I am embarrassed by this comment section. Of course the dynasty didn't die this game, but that was the overwhelming media narrative afterwards. Reporters were asking Belichick if there will be a QB change, and Trent Dilfer famously proclaimed "Let's face it, the Patriots just aren't good anymore!" People on sports radio were dancing on the graves of the Patriots and celebrating the death of the dynasty, as it had been 10 years since they last won a Superbowl and they looked like trash through the first 4 weeks of the season. This is what prompted the famous "we're on to Cincinnati" press conference. Of course this game was really the beginning of the 2nd half of the dynasty, as they would go on to appear in 4 of the next 5 Superbowls and win 3
Exactly
Thank you for understanding! Really thought more people would have caught onto that
Great summary
Yeah, it was all a forced narrative by Sports Media. I was skeptical that the dynasty was actually over.

It was one hell of a run though
@Korn 1993 i'm not entirely a boston sports fan but 6 super bowls, 4 world series, 1 nba titles and 1 stanley cup since the turn of the 21st century! which other city can say such a thing? i mean can you blame them? 🤷♂️
LOL
"The night the Patriots dynasty ended." For one night only.
It's too early to call if it's over even without Brady. We have a young and hungry defense, Julian Edelman, and we will probably sign Cam Newton and that will be a match made in heaven.
A limited showing, for those limited in cerebral function
Exactly
@@guiitarfreak_ I hate the Patriots but even I have been saying this. Bill Belichick is a god damn genius, he'll figure something out.
Now it’s Officially Over.

Really didn’t expect that title to cause controversy 🤦♂️
NFL Throwback leave it to the KZhead comment section lol

All the people asking how this game is a classic and questioning the title have no clue how huge this game was at the time.
@@starfoxcity2694 and the rest is history. 3 more lombardi's!
No such thing as a "huge" September game to Belichick & the Pats. It's just an extension of preseason. Real football is played in November, December, January (and February if you're a Patriot)
@@MichaelMurphy-kj3xf they hadn’t won a Super Bowl in about 10 years at this time! People have talked about how this, in addition to the drafting of Garropolo, is what got Brady going again!
The patriots went on to win the Súper bowl that year...🤦🏻♂️🤣

This should've been called "The Pats Took A Day Off"

The chiefs have always been Bradys kryptonite. We always either give a very close game or blow their doors off.

Ya real shit the day their dynasty ended was that loss in the playoffs vs the titans

@@Dom901_ Coach Belichick Say It About 4-5 Times, Don't Remind Him!
On this day in 2014 the New England Patriots lost a game to fall to 2-2, leading many to believe that it was possibly time to call it quits on the dynasty and that Brady was on his last legs and Jimmy Garoppolo should be the quarterback of the future. Since that moment the Pats have been to 4 super bowls, winning 3 of them, Jimmy Garoppolo has been to a super bowl as a quarterback of another team (and signed a multi-million dollar contract) and Tom Brady has signed a multi-million dollar three year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a disappointing end to a season where the Pats won the division title and slumped to the 3 seed in the AFC
Deflategate invalidated the season.
Tony Zheng he did
@@shiauSSO Second half of that very game, the super bowl vs the seahawks collecting 2 more super bowls and a pile of wins while no doubt being watched like a hawk by every team, league official, fans and media invalidate any argument you may want to respond back to.
@@sumaseshi What makes you think the Patriots would have made the playoffs without cheating?
"Slumped to the 3 seed" that really shows you how dominant they've been, especially at Brady's old age.
My first time ever at Arrowhead. Went by myself all the way from Canada. I knew a grand total of zero people from KC but was always a massive Chiefs fan. Met some people the night before at the hotel and got invited to tailgate. The next day the Royals had an open practice and it was like 95f (I am from Canada and not used to that at all)I got heat exhausted and didn't know it. One of the guards took me to the medical center and got me fixed up with an IV and drove me back to my hotel (up the hill). Went back down later (that happened early afternoon) and while trying to find my tailgating party and asking people where it was, I probably hung out at like 8 different tailgates before getting to mine. Sorry for the long story but if people wonder why people love KC so much, this is why. The people are amazing and super friendly and treat you like family right away. And the game was pretty awesome too and I got drunk out of my mind with a bunch of random strangers around me. God I miss that place
You're awesome for this lol - a lot of people don't know anything about Kansans... we really are a friendly people. Chiefs fans are very humble and respectful, you won't see our fans trash talking and heckling the other teams fans as they come into Arrowhead like you see at a lot of other stadiums.
That Patriots team was loaded. Brady looked like the best player in football from week 5 on and if I remember correctly, the defense didn't give up a 4th quarter point from week 12 all the way to the Super Bowl. That team was on a mission.
They were cheating with Deflategate during the season.
JJ Watt was the best player in football that year. Pats were probably the best team.
A QB threw nothing but 10-15 dink and dunk short little passes against a weak schedule = “the best player in football from week 5 on””
@@chrisuncleahmad You can try and knock it all you want, but the fact of the matter is Tom Brady is one of the best players of all time, it's just a fact
They did give up points in the fourth quarter actually.. But yeah they weren't as loaded as the year before but still pretty great.. Just goes to show how ESPN writes a team off as soon as they lose a game..
Chiefs 2014: *We destroyed them! The pats are NO MORE!* Titans 2019: *Let me stop you right there, bucko.*
Thank the dolphins first
Clunker_Ablaze I’m still convinced that if the patriots beat the Dolphins they’d be Super Bowl champs for the 7th time.
The chiefs destroyed them in 2017 too in week 1
@@NathanJakobMichaelThomas As much as I want to believe that, if they couldn't beat the Dolphins or Titans at home then they weren't going far anyway.
It was a league effort props to all that contributed
“The night the pats dynasty ended” Patriots: Go to the Super Bowl 4 out of the next 6 years and win 3
It’s what the narrative was after this game , obviously they aren’t dumb enough to say it ended back then
Now it might be really over because Brady is gone
LMFAO, LOL, 😂😂😂, My Ass The Patriots Dynasty Ended This Game.
@@Phoenix96886 they just did
@@ChiefBlue4298 lol yup pats fans scared. Brady was scared too - he knew he couldn't face off the young QBs in the AFC. He needs a one off shot at one in the Super Bowl. That man was never going to the Chargers - he just didn't wanna seem scared of anything
The Night the Dynasty was Re-awakened
In Tampa Bay
This game and the media reaction awoke a beast inside Tom Brady and he was virtually unstoppable in the regular season and playoffs for the next 4 years. Crazy how it turned out when you really think about it
The 2014 Patriots are one of the most important teams in the NFL history!!!!
I remember watching this game and saying, “watch New England go on a run and win the Super Bowl.”
I'll give u all the credit in the world for calling it!👍

They didn’t go on A Super Bowl run … they went on FOUR Super Bowl runs. The fourth of which was reached going through the Chiefs at Arrowhead.
Belichick after this game: “There’s been an awakening...” Brady: “I have felt it.”

as a Pats fan this is so satisfying to watch now because of what it led to; almost as enjoyable as any win
I'll say this though, it was the beginning of a very exciting sports time in Kansas City with the Royals making their long-awaited playoff return with a bang
damn bumgartner
Jamaal Charles. Guy deserves to be in Canton without an ounce of doubt. Anyone who has watched his career, despite being short lived, was as electrifying as the next man. All he did was make plays after plays. I miss watching him on Sunday.
He's been nominated this year. I hope he gets in but I doubt a first ballot
I'm sure someone has mentioned this already, but this was also the game that the Chiefs crowd shattered the world record for noise in an outdoor stadium at 142.2 decibels. Crazy.
Much respect to Anthony Sherman, he's been a beast for KC for quite some time
I love the Chiefs crowd
One of the best and loyal fan bases in the NFL
Pretty sure they set the current noise record this game.
I'm a longtime Chiefs fan and even tho I was excited for this beatdown. Lol, in no way shape or form did I believe Brady was done
I was at this game and man the atmosphere sent chills through me, I get so much nostalgia every time I watch this game, the first time I got to see Tom Brady and the first time he was ever Benched!!!!
Imagine people a year ago thinking this was literal 💀
You gotta understand the mood for us patriot fans at the time. 2 Super Bowl losses and hadn’t won one in a decade. I remember picking the Patriots to get to the SuperBowl and seeing the media reaction after this game made me mad lol. Between this and the Cincinnati game the following week you could tell this squad was different.
Good Job Trent Dilfer! You unleashed the second wave of the Dynasty with your comments.
I remember this game and the energy in this city carried over the next night when the Royals won that Wild Card game against the A's. One of the best baseball games of all time. And of course we would carry that energy into a World Series and then another World Series (in 2015) and win it. I like to think this game was the firestarter.
I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this game.
This was my favorite Pats team. Wish we could have this group back again...
Can we appreciate the fact that looking back now it’s crazy how both of these teams were powerhouses and still are!!! Can’t wait for Cam against Mahomes! YESSSSSSS
God imagine if Mahomes had Charles to throw screens to 😱
Or even Hunt lol
Jordan Sorensen he had him tho sooooo
Now he has CEH. That's gonna be exciting.
But we got CEH coming....Watch what he does!!!
As a Chiefs fan I think about this all the time lol
Since this game, Tom Brady has been to five superbowls and won four of them.
One against the Chiefs lol
Chiefs in 2014: haha we ended the patriots dynasty titans in 2019: are you sure about that
“I can’t find who is where, neither can New England” 🤣 I miss Gruden in the booth so much
The night the first dynasty ended and the second dynasty began
Tirico and Gruden, in my opinion, are an all time great duo on the microphone. One of the best for MNF. Tirico is as polished as anyone, and Gruden’s personality contrasted well
Ah yes, this awful game. People had been writing off the Patriots for a while up to this point, but this was the night where a lot of people genuinely began to believe that things were done in New England. After a decade of failing to bring home a Lombardi, it really did seem like the Patriots were dead in the water. The offense looked broken, Brady looked washed, the whole team was a mess, and this game typified all of these issues on a national stage. Of course, everyone remembers the now infamous Trent Dilfer rant made postgame. "They're not good anymore!" he emphatically exclaimed. From this point, New England of course went on to win 13 of their final 15 games that season, including a wild Super Bowl, with Brady playing some of the best football of his career. Excluding a week 17 game where he sat the second half against Buffalo, Brady's stats from week 5-16 were crazy; 294 Y/G 29 TDs 7 INTs 66% comp 104.4 Passer Rating For reference, over a 16 game season those stats would have translated to 4700 yards, 42 TDs and 10 picks. Likely an MVP season. And, in typical Brady fashion, he had an even better postseason. This game was the perfect example of why fans could never doubt the greatest QB of all time and the greatest coach of all time. They always found a way to right the ship, even when it seemed like everything was going horribly wrong. Still, I'm sure a lot of people were really happy see New England get their faces kicked in for a night. It was probably a great feeling to think the Evil Empire had finally fallen, even if that feeling only lasted for 6 days.
Nah, there are doubts over who the GOAT QB and HC are, it'll never be an open/shut debate
Now the dynasty has finally ended, with TB now at the end of his career!
Arshad Khan L
Without doubt they have the greatest coach of all time in BB. Tom is a great QB, but Tom is not the greatest QB of all time. His sustained success is impressive as hell, but a whole lot of jewelry does not make you the best. If the chargers won the SB this year (lol) Tyrod Taylor would have two rings. Would we start saying he’s as good as either of the Manning brothers are? No. Obviously.
@@haveagreatday6952 There's a lot wrong with that comparison. The biggest issue is that Tom Brady _started_ and won 6 Super Bowl titles. Peyton Manning _started_ and won 2 Super Bowl titles. Tyrod Taylor _did not start_ in his only Super Bowl appearance. It's not even remotely the same comparison. If you were going to make the 'rings don't matter' argument, you were better off going with Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson (or even 2015 Peyton Manning). At least they started in their Super Bowls and won. Tyrod Taylor was a backup. With that being said, even removing Super Bowls from the equation, Tom Brady still has the best resume of any QB in the GOAT debate. Statistically he's either the best or top 3 in every stat, he has earned more accolades than any QB ever, he's won far more than any QB ever. And he's done it with pretty sub-par supporting casts on offense. No doubt Belichick aided him big time in winning six Super Bowls, but there's a reason that Brady has earned the most Super Bowl MVP honors of any player ever. He wasn't just some guy, he was the primary reason they were winning those games.
We later went on to win the Super Bowl that year. 🤩
They’ve won 3 Super Bowls since then
Man you have a brain the size of an acorn...
Thank you
I was watching this game, and I'm a die heart Chiefs fan and the Chiefs were 1-2 going into this game and I was elated the next to a point where I had a smile on my face the whole day.

Hah, I remember how I was one of the people that proclaimed the dynasty was over....Me and millions of people were about 5 years too soon on that score.
I remember a few years ago, an article popped up online and the headline was "The Day We Buried Tom Brady." I like when critics are proven wrong.
The start of the second half of the Patriots dynasty. Appearing in four Superbowls and winning three of them and 5 AFCCG appearances. Tom Brady specifically, four rings in five Superbowls since this game (including first year in Tampa). If anything, it was the Titans who ended their dynasty.
I’m a Kansas Citian and was at the game. I’ve been a chiefs fan my whole life, but i grew up with Tom Brady being my favorite player. It was just his story and drive to go from pick#199 to MVP. I asked for tickets to this game for my birthday. It is to this day the only game I’ve ever rooted against my Chiefs because it was the first time I ever got to see Brady play in person. I showed up to the game wearing my Brady jersey. I found the result extremely fitting. Chiefs dominated, and Brady got benched. I’ve never rooted against KC before or since 😂 even against New England. Still love Brady, but the Chiefs are in my soul.
haha this is wholesome and awesome
I remember this game. I really didn't think after this game that they were done as a dynasty. I just knew it wasn't over yet. And for some reason I was right.
This was posted on my birthday and I'm a Patriots fan that's tuff
This game was nuts! All the talk about benching Brady for Garoppolo who was a rookie at the time, and the Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl. In fact the only game they lost the rest of the season was to the Packers on the road in a very tight game. Crazy. Gotta love the NFL.
rodgers was so good that year too. If he weren't injured against Seattle he wins that one. Would have also been a good superbowl

The night that resurrected the patriots dynasty. After this game they go on to win the Super Bowl this season & win 3 more rings in the next 5 seasons
Good ole Alex Smith, not gonna wow you with big sexy highlights, but will put together long efficient drives and complete throws on 3rd downs, unfortunately most chiefs fans forgot him already lol
So many teases from teams I hated in the 2014 season. The Cowboys got their asses kicked in their own stadium in Week 1, the Packers looked like they might have an off year, and then there's this game. Although I was skeptical about the Patriots being "not good anymore".
We’re on to Cincinnati

Hey, this isn't the 2019 Titans vs. Patriots Wild Card game.
The dynasty was reborn this night
Ahh the early days with Andy Reid and Alex Smith. I always liked the “game manager.” Real shame how his career ended.
His career's not over, he just got reactivated!
I can't say it much more since a lot of people from the comment section already said it But when the 2020 season begins, there's gonna be a new NE dynasty, most likely anchored by the defense or a surprising performance by Jarrett Stidham
