It’s time for an epic Audi vs Lamborghini showdown!
We’ve got Mat in his Audi R8 Spyder V10, and it’s facing off against a Lamborghini Huracan Evo! These cars are almost identical under the skin, but let’s see how they compare anyway.
Starting with the Audi, it’s powered by a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that can put down 620hp and 580Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 1,695kg. As new, this car would set you back around £167,000.
Then we have the Lambo. It’s powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 engine, but the power output has increased slightly, climbing to 640hp and 600Nm. It comes equipped with the same 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and the claimed dry weight is 1,422kg (so you can add around an extra 100kg for the proper weight). It’s a bit pricier than the Lambo, costing around £198,000.
So will the more powerful Lambo snatch it? Or will the Audi’s launch propel it to victory? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

The only thing I can notice that is different from when you're drag racing to when you're testing the launch is the amount of time you hold your car in launch mode. When you're practicing, you just hold it for a sec and then let it go, when you're dragging, you're holding it for much longer, maybe that overheats the clutches or the robot arm

Matt, if your tyre pressures are up high that can upset the launch calculations. Try launching it with 4psi less all round... Also make sure that the front and rear tyres (whatever psi you run) have the same difference percentage between front and back as the recommendation. Those millimeters front to back can make the difference between it's calculations of projected or actual wheelspin, and therefore think there's moore spin on one axle than there is.

I think we've all had enough with the R8 by now. They've been making that same car for nearly 20 years and it's very outdated. It's a great, iconic, car, don't get me wrong, but there should've been an R8 successor like 10 years ago as well as a successor to that a few years back.
Just as an observer, maybe before you do the drag races, I dunno, prep the cars for what they need beforehand as far as heat or whatever. Just a thought

Two points to consider 1. Use the lighter R8 v10 plus / performance coupe, not the heavier Spyder. 2. Don't hold the car on launch for so long. It launched better when you did a shorter launch sequence.

It’s because you’re holding the rpm’s too long before launch during the races, brake needs to be released quicker- when you released the brake quick on the test runs it worked every time.

Matt, it only worked when you didn’t hold it in launch mode for the duration of the (3, 2, 1) countdown. Notice how you only held it for around a second when you launched alone.
I had a 2020 R8 Spyder and this is true. You pretty much had to activate launch control and instead just go. It doesn't do anything holding it in an NA car anyways

The opf filters kill the later model R8. I had a pre opf and it popped, banged, sounded awesome and launched perfectly pretty much every time.

Obviously its been shifting up to second and that's what causes the loss of power, ECU sends shift command based on wheel speed not actual speed, therefore gearbox shifts based on wheel speed not actual speed, Matt always spun too much on the launches cause you can see the speedometer read 60mph for a second (because that was how fast the wheels were spinning), and that's why it shifts into second while it regains traction, and by the time all that's done, he's in 2nd at 40mph when he should be in first.
You should do first rolling race with Comfort setting in R8, not Auto. Auto adjusts to your driving so it could be the reason why it was faster than Lambo in Strada mode.

Ich glaube das Ganze hängt mit der Länge der Startsequenz zusammen. Das herunter zählen und das dementsprechende halten des Gases dauert zu lange und deshalb funktioniert die Launchcontrol dementsprechend nicht. Das testen der Startkontrolle in der Gegenrichtung funktioniert weil die Startsequenz und das Halten des Gases viel kürzer ausfallen.

I think its because you rev up to long before launch. Try maybe during the launch count, on the 2 or 1 sec, you do the rev launch and launch on the go. Maybe that helps
