TikTok’s chief executive has vowed to ‘keep fighting’, after the US House of Representatives passed a bill that could see the app banned in the US.
Shou Zi Chew warned that if the bill becomes law, it will mean the end of the app for its 170 million users in the US.
While the bill passed overwhelmingly in the vote, it still needs to clear the Senate and be signed by the president to become law.

Douyin is local chinese version, it operates separately from tiktok (on separate server). This is about information control. If bytedance had the majority of the shares, all the 3 letter agencies cannot access the database and user data which is stored in the server, which it can freely do with the likes of facepuke, instagay, youturd and X.

TikTok feeds your data straight to the CCP, which has been building up their military with the specific intent of surpassing the US. People have no idea that their data is valuable. People have no idea that companies are BUYING their data. Think about that. Instead of the user getting paid for their data someone else is. 💵💵💵
Users are paid by getting free access to apps. When was the last time you paid for Google Maps, etc? Everyone knows their data is bought, but its not worth that much individually. Companies, etc. don't care what you do, they care what your demographic buys and does on average.

Though vague, "National Security Risk" is a tall statement. It just so happened that Tiktok is way too popular, and especially close to china. Which would explain the insisting questions about the companies' relations with the CCP. Not to say that bytedance have done wrong or have done so, but its definitely a possibility and is a risk which would be bad for the national security.
