this story in Source magazine when all this first happened. Alchemist admitted he sold the beat to Jada after selling it to Ras. Ras story never changed. It never had to because he's telling the truth.

    • @stryfetc1 believe it or not there was a lot of buzz around Ras when he first emerged. Ras never had a "hit" but after of that was mistakes made by his label and mistakes in his personal life. But not due to lack of skill or appeal.

    @A_Class216@A_Class2162 жыл бұрын
  • The craziest part is that Alchemist admitted in that clip to being paid for the beat and taking it back because he hadn't heard. As a producer, I understand how it feels, but if you were paid for the music ... he didn't even say "I'll swap it out for another beat" or anything like that

    @mrjames851@mrjames8512 жыл бұрын
    • Al couldn't even swap it out. He already played Rass his best beats and Rass paid for 3 but only took 1 cos he didnt like the rest. Likewise, Jada picked the same beat and turned down the rest. That means Al only had one beat worth selling in that moment and had nothing else to offer either artist.

    • You completely missed the point....it was about the business, not the music. That's like you putting money down to close on a house but the realtor ends up selling the house to someone else because "they were a better fit for the "neighborhood " than you. You wouldn't give a damn about the BS and neither should Ras. If he paid for a beat first why he suffer because Al double sold the beat....and I'm one of the biggest alchemist fans you'll find, but business is business. If Ras is telling the truth, it was bad business by Al.

    • Ehhh I don't think Ras Kass had a chance to have a career with the first two albums and then all the problems he had with the label. That song probably was never gonna drop on Van Gogh. So the beat did go to the right party cause we Gonna make it is a classic. That said lemme tell you Jadakiss is Never EVER going to make a Soul on Ice type classic album. And I love Jadakiss. Ras Kass has a right to be salty about the beat if it got sold twice. But Van Gogh album was never gonna really drop. I honestly thought Alchemist took the beat back because of the drama Rad Kass was having with the label not wanting to put out his albums.

    • @@elceezDoscinco Thats nonsense. He did an album, got guest appearances from Dr. Dre and the label fucked it up. Dr Dre said he didn't want the song he was on to be a lead single, Ras Kass echo'd these words to the label and they still went against it. He made two albums Van Gogh and Goldyn Child and they refused to release either one! This is a situation where you can blame the label. They were stalling Ras Kass. Jay Z was on Priority and Rocafella ditched them. He even made reference to it on Rap Game Crack Game "Priority's work wasn't right so I switched Factories" Whether they were a good label or not they shelved two albums he created. The song Van Gogh got played on the Sopranos, despite being unreleased. Priority just didn't get or understand the kind of artist they had.
