The Bounty Trailer - Directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson, Laurence Olivier, Edward Fox, Daniel Day-Lewis. The familiar story of Lieutenant Bligh, whose cruelty leads to a mutiny on his ship. This version follows both the efforts of Fletcher Christian to get his men beyond the reach of British retribution, and the epic voyage of Lieutenant Bligh to get his loyalists safely to East Timor in a tiny lifeboat.
MGM - 1984

  • Classic blunder in the making of this film when in the early part of it, Hopkins as Bligh was seated at a dinner table with his assisgned First mate and Gibson as Christian, when Bligh refers to sailing around "Australia". Australia was not known as that at the time of the Bounty. It was known universally as New Holland and was not called Australia until the early 19th century and officially known as Australia until 1824.

  • I don't blame Christian for rebelling he saw a better world on the islands personally than what he had known in England or anywhere else and being an empire builder and sometimes going to war, and the tough disciplined life of being in the Royal Navy in the service of the British Monarchy. He saw how happy the Island natives were living in peace and how beautiful the women were in the south pacific. Nope can't blame him. Then again you have to sympathise with Capt Bligh. He was a British Navy Capt and he had a job to do and he was a very professional seaman. He saw some his men under swerving from the their oaths they took as British Naval officers. THat is the to serve King or Queen and Country no matter what and not go AWOL. You sympathise both of these men. Victims of their era and circumstances. Terrific actors and great sountrack by Vangelis a hidden gem of a movie from the 1980s. It had great actors like Hopkins, Olivier a young Daniel Day Lewis and of course Mel Gibson.

    @Vrailly@Vrailly7 жыл бұрын
    • The Bounty has the advantage of star studded cast and of being based on a true story. But it's not a war movie like Commander. It's quite a slower burner of a movie too, told in flashbacks. It definitely hasn't aged well.

      @tylerbourgoin3338@tylerbourgoin33388 жыл бұрын
    • In my opinion, the Brando version was rather entertaining to some extent; though it is considered the least historically accurate movie about the mutiny. The 1935 version had plenty of historical accuracy in it too. This movie was obviously meant to be more historically accurate. I can understand why you might have some dislike for the Brando version.

      @Varjag369@Varjag3692 жыл бұрын
    • @@tylerbourgoin3338 That is highly debatable because unlike others brando insisted on focusing a serious portion on tahiti culture and all which was instrumental for the mutiny. they found heaven and that was there chance to stay back!!! brando was a revolutionary. so i was not surprised that he made it all encompassing against the interest of others. I mean he had to do it otherwise the whole dimension would have gone a miss.
