Here is a quick tutorial of how to remove a deep treble hook from your skin. Tim was picking up a Tactical DD Crankbait when the Size 2 treble lodged deep in his palm. While this is never fun, the removal process can be quick and relatively painless if you know what to do.

Man, I can’t thank you enough. Just watched this yesterday and my buddy called me this afternoon to see if I could yank a swimbait hook out of his pinky finger. Worked like a charm. 👍🏻👍🏻
That is awesome!! I actually got the same call a couple of days ago too. Had to take a treble out of the tip of a buddies finger.
@@tacticalbassin years ago, I had a gold spoon stuck in my big toe fishing down in florida bay, it was real bad and I didn’t know what to do. Our options were yank it out or end our trip early and head to a ER. I didn’t know about this trick then , and ended up just pushing down on the spoon while yanking it out with pliers it took a couple tries but finally came out. Wrapped it up in a towel and kept fishing. My father and I both slammed snook and reds that day not to mention our limit on trout

It will happen, I've only had it happen once. Last year, on the first cast of the morning I caught a 6lber on a Damiki D pop, and I could barley see. I went to grab the bait, and the back treble was hooked in the fish mouth and in my thumb.
I'm with you man

It seems like every time I get around a jerk bait I either get hooked or get something hooked with it.
@Don conant me too I hook everything but a damn fish
I’m a doctor and a fisherman. I use this technique regularly. Your video is excellent. Some don’t show the loop around the hook. Without looping around the hook you can launch it when it comes out. First hand experience here😊 Pressure down on the shaft of the hook helps stop the barb from holding. Surprisingly painless. I recommend eye protection. Your sunglasses will do.
wow.... thx Doc. *from Corsica
But what you don't have no body helping you?
@joy-to7dx I guess keep it in till you can find someone else? I mean no other way that comes to mind, but someone may have a solution
Maybe tie the braid to something else and then move your hand away from it to create the pull?
@@bagolbones5997 I've done it by passing a stringer thru the hook and tying it to the steering wheel of the boat and holding counter pressure on the base of the hook and jerking both hands opposite of the tie point. My Dad was in a guided tournament and one of the guides told him that another guide had just told him, on his CB radio, that one of his party had just gotten a hook in his hand and they were going on in to the hospital. Dad told his guide to meet the other boat. Dad crawled in their boat and popped the hook out and was back in his boat inside of 5 minutes and said, LETS FISH.
My best friend hooked herself when we were five years old. My dad was able to do this and remove it almost painlessly. It blew my mind until this very moment. He’s been gone 13 years, but a fisherman’s advice never dies.❤❤❤
When I was a kid, I raised my rod over my head ( I had the string lowered out) and whipped the rod to cast and the hooks on the bait got stuck right under my right butt cheek. I immediately knew it was going to be good. I had to just pull it out.

My first time with a rod & reel (about 9) my grandfather took me out on the lake in an aluminum boat and the first cast I managed to hook him in the neck. I have to laugh now, but he was big mad, lol! We had to head back to the house because he couldn’t see the hook to remove it and I guess he didn’t want to risk it being near a blood vessel. He had an absolute hissy fit 😂. I think he was more mad that his fishing day had been ruined , but I got a ‘talking to’ all the way home 😅

I had a triple treble hook Rapala 6 or 7" long meant to look like a shiner or sardine if in salt. I was young maybe 13+/-, mom and I came home was time for bed and couldn't find my dog, a little Yorkie and we lived in a 2 bedroom apartment not really anywhere for him to go couldn't hear him or anything, after a few minutes we found him thru his lips, paw, and a comforter he was on reason we couldn't find he was stuck and couldn't yelp, emergency vet sucked because they had to sedate him.

Go to the hospital too. If your hook has had bait, raw fish etc on it, you could get a very serious infection. Especially if the hook is deep in your hand, it could progress to a bone infection or septic arthritis depending on where you were hooked. This stuff requires medical attention. Don’t just yank it out, because not only could you damage structures in your hand like a tendon for instance, or a nerve, but you might need antibiotics depending on the situation.

doesn’t hurt that much using this method
What's funny is it don't really hurt. Been there several times. This trick really works.
Small circular punctures feel similar to a needle, not too painful but very uncomfortable. I stepped on a thumb tack once and it took me a full 5 seconds to realized I was impaled lol. Didn’t hurt a bit
Putting pressure on the shank of the hook pushed the hook against the side opposite from the barb. That is a very important thing to do to minimize the pain and damage from the barb ripping it's way out
I took a picture with the bass while still hooked. Lol drove to the er with one hand. It didn't really hurt.
Last weekend my buddy got hooked in his foot while attempting to land a good size pike while in a kayak. He should have had a net, he likely wouldn't have been hooked. But he was hooked, as I attempted too remove the hook just as you did in the video, I noticed some swelling that generally doesn't occur when hooked. Turns out that the hook was in his vein, and if we had pulled it, he would have required surgery. The doctor at the hospital told us that he was glad we didn't pull it out. In saying all that, wait ten minutes or so before pulling any hook, that's approximately how long it took for the swelling to start. The freaky thing about the situation is that the hook didn't look like it was in a vein initially. This does work to remove hooks, but make sure you aren't in a vain before doing it.
Also dont ripped a barbed hook out if you feel nerve pain. Dont want to rip a nerve out of your whatever!
Sound smart but I don't wanna sit for 10 minutes with a hook in my butt lol

Maybe tie the braid to a fixed object, and you yank with your hand.
Push the hook further in while angling it so the barb emerges from the skin. Then clip the barb portion off and remove the hook.
Have a 12 inch loop section tied to something already, that way you can do it 1 handed. Just flip the end of the loop into that shape and put the hook through it. Then you use the technique by yourself pulling against the solid object

If you can sacrifice the hook, push it further into your skin until its tip comes out through the other end. Bro got a hook in his hand and said, "Y'know what I should do?"
I pushed mine thru and cut the hook 😂
I did the same and I think I hit a nerve because I felt a cold sharp ache pain. I want be pushing through again but it was fine after I cut and pulled it out.
@@ChevyBoy804 ouch lol no pain like a nerve pain. Imagine if you had yanked the nerve tho. Yikes
@@jtotherog nerve pain ain’t no joke I slept on the hardwood floor after drinking all day and I slept for prolly 15 hrs on my leg and cut circulation off. My foot swelled up huge couldn’t walk right for months. At night it would burn it felt like my foot had hot coals inside of it and not shit I could do about it
@@Bleeeeeed only more alcohol can fix that pain.
Im worried if the cut on the hook produces metal dust that may get caught in the wound when the rest of the hook is pulled back through the wound. Not sure if its just a paranoia
I've seen this done in other videos, but not up close like this. I know it's gnarly to see up close, but just in case this ever happens I'm glad to know what to do. Thank you Tim!!! ❤
Got hooked the exact same way. I was with my friend and his dad. I handed his dad my pliers and said “Please get this out before the adrenaline wears off”
