  • that's genuinely a really funny ad 💀 i like when youtubers put effort into their ad reads. it feels less like a screeching halt in the video and more like a welcome addition

    @mysticalcomic@mysticalcomic Жыл бұрын
    • Most KZheadrs don't get the ROI to put effort into the reads. Lud got a crew, writer, set design, costume tech, make up and hair tech, and two other streamers for a good half-day just for a 2 minute ad take. It's definitely on brand for Lud's channel to put in real effort, but you also have to have thousands of dollars earned to compensate the thousands invested. For most creators, that also means hundreds of thousands of viewers to count on watching the video.

Ludwig talks about checking Elon but who the fuck was checking the previous boss ? Why is he only concerned about it now ? Ludwig questioning if elon can keep twitter neutral. Elon posted a tweet at least we can all see that. Before Elon twitter was manipulating the shit shown to you wich is less obvious. We also have information leaked now that Twitter was having deals with the goverment. It's a good thing that elon bought twitter. Once again, how does he do a worse job ? • The communities I’m in are what I’m having any worries about with Twitter, every artist I know about uses Twitter for many reasons and has built up a lot there. A few artists I follow have even been verified, which seems like it will be useless now. I stopped using Twitter earlier this year, but I do need to occasionally open it up and check accounts I follow for updates on events or links to their stuff, or even just to go see art in better quality than the tiny square Instagram gives. So many people find out about each other easier in communities through the way twitter has worked in the past and I’m worried for where some of these people will go. I’m not worried about Twitter, or that people will leave twitter, I’m worried about where they will go instead and if what was there before for communities will be able to happen elsewhere successfully

  • I have a friend who works at twitter in The Uk. Before they fired everyone, they gave them a bunch of projects to finish in like 10% of the time that the projects should take. If there was any delay, theyd be sacked immediately. People were literally working around the clock, 24/7 weekends and weekdays pointlessly just to keep their job. Their code output was monitored by the hour, every hour, including at night and on the weekends. Some of the most well respected coders were fired in such a disrespectful way. Anyone who spoke out about the health of the employees were given more impossible tasks and subsequently fired. From what my friend’s told me over the years that he’s worked there, at least the corner of twitter he was working in was a really positive and productive work environment. Now, with all of his team gone and no one managing him, everyone is just sorta sitting around waiting for instructions on what they’re supposed to be working on. When it all started he thought it must have been a way for musk to manipulate the market. Now he thinks musk is just fucking stupid. There’s really no other explanation

  • To be fair on Elon Musk, a company like Twitter doesn't need something like a "Human Rights Team" and as someone working in the IT industry, you also don't need a dedicated accessibility team, your average developers instead should be trained up in accessibility standards and use the publicly available guidelines like WCAG. Same deal with the "Ethics and Accountability Team" the average staff member should be trained/educated so that they are not behaving in an unethical way, but you don't need a dedicated team for that. Those people were probably being paid a lot to do "work" that produced nothing.

      @wahahabuh@wahahabuh Жыл бұрын
    • @@wahahabuh You can say it doesn't need to. But if it should definitely depends on who runs the company. Twitter as a platform is used to misinform and mislead politics in every country in the world also different cultures have different societal problems that get expressed on twitter. If your company cares about those issues then they would have dedicated people to oversee what happens. Not long ago an account in Venezuela was allowed to use Twitter to encarcerate ppl for "hate speech" against the government. And that account belonged to the Chief of Justice of Venezuela. He got banned after putting 170+ ppl in jail (who haven't even got out) while he was even verified! It was extremely hard for people to get the problem noticed bc he does actually have a position in the government .So there is definitely value... if you care about how your platform is used. Someone on another social media said it much better than me, but essentially there are bound to be some processes that need to be done manually to keep the site working. Generally small things that weren't worth the time to automate, stuff like emptying certain caches, maybe they weren't even that important individually. The problem of not giving people enough warning is that the staff left have no clue what those people did and you end up with potentially company breaking gaps in work, which impacts you for years. I’m sure the company can run on 25% of what it was once everyone is skilled again, but no one’s going to be doing innovation until they know what they need to do at a basic level so it puts you behind competitors massively.
