The Bounty is a 1984 British historical drama film directed by Roger Donaldson, starring Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins, and produced by Bernard Williams with Dino De Laurentiis as executive producer. It is the fifth film version of the story of the mutiny on the Bounty. The screenplay was by Robert Bolt and it was based on the book Captain Bligh and Mr. Christian (1972) by Richard Hough. It was made by Dino De Laurentiis Productions and distributed by Orion Pictures Corporation and Thorn EMI Screen Entertainment. The music score was composed by Vangelis and the cinematography was by Arthur Ibbetson.
The opening music is fantastic: scary, dark, mysterious, and a fantastic base-sound. Vangelis is a true legend. Probably one of the best composers of the last 50 years.
Not "Probably one of the best composers of the last 50 years." For sure: THE BEST.
EverCHILLSssss💓💓💓💓
@@carolkati- nah. John Barry is leagues better than anyone else.
For me, he is the best of all time.
@@MrCostaC Yeah, if you want a James Bond theme from the 60"s..
Possibly the best movie i have ever watched in my lifetime. Vangelis is the icing on the cake
it would've been better if they chose a younger actor to play blythe he was only 33 not 55
My favorite movie of all time.
@@derick3482 It is easy to make a young man old. Its very difficult to make an old man young.
Anger, fear, madness, danger…they’re all here in the first haunting track of this masterpiece. Fabulous music for a superb film. I adored Anthony Hopkins as Bligh.
36:47 Absolutely incredible. The world won't be the same without Vangelis, but he, along with his music will live on forever with us. The Bounty, Alexander, Blade Runner, 1492... all such amazing soundtracks to great films. 💕
Chariots of Fire too
@@lw3646Yes, that too! Can't believe I forgot that.

There will never be another soundtrack like this for a movie like this.
❤💪👍👍👍
💪💪💪👍👍👍👌👌👌Best Movie and Soundtrack from the Bounty ...😍👏👏👏
I feel you bro. This movie was fantastic. I absolutely loved every scene. Film industry won't ever be as good as in previous decades, as for example the 80's. It makes me want to cry 😢😰😥 this amazing soundtrack by Vangelis melted my heart.
BLADE RUNNER, from 1982.
@@winterland2011 different soundtrack, different movie.
I went to Morea on a sailing ship and anchored in the bay next to where this was filmed. This music echoed in my head as the blackness of night swallowed up all light. My God, he captured the primal nature of the place so perfectly. I got a tatoo there to remind me of the most beautiful place I had ever visited in the whole world. Wonderful film. See it for yourself if you can.
i was 15 in 84 because of the soundtrack and the cinematography every time i manually flipped through channels on the “cable box” and this movie was on HBO i usually stopped to watch it to the end. For years i had never seen this movie in its entirety until maybe 10 years ago.
Me to I was 12 & a huge mel Gibson fan from his roles as mad max . Because of that I watched it alot on HBO to in that fabulous time . Capt Blige , Mad Max & Vangelis ♡
Exactly the same experience for me as well. And we are the same age.
I remember seeing this in the movie theater back in the day, not expecting how fucking good the music would be. I saw it twice.
Au revoir Vangelis, Merci de m'avoir laissé ton influence musicale. Je continuerai d'écouter ta musique car elle, elle est éternelle, et de mon côté je vais continuer de composer de la musique avec une touche de ton essence !!! Salut Maestro Vangelis 😢😢
Big fan of anthony hopkings and this movie and vangelis From Armenia 🇦🇲❤🇬🇧
I've waited 35 years for this album thanks from the bottom of my heart
Diane Dukes me too was on a sailing holiday in Turkey on a dark sea with a full moon 🌕 and this on a headset ....
The OST has not been released this is isolated audio from the Bluray.
Great like Diane I’ve waited an eternity for this got the Dominick hauser recording

@@innosanto A bootleg... 😀
Probably my favorite movie ever.
These early 80's soundtracks were so moody and memorable. Setting a tone that is unbelievable. Vangelis, John Carpenter, Pino Donaggio, Giorgio Moroder and more.
The true story of the Bounty is actually very interesting. Especially when you include the events on Pitcairn Island and Tahiti that took place after the mutiny... Someone could make whole TV series out of it. (as long as it's not wok-if-ied that is..)
RIP Vangelis ...thank you for the music 🧡
1492...the best album of the universe😂😂😂😂
Vangelis, the man from other planet. Music beyond time and eternal… something what will last for mankind..
Perfection at its finest.... visually and audibly
Amazing, dark, atmospheric. It would figure he did this score right after Blade Runner, theres alot of parallels. This one gets lost in the shuffle a bit but man its a gem. It really is blade runner-ish at alot of points
Missing was in there too. All three have similar sounds.
@@afrose71 Absolutely! I love that one, very moving
This one is not the soundtrack someone tried to take from the movie but is a little sped up and distorted and hurts my ears although this soundtrack is one of my faves. I usually go to other videos ot listen.
Oh man the first track, the main one is so deep and nostalgic, atmospheric and spooky, LOVE it to bits
Clever music, constant thumping evoking = vast endless sea, rattle for snake type sound = heat of the sun, rocking and swaying of the boat. Conveys an errie sound of vastness, loneliness, heat, repetiveness evokes the landscape in which the drifting boat is set adrift in. Master in placing synthesizer music to motion pictures. Subtle and non overbearing. That's why I like his music !!
✌👍👌
Great analysis ! thanks, and I would add the thumping also refers to the beating of the heart, but poets have known this relationship between man and sea since the beginning of time ;)
That's why Vangelis is a genius.
great describing! well done!
"God damn your hide..you turned your back on me!" Amazing lines, amazing performances, gorgeous sites, amazing soundtrack..amazing film!
I listen to this every week, I grew up with this soundtrack and I wont put it away.
Adieu à VANGELIS. Compositeur de génie.
I love this soundtrack, so moody. Vangelis and Tangerine Dream were the Masters of 80s soundtracks.
May Vangelis R.I.P. So sad this news. Listening to his music all day, through my workday, as a tribute. There will never be another like him.
They found paradise, but it was tainted by Imperial darkness and savage wildlands. Heaven with dark storms, sails through mist and sunlight through her hair. The Bounty - sailing for treasure beyond wealth
Historical factoid. If anything, Bligh's tragic fault was that he was too easy on his crew in Tahiati , it was a long voyage out , but only half finished, he still had to transport the plants to the West Indies, so he gave his crew maximum time ashore, relaxed discipline, then had to bare down underway again. He was exonerated, by his court martial but sternly reprimanded. He eventually was given command of a ship of the line under Nelson at the Battle of Copenhagen. Restored his career and retired as Governor General of New Zealand.
"Are you afraid to go around the horn Mr. Christian? Are you a coward too sir?"
😱😦😮
"J Bro??"...-"NOT brother???"
No. I take the ship, and send you back
Sublime and haunting music composed by Mr Vangelis.
Damn the first track make me chill, alerted, spook, that something big is going to happen!!! Love it!!!
Thank you. A thousand times thank you for this beautiful soundtrack of Vangelis, a genius among geniuses. I loved this film ''TheBounty'', I watched it for first time 3 weeks ago at my current 34 years. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the film, actors, characters and music. Gosh... I wish films like this were made again. The majority of good ones are in the past decades. It makes me want to cry 😢 Newer film directors and industry don't fulfill my expectations. Mainly INDUSTRY, because several times good directors and excellent screen writers want to make a good movie but can't, don't receive the money for their project because it's not ''mainstream'' or aimed at younger, consumerist silly audiences.
Watch French films and films coming out of Russia and India also. Good stuff.
@@joebombero1 old movies from France and Soviet movies are good but Modern Russian movies are awful, even in Russia they're disliked, I mean just propaganda state films like Tourist (2021) and Stalingrad and T-42, very dull grey films and even shitty superhero ripoff like Guardians .Modern Russian state doesn't allow as much for experimentation like the older Soviet films (even if they were often banned in the past too), like White Sun of the Desert, Stalker, War and Peace (60s), even Battleship Potemkin, Come and See, Ballad of a Soldier. India has a thriving modern movie industry, and most of Europe still is also working hard to support independent film, plenty French-language movies lately that have been beloved, and not just critics but audiences too. Lots more bigger international films now, so there's so many countries making great movies now with bigger budgets and support than they might've in the past. Also I have to point out that great movies are still made in the Hollywood sphere they just tend to be independent, or smaller obscurer films that the big studios kind of neglect to market. South Korea works hard to promote good original filmmakers, and Hollywood used to, even in the early to mid 2010s there were brilliant big mainstream original movies, in the past years its gotten so bad.
I appreciate that you point out its the industry's fault, I see so many goddamn comments just shitting on modern movies and blaming writers/directors, and laying the blame on 'wokeism' for killing movies. The industry and corporations killed modern Hollywood and sucked the life out of it and so few directors get a chance now, only big veteran directors like Scorcese/Spielberg/Mann/Fincher/Villeneuve ever get the chance, the budget, and the studio-backing to make big original projects. Its a shame people dismiss the writers strike because of how bad recent movies have been, its not those writers fault for getting paid below minimum wage in unstable job positions with no time given, just like VFX artists are given jackshit, and most actors aren't rich they're working in the background increasingly replaced by CGI.
Such a talented musician and composer.
Emotional, passionate and great masterpiece from Vangelis.
I find this score to be very haunting And I found the ending to be horrific. Just the very idea to be stuck on an island With no return sounds Insane.
In their quest for freedom, they imprisoned themselves.
Forget Braveheart, this is Mel Gibson's best film in my opinion.
I agree J Bro this and Gallipoli in 1981.
👍👍
And Mad Max
The Year we live Dangerously?
yes..the bounty, braveheart and the patriot..mel gibson really hit the high mark in historical movies
When I watched the movie had no idea who had made the music - just guessed Vangelis. It's so different from his other deeds yet somehow typical - strange to express. Very good film and so the soundtrack. Many thanks!
Vangelis music on this legendary. And the cast as well! Hopkins, Gibson, Lawrence Olivier, Liam Neeson, Daniel Day Lewis lol... Each one of them usually holds a movie as the main character actor. Movie is excellent. The girl plays great as well as does her movie father. And very good direction and script.
Definitely One Of His Hardest Soundtracks To Find !!!! And I Have It !!! Thanks Vangelis For An Excellant Score !!!
Cd#1 Is Farther Down The List Did You Listen To That One ? I Have The Only Coment On That Cd So Far !!! It Has 31 Tracks Look Further Down . It's Still There Waiting To Be Played By Someone Else !!!@Martin K Dodd Music Channel
It is a shame that Anthony Hopkins did not receive an oscar for his performance.
Absolutely hauntingly beautiful.
I love this music !! This is what I listen to every night before bed its so soothing and beautiful I agree there will never he antything as beautiful as this music!!!!
RIP ❤️
LOVE this!!! One of the best scores of any movie I've ever seen. Simply mesmerizing...
When I watched this film for yet another time last night, I again felt grateful that Vangelis created this masterwork. The end titles music, which starts at 49:20, is one of my favorite pieces of music. All I can say is that it was total genius to hire the Master for the job.
Да.... Это крутая композиция, цепляет за душу.... 👍👍👍
49:20.смотрю на звёзды и хочется в полёт навсегда
this is amazing soundtrack by Vangelis anyways thank you KZhead for having it here for my listening pleasure
Great soundtrack, it just washes over you. Vangelis a genius. You can hear the Bladerunner soundtrack coming through. This film has an amazing cast. Hopkins could have dialed it back a bit, and made the Bligh character perhaps more realistic, more identifiable, but it would have negatively impacted Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon's careers. The real Bligh definitely had a sarcastic streak. But Christian is, in the filmaker's view, the villian. Love the way the music swells as the verdict is read out. Did Christian do enough to support his friend, Bligh? He seemed to regard Bligh as his social inferior. My favorite line. "The Royal Navy is not a humorous institution."in
A sarcastic streak would have rendered Bligh a difficult captain to deal with, but I believe that it was his sadistic streak that caused the mutiny.
this story in the south pacific fascinates me
excellent score - fits the movie so well....
This movie and it's accompanying soundtracks, was and is still.....superb, amazing, intriguing, captivating, surreal, sensual and exotic. I loved the movie and the actors within it, specifically Sir Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson, Daniel Day Lewis and Liam Neeson. I also love, love, love Vangelis's music and when they brought all of this superb talent together, you were sure to get a movie masterpiece!!! Thank you for sharing! Peace to you and to all. x
Bonsoir, une des plus magnifique mélodie qui ne m'ait été jamais donnée d'entendre a ce jour & un film d'une beauté, d'une puissance la aussi que j'ai rarement aperçu! 1984... A toi, mon Papa. Cyril.
What do you think made them so easy to corrupt? ....I don't know......... It was the place ...itself. Powerful stuff
Vangelis is Masterful
Mám rád mnoho filmů, ovšem BOUNTY...to je prostě se svou hudbou taková bomba, že se k němu vracím s obdivem už celá léta, defacto od jeho prvního uvedení do kin. Díky všem, za jeho vznik ;-)
It tears at the soul, huh? Pure magic. Meditation music. Some humans are just.... beyond human. Vangelis is one of those. Fly to the stars, cuz you left the best of your human work down here. Absolute magnificence. Thank you.
A soundtrack is truly phenomenal not only when it is enjoyable independently from the film, or serves to enhance the excitement of watching the movie, but when it's also used as a narrative device. Akin to the way John William's and LOTR soundtracks are well known for their themes, and weaving in a character/story arc into how the music is played or unfinished. This movie has just a wonderful way of suddenly creeping up at you, and with this loud boom marking the beginning of a track, but also an important character moment. Like when they arrive at Tahiti, and you see Fletcher 'going native' and falling love, or at a certain dialogue between Fletcher and Bligh when the former starts to foment resentment towards his captain, and the score marks this significant shift.
Très beau film à voir, et comme toujours accompagné d'une superbe musique de VANGELIS
Rip Vangelis 05- 2022
This is new to me, I never knew Vangelis ever wrote a soundtrack upon boat and maritime theme before Riddle Scott' 1492.
Vangelis nélkül szegényebb lenne a világ!❤
Each of us dreams of a land where we can finally feel free. Where all the effort of a lifetime has been rewarded. Where desires are fulfilled and you live happily. We are all Christian Fletcher. Thanks Vangelis for this hopeful song
The inexplicable mysteries of the world’s oceans meet the ones in our minds with these sounds.
Rest in Peace Vangelis!
M.Gibson A.Hopkins D.d Lewis L.Olivie L,Neeson A real dream team
Edward Fox and Bernard Hill are also very fine actors who were in the film.

From 17:10 for me it's the perfect soundtrack for a film of a cryptozoological beast, perhaps mokele mbembe, which could be still living somewhere in likouala swamp.
“The men might be in charge? What are you threatening me with?” “It’s not a threat. It’s a warning.”
Este es unos de los álbumes de Vangelis tipo "ambientación" que son ideales para poner de fondo mientras se está dibujando o pintando, la calidad de audio de CD original se siente todo el tiempo, gracias por subirlo...
'You put that fear there, I did not. Round the Horn is the right way and round the Horn we will go. Are you a coward, Mr Christian? '
Van-genius. Simply magnificent. Great film as well.
VANGELIS was Amazing
I miss the maestro! His music remains, but his presence is gone.
This is my favorite soundtrack by Vangelis, and it's sadly the least known. It's not even available on Pandora, although the other soundtracks are. Oh, well. Don't mind coming back here occasionally.

This song is fantastic fits the movie. They went in tahiti lol that time. This movie was a 80s script on a boat full of egos
The language of frequency and haunting familiar echoes of light language coming through give me chills. I heard this as a child, and music as it speaks many languages of the many of us conducted by light Feel this beyond words like time.
First track inspired Alien covenant’s theme, evidently timeless.
"You shall kiss the gunner's daughter"
not to mention the beautiful Women of Tahiti
I was listening to a different Vangelis album this morning, and the link to this popped up in my feed. You have NO idea of how long I've been searching for this complete soundtrack! Being an avid Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins fan from way back, I saw this film in the theater when it was initially released, and went in search for the soundtrack....with no luck. For YEARS, I've been unable to find a complete compilation of it. Bits and pieces here an there, but no full soundtrack. This soundtrack and the Blade Runner soundtracks were holy grails of mine. (I finally got the Blade Runner soundtrack a number of years back). So may i just say a heartfelt THANK YOU for posting this! I had no idea that this was out there. And by any chance, do we know who did the cover art? It's incredible.
Haunting and dark ost.Vangelis a great composer.

One of his best Works for sure - The movie itself is one of the 3 best ever made movies with Ships of the 18th Century ! The Story of the Bounty can not be filmed better then this and eaven if they make a new version and eaven if all new Generation kids like it more , i will just laugh :)=
amazing film
Vangelis ...fantastic ...
No doubt- the opening theme has the Longest Build-up in Cinematic History. It's like boiling a pot of water on medium heat.
